Always reminds me of summer

Seals and Crofts were the best of the 70's soft rock era IMO. Their songs were always well crafted with great chord progressions and melodies. They always had a bit of a unique twist that stood out from other artists in this genre.

I was in elementary school when this came out and my mom really loved S&C and this song. It always makes me think of her—lost her a few years ago. Such a beautiful song, starts out slow and soulful and builds to a very emotional climax. There’s a reason why that phrase exists, because it happens to be true, “they don’t make ‘em like this any more.”

I was a junior in high school when this came out. My teenage guy friends and me made up so many joke lyrics to this song. Try changing "closer" to "grosser" and you'll get the idea.

My favorite part of the song is at 1:33 -1:40( my Seinfeld "desperado" moment). The changes in the music bring me to a special place that you just don't hear anymore.
