Scott Walker - Just One Smile Lyrics
Can't I cry a little bit?
There's nobody to notice it
Can't I cry if I want to?
No-one cared
That you loved me again?
All I've had has been taken from me
Now I'm cryin' and my tears don't become me
Just one smile - the pain's forgiven
Just one kiss - the hurt's all gone
Just one smile to make my life worth living
A little dream to build my world upon
How I wish I could say
If some way you could see what's in my heart
I don't ask for much - a look, a smile, a touch
Try to forget, Lord knows I'm tryin'
But it's hard to forget when your whole world is dyin'
Just one smile - the pain's forgiven
Just one kiss - the hurt's all gone
Just one smile to make my life worth living
A little dream to build my world upon
One smile - all forgiven
One kiss - the hurt's all gone
Just one smile to make my life...

Forever missed... RIP from Brazil
Scott my hero whatever you sing its fabulous the only man i get goose bumps with rest in peace angel xxx
💔 It breaks my heart ♥ that this beautiful man is gone and it breaks my heart all over again hearing his truly wonderful voice. 💔
Maybe because he was a very handsome man. Or any else can tell me why??
Perhaps he was born that way, that's just his temperament.
Was Scott a very shy private person?? I don't know why??
Nancy Miriam Yes, he suffered deeply from stage fright in front of large audiences. Frankly, I would find that too.
All of the finest artistes had some
degree of stage fright but Scotts was among the worst mainly because he didn't think his voice was good enough.
Beautiful man beautiful voice ❤️ RIP Scott 💔 Can’t we pretend you’re still here 😢
💙💙💔💙💙
Thank you Noel, thank you Scott..... for being the person, the singer, the artist, the painter with words and sound.... may your daughter and granddaughter cherish the memories in their hearts. You deserve a lot of respect. Leaving the world behind with amazing songs. Use your wings and fly..... you did a great job on earth.
A beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. Godspeed, Scott.
oh, Scott... my "engel" ...
Gene Pitney.
.. no ..
Fascinating very slow version - I think that, on balance, I prefer Gene Pitney or Dusty Springfield, but, nonetheless, Scott Walker has a wonderful voice and never disappoints.
I agree with you, especially being a big fan of Gene Pitney. However, had I heard Scott's version of this song first, I might now be preferring it to the others. At any rate three stellar performers now gone from our earthly domain, each unique in their talents and ability to interpret a good song. 6/2019
I went to see The Walker Brothers twice when they came to my town. Then I used to go to see Scott at a small place called Fagans in Manchester. He didn't like all the pressure of the big gigs because he was a very shy private person .
I saw him in Liverpool about 1974.
The audience cried for more, but Scott wanted a standing ovation.
Only me stood up...
How lucky you are Janet. Precious memories.
i've got 6 of Scott's solo albums all incredible
oh gosh I cried out my adolescence with this man and he still has the power to push all my buttons....how lucky we were to be young in the sixties....
He still does that for me also even now.
such feeling, what a singer!!!!brilliant and beautiful production
Cannot argue he is a great singer….But on this occasion
Gene Pitneys version wins hands down
Pitney's chipmonks style doesn't have the sincerity, emotion and sensitivity of Scott's version. It's not Scott's intention to belt it out.
Scott ... Dusty ... close run thing
SG Barnard agree but also appreciate Gene Pitney version too.
Bloody great. This or Dusty Springfield version though?
I prefer Dusty's version. Though i adore Scott Walker.
Gene Pitney did the best recording of this song IMHO.
@Barbara Harney Scott all day long.
Scott is wonderful .
thanks
Yes, wonderful Scott, just ONE smile. Get it over with
@batesovic
This song is a very very gentle. I'm give for sadness my citizen of Japanese.
thanks
That's true.
Thanks.
Another masterpiece from Scott Walker's under-rated 1973 album Stretch. I doubt if this interpretation of the Randy Newman song has ever been bettered.
