Seals & Crofts - Nine Houses Lyrics

Nine houses that faith built, and all of us, all of us abuse them.
Nine houses that faith built, and all of us, all of us must use them.
For if we do then we can make the trees and the hills and rivers wide.
Sing with such love and a peace they've never known.

I can see, I can feel.
I can do a million things in dreams where sense is no longer needed.
In the wilderness. In the wilderness.
I can cross a million streams in dreams where sense is no longer needed.
Children in cocoons. Many colored tunes.
Make their way into a day where sense is no longer needed.

So there's a lotta sense in livin'. When the world we know starts givin'.
We can spread our wings some sunny day and fly away.
But 'til we all fly together, what sense does it make?

I saw them in 72 or 73 at Morehead State University , what a wondrous show. Listening to them tonight they remind me of Cat Stevens, great writing, musicianship and production.
God, could they sing. Glad I got to hear them live.

Thank you so much for posting this. 9 Houses is my favorite Seals & Crofts song. My copy of "Diamond Girl" was purchased at least 35 years ago, and by the time I had a computer and the software to digitize it, the vinyl was so worn that all the tracks on it sounded terrible despite the most careful noise reduction processing I could do. This recording sounds as crisp and clear as any CD of 70's music I've ever heard, as if it was digitized directly from the master studio tape. Again, thanks!

This is an example of some extraordinary talent in writing.  The various styles that went into this incredible piece of music still astounds and delights me.

These guys are so good, don't make music like this hardly any more. Shortly after the diamond girl album came out, I worked out the instrumental part with a good friend and we played it at our high school talent show, as I remember (this was many years ago!) the audience was impressed, that was a highlight in my life! Thank you for posting!!
