When this came out my flatmate was deeply offended, vociferously so. He tried to convince me it was an abomination, but never hearing the original (my parents didnt listen to pink floyd, although im never sure why), i had no stong opinion.
Over the coming weeks he mellowed and came to love it as its own unique version of a much cherished song, and would choose to play it for his own enjoyment.
I have great respect for anyone who can open their minds and admit they were wrong.

What makes me chuckle is the arseclown haters who hate on this quirky electropop cover in 2019 as if it came out perhaps a couple of months ago. FFS it is fifteen years old and nearing classic status in its own right.

This one appeared on my Discover Weekly list on spotify. I was appalled. Never heard such a bad cover as this one. True, it's original but it is in no way representative of the meaning of the song and musically it is a very simple electronic up-tempo kids version. I'm not against covers but they, on the contrary. I once heard a cover of another Pink Floyd song but I can't remember which one so cannot refer to that one.

Truly speaking, from the depth of my heart, a cover needs not be an exact copy of original. But this song needs a slow pace. So all guys who said that this song helped ease your mind, please try to learn english, in case you don't. If you do know english , then get a doctor/a therapist. Your brain fails to connect words and emotions properly. The lyrics says he has become comfortably numb, it is not flash singing comfortably fast, why did they fuck up the speed. Sorry for being insensitive, but this song has been insensitive to me too. I liked to slowly submerge and get numb in the darkness as a kid, enjoying loneliness and these fucktards have destroyed that imagery. So shower the hate but I hate these guys.

I listened this version before the song of Pink Floyd, and it took me so many years to realize that it was the same song. (English is not my native language).
