Screaming Trees - Invisible Lantern Lyrics
Locked in this darkened room, a timeless view
Shall I not ponder everything inside
Can't escape my mind
I just let the shadow rot through my soul
Just a flash of confusion when we meet
My invisible lantern, it's my invisible lantern
Anxious echoes seal the door
Shoes on the floor kicking in my eye
To all my friends I'm crazy and I'm shut away
The don't care about anything I say
So I took my illumination into the street
Just a flash of confusion when we meet
The heavy warm lights shade me from the thoughts
That try to creep in my c-c-c-consciousness
Transparent wheels always make me feel
Like I've never been in the right dimension
The girl I've been seeking through all these dreams
Dissolves with a touch 'cause nothing's left to see
I imagine myself outside with you
And there everyone's whispering only what's true
That I got illumination on the street
Just a flash of confusion when we meet
My invisible lantern, it's my invisible lantern
My invisible lantern, my invisible lantern

Screaming Trees Invisible Lantern Comments
I thought this was a one hit band, with just one album
Screaming Trees were a great band and to me this was their apex; a real masterpiece! I wish it had garnered more attention and acclaim but such is life...give it a listen; walk through this side, smokerings and Grey Diamond Desert are my favs I'd say but those also change as its great all the way through!
The homemade sound of this album is not just a bad thing. It's refreshing to hear stuff like this sometimes. It's low fidelity, but high musicality.
Yeah! This album requires repeated listening. There are fantastic sounds to be found amidst the sonic layers. Mind-altering substances are not necessary, but they most definitely up the groovy factor.
cést ca!
Songwriting quality wise. I haven't heard anything that tops this in their catalog. The only thing that drags it down is the tracks don't flow together as well as they should.
Apocolypto Apocrypha yeah, Even If sounds like an opener to me.
So far out, man😎😎
IS that Mark Lanagan singin?-I c ant tell. .........ohh nevermind........
Yeah, it's Mark Lanegan.
been into this for 20 years now, is rock still alive? thank you MTV!?!
This album contains great songs. But whoever recorded and mixed it, didn´t do a good job. Especially the drummer must habe been very discontented with the result: did they record any overheads ?

Yeah I understood that, but I think it's an aspect of the low fidelity. I don't think it sounds weak at all, it's just not radio-friendly. The wah and vocals drive this album anyway, not the drums, I like the raw sound they produce here. Diamond in the rough.
+Enphlegminguous That´s what they might have thought as well: The wah and the voice drives the album. But personally I think that that´s the problem. Music generally contains melody and rhythm, so this production for me is a bit "out of balance". - Well the voice and the guitars are much better than the rhythm section. Concerning this they took the right decision concerning the mix. - The follow up sounds much better in my opinion.
@TheAmilcar111
I don't know, I still love this album, it's my favourite stuff from these guys. Just a personal preference I guess, I think it sounds good anyway.
+Enphlegminguous
I think so, too. And it is one of my all time favs as well. - This one here, Buzz factory and Change has come marks their best creative period in my opinion.
bet it would sound great on vinyl
comparing this álbum with sweet oblivion is stupid. Sweet oblivion, dust and last words are much better.
I kind of like this one better.
The Vines heard this one for sure....
Ye man, prob my favourite too, i think the weird production's part of its charm, turn it up loud n its like a massive distorted explosion of colour in your head! Nice to see someoes uploaded their early albums, thats their best stuff. Anyone who likes this needs to hear 'Purple outside'! It's their guitarists solo album and its soooooo good! some of its on youtube, but the full thing's where its at!
AltDethVideos where can I get it? I checked Amazon and all that came up was Deep Purple albums
"Mystery Lane" by The Purple Outside. Check Discogs or eBay.

i think the recording also is a clue to their mystery sound
