Screaming Trees - Witness Lyrics

It's taken everything
Everything I've got and it's hung me on a line
Water rising up over me
And I think I'm going to die, think I'm going to die

I told a lie, that's what I said
I told them one you know I'll always keep
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is the one with the witness

Shine your lonely light on me
I'll be there to hold the mirror
I could take you down with me
Show you lonely, lonely, lonely

Death wastes no time it seems
And its hung me on a line, hung me on a line
Heartbreak falling all over me
And I think I'm going to die, think I'm going to die

I told a lie, that's what I said
I told them one you know I'll always keep
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is the one with the witness

Shine your lonely light on me
I'll be there to hold the mirror
I could take you down with me
Show you lonely, lonely, lonely

I told a lie, that's what I said
I told the one you know I'll always keep
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is mine
Whose God is the one with the witness

Shine your lonely light on me
I'll be there to hold the mirror
I could take you down with me
Show you lonely, lonely, lonely

Shine your lonely light on me
I'll be there to hold the mirror
I could take you down with me
Show you lonely, lonely, lonely

Lonely, lonely, lonely

Because commercialism Sucks! But that's not a record companies job! Their job is to release great music for the public to consume and try. So the consumer can decide how much of it they want. But that didn't happen here! The Screaming Trees Are Arguably The Greatest Rock Band To Come Out Of The State's Since The Eagels! One more tour and album will prove that!!!

    Kris Frederick

The people that know them love them.

I feel like Mark Lanegan becomes enlightened with crazy ass lyrics, and he don't even know why.

  13. Lukas Schneider

Fuck I miss these guys. One of the best bands of the 80's/90's!

    Kris Frederick

That's what recordings are for, no one is ever gone

  14. alessandro cosma

THE WORLD NEEDS A NEW SCREAMING TREES ALBUM.!

    GoGeR030

+alessandro cosma It would be ok, but Mark Lanegan has a great discography with a lot of different musicians... Here are 2 that you'll enjoy I hope: Mark Lanegan-8 cd on kat and Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Discography 2002-2010 on israbox.
I like his work with QOTSA and also with Soulsavers... Greeetings friend

  15. Alec Ferris

To be honest, I think there are plenty of great bands now, and there were plenty of awful groups back in the 90s. It's just a matter of time passing, the bad bands tend to fade out in hindsight. When they come to write the history of 00s hard rock and metal, the Nickelback will be a footnote, and groups like Mastodon will get the attention they deserve. At least that's what I'm hoping.

    Rob Lucas

Alec Ferris plenty of great of what?

  16. Guitar Dood

cage the elephant, rise against, and uhhh well its hard to think of too many but they do exist my friend i swear. Im just discovering these guys and they are awesome!

    Tommy McCuen

Dinosaur jr, J Mascis, Paw, Mad Season, Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains (old stuff), Sonic Youth, Silversun pickups, Silverchair (frogstomp album only,& maybe Freak), Audioslave, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Mudhoney!, Fugazi! ...thats hopefully enough for you to find the other great bands like them. Wish i was able to think of more at the moment but my mind is elsewhere....or is it L'swear. Elvesair

    Tommy McCuen

    That guys weird

  17. ghostwhiskey

  20. Dazzy

  21. ghostwhiskey

some of their best harmonies on the chourus, almost lennon/mcartney worthy

  22. Derek Stein

@meinLiebsterFeind and how do you "look" at a voice anyways? The only thing these guys have in common with Soundgarden is the state they hail from. Stupid comment from MrDanilocolo

  23. valdo aldo cesena

I am so happy that I lived these days with this music,,,looking at nowadays,,,I see a big emptyness,,,I mean,,,where is the good music??right ,,times are changing,,,,but in the worst way!!I think,,personally,,they were the best american band of the 90's,,,,

  24. George Balokas

  25. Halil İbrahim Çakıroğlu
