Searchers, The - What'd I Say Lyrics
Hey mama, don't you treat me wrong
Come and love your daddy all night long
All right now, hey, hey, all right
See the girl with the diamond ring
She knows how to shake that thing
Tell your mama, tell your pa
I'm going to sing you back to Arkansas
Oh yes ma'am
You don't do right, don't do right
When you see me in misery, come on baby see about me
Now yeah, all right, all right
Aw play it boy
When you see me in misery, come on baby see about me
Now yeah, hey, hey, all right
See the girl with the red dress on
Yeah yeah, what'd I say
All right
Well, tell me what'd I say, tell me what'd I say right now
Tell me what'd I say, tell me what'd I say right now
Tell me what'd I say, tell me what'd I say
And I wanna know
Baby I wanna know right now
And-a I wanna know
And I wanna know right now yeah
Said I wanna know yeah
Hey, don't quit now! (c'mon honey)
Uh-uh Naw, What? What's that? I say, what's that?
One time? alright
Hey (hey) ho (ho) hey (hey) ho (ho) hey (hey) ho (ho)
Oh one more time (just one more time)
Say it one more time right now (just one more time)
Say it one more time now (just one more time)
Say it one more time yeah (just one more time)
Say it one more time (just one more time)
Say it one more time yeah (just one more time)
Hey (hey) ho (ho) hey (hey) ho (ho) hey (hey) ho (ho)
Make me feel so good now yeah (make me feel so good)
Woah! Baby (make me feel so good)
Make me feel so good yeah (make me feel so good)
Make me feel so good (make me feel so good)
Make me feel so good yeah (make me feel so good)
Huh (huh) ho (ho) huh (huh) ho (ho) huh (huh) ho (ho)
Awh it's all right (baby it's all right)
Said that it's all right right now (baby it's all right)
Said that it's all right (baby it's all right)
Said that it's all right yeah (baby it's all right)
Said that it's all right (baby it's all right)
Said that it's all right (baby it's all right)
Woah! Shake that thing now (baby shake that thing)
Baby shake that thing now now (baby shake that thing)
Baby shake that thing (baby shake that thing)
Baby shake that thing right now (baby shake that thing)
Baby shake that thing (baby shake that thing)
Baby shake that thing (baby shake that thing)
Woah! I feel all right now yeah (make me feel all right)
Said I feel all right now (make me feel all right)
Woooah! (make me feel all right)
Tell you I feel all right (make me feel all right)
Said I feel all right (make me feel all right)
Baby I feel all right (make me feel all right)

Searchers, The What'd I Say Comments
🤔😬💥от этого чувака начинался 💥💥💥DeeP PurplE😬😬😬😬💥💥💥💥💥✌️✌️✌️👋
Nagyon király zenekar volt.
Вот это отожгли парни ))
Это так и было....они из Ливерпуля, как и The Beatles. Выходили их великолепные альбомы.
Chris Curtis was an absolute douche bag. He cared more about his image than the band itself. They went totally downhill when Tony Jackson left.
👍👍👍❤
Бит группа The Searchers была также как и The Beatles из Ливерпуля. Они были очень
успешны и стали мировой знаменитостью в те годы. Я хорошо помню как песню What'd
I say играли малоизвестные советские бит группы на танцплощадках. Их музыку тогда
любили.
Mike Pender's lead guitar playing is as good as George Harrison's (and maybe a bit better, sometimes)
Chris Curtis on top form wow
That drummer was a real ass hole!
1:40 those jumps ❤️
didn't realise Chris Curtis could belt them out like this,
My idols.. yes baby,
Just fabulous
What a go!....
Awesome song
RIP Chris, RIP Tony, and as of 3/31/19, RIP Searchers.
mike's still going though, i know the other searchers band with john has packed in, and don't blame john.
Dreadful rubbish!
yellowbelly1949 They couldn’t sing for toffee a music critic once Said that of the Beatles
Chris Crummy off his tits there. McNally, Pender and Jackson deffo flushed his gear down the bog after this performance.
In the band business, we call these "throw-a-way" songs, "time killers." But I guess they had fun getting the crowd going! Loved this band as much as The Beatles back in '64-'65 ... Great to see them actually live!
damals wars, echt ne tolle Zeit für Beat Bands. In Berlin spielte in jeder Eckkneipe eine Band, und es wurde getanzt bis zum Umfallen.
Great group sexy drummer Chris Mike John and tony
The Chris Curtis Band....The lad nicked it
Chris Curtis - the best singing drummer of all times !
mercy beat He’s just like Ringo Starr who could also sing and play the drums at the same time both were good
this guy was BLOODY good......r.i.p.
I am not too sure the rest of the band were really into the drummers show stealing here, knowing the tension between drummer and bassist. Just a thought.
The Searchers were that unique band that had all players that could sing, and their harmonies were just great. Shame that band had broken up into 2 SEARCHERS bands...the original SEARCHERS were just great. Still get chills when I hear NEEDLES and PINSA
Fuck the Stones and the Beatles, The Searchers were the shit.
What ever happened to Chris Curtis?
That fruit cake kicked !
He left the Searchers in 1966 to attempt a solo career. When that didn't work, he formed another group called Roundabout, but was kicked out just as they were about to hit the big time. The rest of the band changed the name to Deep Purple (yes, them!). Disillusioned by show business, he went up to Liverpool to take a regular job, before dying in 2005.
A great band that is so underrated
If you will notice the contours on a Fender Stratocaster, you will see it was designed to be played at lower rib level.
Ray Davie's brother in the Kinks played his Gibson Flying V with his right arm inside the "V".This is really the correct
method according to the way the electric Guitars were designed in the 1950's. People started hanging their guitars
really low because once light weight strings began to be used in the late 60's, it supposedly gave them a better angle to
bend the strings. Nowadays people seem to think the lower you hang your guitar, the cooler you look.
nagyon szuper zene.
Buena version
Grande Banda!!! John, Frank,Chris, e Mike Pender. e Liverpol, mesma cidade dos Beatles. Parabéns na estrada até hoje.....
That was Chris Curtis on the vocal, right?
"Pharmaceuticals." :P

the great tony Jackson the searchers lost something when they got rid of tony
Apparently down to Chris Curtis.....saw some vid on YT of Tony taking about it.
This version by the Searchers is ridiculously awesome!
this guy knows how to ROCK, dam....
I have never seen The Searchers like this before (I have seen their present line-up a couple of times recently). Chris Curtis was talented, there is no doubt. (It could be John Lennon. He seemed to have the same off-the-cuff, quirky, Liverpudlian humour too.)
I believe later he drove Tony Jackson out of the band - a shame really.
I think Tony Jackson was the creep in this situation. The story goes that he told their manager that unless he.got paid more than the others, he’d tell the music press that Curtis was gay, which was illegal in England at the time.
This concert also had other bands from Liverpool playing on it including Gerry and the Pacemakers and a group called The Beatles". Check out the jump at 1:42 don't think other bands did this then also at 2:12 they stop the song because the crash cymbal had been knocked over and the singer riffs as John Lennon comes to put back the stand back that and you can hear the drummer quip in his scouse accent "Having a good time down there John, you tiny man". They were friends from cavern times and these boys knew how to work a crowd". I think this is great - to the naysayers below - they acknowledge its a Ray Charles song, I think the fact they channel it in their white English boy way to make something new is what the British Invasion was about. As to the way they hold their guitars it's because bands then often didn't use straps that all changed by the end of the year. It was a tradition amongst Liverpool bands for the drummer to sing a song that was a belter with the Beatles it was Ringo singing 'Boys'. The Searchers: another great but underrated musician's band from the time along with The Zombies and The Pretty Things.
+Alan Anderson I totally agree! One note though, it is not John Lennon who puts the stand back up. Chris Curtis talks to John McNally, the rhythm guitarist and creator of The Searchers. It would have been an amazing story if it would have been John Lennon though!!!
And, if John Lennon had popped up on that stage any earlier than the Beatles set, the whole show would have been over, because none of those kids would have been paying any more attention to the Searchers or anyone else.
Fabian Jahn Högler I stand corrected.
What a crap version of What I Say.....Ray Charles ought to sue them!
+mattmannistYou're right it IS a crap version. Ray is probably rolling i his grave. This really sucks
+mattmannist Jerry Lee Lewis did the best cover of 'What I Say'.
Yes dallaskenn...I agree with you! Lewis did a great cover of What I Say...
The Searchers always could do a solid rave up when they wanted to. A very under-rated group.
Was the late Chris Curtis a time-traveler? At 2:24, it sounds like he's saying to John McNally, "Having a good time down there, John, you're trying to e-mail?"
I thought the same thing. Anyway, this is a totally entertaining show.
@tom caroscio Absolutely. Chris Curtis was the most underrated genius of the whole British Invasion. He was way ahead of his time. He died too soon, as did bass player Tony Jackson. Both men will never be forgotten.
Someone else said he's actually saying "You tiny man." But I always thought he was saying "You trying an E, man?" like McNally was waiting to start playing guitar again during the little interlude. But I don't know if any of the song is in E, LOL.
why did the English gtr guys all hoist their instruments nearly to chin level ? Gerry Marsden.....
you're right but I only ever saw one man put his arm through the "V" of the flying v guitar and that was Dave Davies...thanks
well said sir !
@***** true , it does propel the instrument into respectability...1
Haaaaaaaaa so silly !!!
There will never be another Chris Curtis.
Keith moon ?
Excellent version! Let's see today's bands come across with so much positive energy.
