Scorpions - Polar Nights Lyrics
Down, down ...
That's bringing me down
The stars in the sky
Seem to fall to the ground.
Time, time ...
The stars in the sky
Seem to be turning round.
Is that the wind in your eyes
That is soothing my mind?
Is that the night of your eyes
That is soothing my mind?
Round, round ...
My mind's whirling round
The moons in the sky
Gone, gone ...
My mightmares are gone
The moons in the sky
Seemed to eat up the sun.
Is that the wind in your eyes
That is soothing my mind?
Is that the night in your eyes
That is soothing my mind?
Back from polar nights ...
I was down ...
I was out ...
The nights at the pole've been
So cold without you!
I was down ...
I was out ...
The pole-star was bringing me
Back home to you.
Is that the wind in your eyes
That is soothing my mind?
Is that the night in your eyes
That is soothing my mind?

To me one of the best riffs ever ! It's impossible to unlike this!! Just incredible and every time it makes me shiver and shake... 😜
Very...very...good!
The greatest twin lead guitar tune ever recorded, praise God.
Uli is the baddest.....ever! I put him over anybody!!!
A whirlwind romance with a Nazi warrior priestess fuck bitch that must be conquered or else disaster. Who on Earth is man enough to rise to the challenge without being destroyed? Leave it to the Scorpions. Glory to God for the awesome talent given.

Just saw Uli in Buffalo, NY. He wad gr8. Too bad, not many people know who he is around here.
Everybody talking about Uli's voice... but the guitar... OMG, he is so underrated. Jimi would be proud :)
da fuck? did some fan win a "sing a song with the Scorpions" contest or something? or did they lose a bet where they have to let the drunk roadie sing?
This song came from Jimi Hendrix Gypsy eyes
Scorpions is the sound of Primal Europa.
I absolutely love the Stuka dive bomber siren at 4:26! He starts it one half-step above the tonic, which makes it sound really nasty. Teutonic mayhem at its best!
UUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIIIIII8II!!!!!!!
playing is...HEAVY by the whole band and lyrics fit Uli's approach to music. Flawless.
Ulrich Roth is God.
Scorps' are so much better with Uli.
Reclaim Deutschland. RISE
ULI ULI ULI
I don't get why people dislike the voice of UJR. I think his voice is fine, yeah maybe would be better if Klaus sang it.
This song has one of the best outro for me!
Mee lembra o Deep Purple nos primeiros alguns(essa é mais foda)linha do baixo destrói tbm
dude tears the ass off his guitar! right on!
My favorite scorpion song uli rocks
These guys were dangerous. Much more interesting imho , however I love Rock You Like a Hurricane
Ah. 1976, that explains "studio version" coincides with "shoebox recording"
The main riff is directly taken from gypsy eyes . Might be in a diff key. Too lazy to verify
incomparável
Thank god for You Tube.I was 15 when this song came out.It was barely noticed. So glad it can be enjoyed now
like it
His voice is crap! No doubt about it. Whatever the lyrics were, there is no point in listening.
What makes this "little piece of classic heavy metal history" relevant is the guitar work.
The wa-wa and lead are screamingly sharp. That's why you listen to this track over and over.
+jmaxg Couldn't agree more! The last minute and forty seconds is what makes my jaw drop anyway.
+Driven2Beers I don't think I have ever heard more effective "wa-wa" or heard it used quite so usefully.
This track "bites" so hard. A little piece of heavy metal gold.
Amen...over & Over...!!!!!
and your point is? stating the obvious, but why?
It is ok. All the Jimi bashing is uncalled for. Jimi was the originator of this type of guitar playing. Uli is definitely doing something good here, but the backup band is a little limp, in my opinion. Too bad Uli could not have played with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles, would have been very good. Also, remember, Jimi gave us his great playing in the 4 years he was big, Uli has had many, many years to refine and cultivate his playing.
Who bashed Jimi here then? Jimi is the master.
Jimi would be so proud!
His voice is very unique and interesting...even captivating maybe. I personally enjoy it but let's not kid ourselves here, he was No Klaus. Cheers
Listen to Glenn Hughes' "Soul Mover", you'll get what I mean haha
Uli Wanted to do more of a hendrix thing so the got jabs to fill in the spot for roth i guess that was not what the band wanted to do the hendrix thing- that is what i heard -- jabs kick A also
+alblues fish where did you get this info from about Jabs? he wasn't in the credits nor around then...Uli brought him in when he announced he was leaving the band after Tokyo tapes
Uli's vocals are exactly what Jimi's would be if he were a white German. I, for one, love his vocals.
Herman Helmich Same. He's always been my #1 guitar idol. His tone and playing were and still are insane.
Fits the songs
german is perfect for this kind of music
I dunno, sure Uli wasn't the best candidate to sing on some of those tracks, but part of me always thought his voice just added to the ominous aspect of his songs. Of course we know his guitar spoke for itself. This tune and Sun In My Hand are still two of my favorites.
funkster007 exactly
Uli Jon Roth was a great guitar player, but man Klaus should've taken this one on vocals.
No! Lol. Uli played his part just fine! Everything worked out according to God's plan, Lol :-)
Yeah, I really don't like his singing voice. Way better guitar player than singer lmao
I totally agree- I wanna cover this song because it's great, other than the weak singing. Hopefully give it new life.
The song wouldnt be the same with Klaus, totally different
You are right!
The guitarist here blows mathias jabs off the stage, cant believ that they hired him after this guy
Mathias is dang good. He's more of a mainstream rock style that's all.
Plus Klaus always wanted the band to be more mainstream. His way led to them being one of the biggest selling rock bands ever, and Germany's biggest cultural export.
The one and only Uli Jon Roth, his great!
The solos on this are just incredible! Now that's playing with feeling. . .
I'm thankful to have been a late teen when this stuff came out. Yes, I jammed it in my 8-track. Years later I'm able to look back and know Uli and this segment of the Scorpions history was the absolute best. When it comes to the knock-down drag-out stuff, this prevails.
I have to say that early scorpions songs are far more interesting and deep than later scorpions although lovedrive, blackout and love at first sting are quite good
Embrace all incarnations of the Scorps... from progressive-art-rock to anthem-rock they've created a towering mountain for us all to explore!
Love the song! That winter night shot with footprints is mine-glad you found it!
uli is one of the sickest guitarist of the rock era even better than hindrex
early 80s when nobody wrote about Scorpions..thus little was known.I came across an article in Circus Raves they were interviewing Klaus and Rudy.they said they were in europe at a Van Halen concert.watching the opening act David lee sees them in the audience and has them invited back stage..they opened the dressing rm door..VH broke into Catch your train which surprised them....klaus asked how a big band like VH knew their music...before we got big we covered your music in the california bars
Its never too late to catch up on the best music ever.....its sad so many haven't even had the chance to listen thanks to radio station programers with their heads up their asses......btw I hope you're also a UFO fan from the Micheal Schenker days..if not get on it......
No way. His voice and accent fits his music perfectly.
Saw VH in 76, essentially a Scorpion cover band. Speedys Coming, Drifting Sun, Dark Lady, Robot Man, Catch Your Train, Virgin Killer and this awesome song. His guitar solo wasn't Eruption, it was more like Electronic Reflections of War by Frank Marino. Pretty fucking good.
uli is the bestest!
Does anyone play with more gut wrenching feeling??? every note on his solos gets me higher then a kite without drugs.......mmmmm
I've been listening to this song since I was a teenager (I'm 48) and I've always maintained that this is the single heaviest guitar tone ever captured on record.
Un-fucking-believable.
That sound that starts at 4:26...my god...are you serious!?!
All done with a Strat plugged into a Wah straight into a stock 100 watt Marshall and that's it.
See kids...this is how it's done. But hey, if you still think you need 6 distortion pedals and a $3000.00 high gain 'boutique' amp to be heavy...
Glad to finally hear the VK cut of Polar Nights on YouTube. One of my top three Scorpions songs.
the guitar from uli jon roth is really a sample of what jimi hendrix could do with it!
primus sound like this
all of the uli roth scorps song shredd!!
Ultimate Headphone Vinyl Music!
ULI is the man, he and Ritchie Are the kings of neo classical metal \m/
This is groovy as hack oh yeah! .-)
man!!!this track is HUGE!!!!!
@rovingrepairbot yes...considering you're always wondering where cremeo's comments are on yours...hehe
@KARENK72886 Yesssss! Surprised?
@rovingrepairbot holy damn! it's a comment from rovings...hahahah...!
uli was awesome...
@cremesupreme Yep!
@rovingrepairbot For me it's Fly To The Rainbow and In Trance. Man,I crank those suckers up and everything is cool with the world.
@BarryMcClure I hear ya!
The Scorpions rock, especially in their early days. Can't believe I didn't know about their earlier albums up until about 10 years ago. I need to put in something like Lonesome Crow or Fly To The Rainbow every once in a while for that fix. Sometimes they remind me of a heavy Moody Blues for some reason.
This song already sounds incredible as it is, with Uli's brilliant song-writing and breath-taking guitar work. But just imagine how much more amazing this would sound if Klaus had sung it?! thats what blows my mind. no offense to Uli (hes a fuckin legend) but he was born to play guitar, not sing lol.
Uli is a great guitarist.....but I've heard better voices in karaoke bars.
@KARENK72886 It was kinda funny that it was 110 degrees outside while i was making this vid. hehe. Thanks,K!
oml...good ole scorpions! cool...I mean the Polar nights! ha!
@0marigolds Thanks,Jo! LOUD is definitely a requirement when listening to this jam.
