First time I heard of Screaming Females was in a J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr) interview. The interviewer asked him what bands he was listening to theses days and he answered something like "I haven't been listening that much lately, except for Screaming Females." So I googled and youtubed it and WOW, what a find!

her playing isn't sloppy.. her tone is just heavy.. everyone has had tone like that at some point.. kurt cobain for instance.. what's special about her playing is the fact that she could do all that and sing at the same time... anyone who could do that is a fuckin beast at guitar..

out of key? I can guarantee you that isnt true. I know this song well, and have been a guitarist since age 4 and I can personally attest to her being a very good guitarist. My guess is the sloppiness you are hearing is due to fuzz boxes being used and dirtying up the signal. I like this, but if she were to turn those off Im sure you find very nice note definition. And anyways, sloppiness is something often done on purpose, not something to be mocked.

A) Not a guitarist and have no clue what they're talking about.
B) Are doing a disservice to this girl by treating her like she's a better guitarist than she is strictly because she's a girl! If this were a GUY, it would be "He plays a bunch of sloppy notes in a jumbled mess of soloing, many of which aren't on key." But because indie dweebs are in love with her (as well as her fellow riot grrl lezbees), she "shreds." Her voice sucks, too , btw.
