Tomorrow is my daughter's adoption anniversary. 7 years.

The son I placed turned 17 yesterday. Today is 17 yrs since I held & handed him over for the last time. The "anniversary" pain never stops, but I also know I had nothing to give him at the time. The father was violent, even had harmed my older son. I a selfish 21 yr old, on/off drugs, living on my mom's couch, trying to get clean & my life together. The semi-open adoption was a great option b/c although I don't know last names or locations, I was able to pick the parents, meet them ahead of time & hand him to them. The first couple of years after he was born we kept contact via the agency, but we lost touch after. I didn't know what to say & wanted to give them space, didn't want to push. The closure of seeing him again will hopefully come, but only if he's comfortable with it. I won't force it but my door is always open&I truly hope he chooses to at least meet his siblings one day.

I wish my parents would have given me up for adoption.

I was adopted at 3 and I got taken from my mom at birth because she did drugs and was an alcoholic when she was pregnant with me. Then when I was 12 my adoptive father sexually abused me and I opened up about it when I was 15, I now have a new family who love me and care about me. I am one of 7 or 8 adopted out of wachula, FL and I want to find my biological family. I know one of my sisters because we got adopted together. I know of two of my brothers Christian and Carlos Benetiz and my sister is Angel Benetiz and I used to be Diamond Benetiz.

I'm meeting my birth mother for the first time tomorrow. 39 years old and the mystery is finally over. We found each other via DNA. I'm so nervous!!! Wish me luck! Good luck to all those out there that might be searching for a birth parent, Never give up hope, It can happen!!

I met my birth sister, whom my mom had to give up for adoption before I was born, when I was 12. We are very close to her now, so I am always interested to hear other people's adoption stories.

@Blue Rose Thank you for asking! I still feel like I'm floating on cloud 9. It was and is amazing! We have stayed in contact every day since, Even if just a quick text. We both want a relationship and we are pursuing it. She's 'normal'. As an adoptee I had to learn to expect the worst (jail, drugs, etc) so I wouldn't be disappointed if that was the case. Thank you for your prayers. It was up there with having a child or getting married as far as life events go...maybe even the 'ultimate'. Thank you :)

I don’t like the song I will never put my baby up for adoption

I can hardly listen to this without sobbing. My Mama gave my older sister up for adoption before she ever met my dad. We later met my beautiful sister and we are very close to her now, but there was a cost and this song reminds me of that cost. I am so grateful for my sister and her beautiful daughters!

Thank you for making this song. It has spoke to me for years. I was adopted 19 years ago from Russia when I was almost 7. (My Adoption story is on my channel). I was taken away from my parents when I was 2 and spent 4 years in orphanages. I never knew the circumstances of why I was taken or what happened till several months ago. (Included in my Adoption story on my channel). Since this song came out, I’ve listened to it over and over again, and cried everytime. It always explained how I felt and what I was thinking. Even though never resented my birth parents this song made me realize how thankful I was for being adopted and having an actual chance at life here in America. I’ve always wanted to find them and thank them for giving life to me. Because iof the Adoption I’ve had an incredible life here in America and now I have a child of my own. And several months ago I found out about everything that happened and all about my parents through my aunt in Russia. If anyone is interested in hearing my story head over to my channel.

I was adopted and this is exactly how I feel. I read things like kids who are adopted struggle with being wanted, but I don't because I believe that my birth mother gave me the best option she could. I don't desire a relationship with my birth mother, but I would love to tell her that she did the right thing, and  thank her and tell her that I have an amazing life.

I love this song! I gave my daughter up for adoption, but my worse fear is she will hate me when she gets older she will be 3 May the 10th. I gave her to a couple I have known for years and I get to watch her grow up, but it doesnt change the fact that I miss her dearly and I cried for a long time and still to this day it upsets me!

I was given up for adoption when I was 6months due to my mom doubt drugs and my father abusing me. And I wasn't adopted till 1 1/2 and went through 9 foster homes. I am a Christ and I do forgive my birth mom but I have no clue who my father is.

My daughter, whom I was just reunited with after 23 yrs (on May 16th), just dedicated this song to me.
The circumstances were a tad different but, it is a very beautiful song.

Took me hearing it on the radio a few times to realize it's about adoption!! He really hits the nail on the head!! I grew up so thankful to my biological mother for giving me the chance she gave me, and thanking God for my amazing family.

+Moriah Mount I miss her everyday! There is not a day that goes by where she isn't my first thought. I knew I couldn't be what she needed and provided her with a family that can!! Placing her for adoption was done completely out of love. I'm sure it was the same for your birthmother.

As a birthmom of 2yo twin boys I can say for a fact that I think about them around the clock. Not a day goes by that I don't think about how much I care and love them more than anything thing in the universe. I couldn't go a day without knowing how healthy and happy they are.

This song means so much to me... My birth-mother had to give me up very early on after giving me up and this song makes my heart feel like it's swelling in love for her. My adopted mom created a facebook page with my birth name and a picture of me when I was adopted and a few other pictures of me a little older. That's how we connected with my birthparents.

I think both kinds make a child confused, because mine was closed. I knew where I was born (I saw my birth certificate) but I didn't know anything about my birthparents except that they were teenagers when I was born.

Reminds me about how lucky I am to have my two adopted siblings. Their parents would be so proud of them.

I was put up for adoption when I was just under 1. I spent 2 years in a foster home. Then I was adopted by my new parents. Their are 7 adopted kids in my family including me. This song perfectly describes what my birth mother did for me. I cant wait to try and find her in a couple months. She really did give everything to me by giving me up.

Last year on my birthday (46th), I made a phone call that changed my life forever.  You see I was calling a number that was emailed to me from a woman who was searching for the son she gave up for adoption.  I made the call at 5:16pm.  She returned my call at 6:02pm; exactly 46 minutes later.  As soon as she answered the phone I recognized her voice; wasn't sure why until we talked.  She told me that she used to sing to me every day when I was in the womb.  Today a year later we have a wonderful relationship and our love has literally poured out into other aspects of our lives and those we are close to.  God does not work in mysterious ways and I believe that with all my heart and soul.  The gift He gave us last year is proof that God is working in each of our lives and know one knows adoption better than He.  Through His Son Jesus Christ we are all given to God through adoption.  My prayer is always for the child who feels abandoned and for the mother who gave a piece of herself to someone else.  This is a brave and wonderful thing for a mother to do.  I have been and will always be grateful for the choice my mother made that day back in 1967.  I love you Mom.

Giving you life and then giving you up was an event that changed my life completely. I decided not to have any more children; rather have a career and try to help others become successful and find their way. God has been good to me over the years. Then he gave me back his greatest gift to me... you. That minute 6:02pm on your birth day when I called you back was also the moment 46 years prior I had looked up at the clock on the hospital wall, after just giving birth to you a few minutes prior. We have marveled at how God really wanted us to know that this was truly a "miracle" by giving us these "signs". Especially in a time when people don't think there are really miracles like Jesus performed anymore. We know and understand they are performed everyday - you just have look around and be aware and believe in Jesus Christ as your savior. I love you son.

Makes me cry because I have two siblings who were adopted from Guatemala. The birth parents of Maria and the birth parents of Luke would be proud of them today. I love them so much.

I also have a cousin who was adopted from Guatemala. Her name is Juliana.

A yr ago i gave birth to a beautiful little girl and a yr ago a couple became a mom and dad. I dont regret my decision and this song explains why.

We only want the best for our children. It's hard but it's what has to be done sometimes..

Candy Blair as a foster mother and the mother of a daughter I adopted; we are not put upon this earth to judge. The strength it took for that beautiful woman to give her daughter a life she would not have been able to provide, the courage to carry that child and not abort it knowing she was unable to provide. The reasons behind her decision is not ours to know, but show some respect. I’ve seen what happens when mothers keep children and can’t raise them.

I kept my son when I was single, at another time and place, at that time, moms, if single were put in unwed mom's homes.  There was a lot of emotional manipulation going on.  There was no guarentee who would adopt your child, there was no communication, not even from a third party.  There was no open adoption.   I am blessed, because even though my parents disowned me and my brother and sister distanced themselves from me, God had my back.  The churches back then treated me like a pariah as well. They could not see that thier judgemental attitudes were worse than any sin I committed. But God gave me a God fearing husband and we had more children, to this day , my oldest looks more like my husband than the rest of our children do and they are all close.  Never be afraid to choose what God has placed on your heart to do, if it is right, He will back you and take care of you.

this song touches me closely bc i am not close to my birth mom. I have felt like I was abandoned at times. But God has a plan for everyone and thats why he placed me with who he did and kept me alive from suicide (caused by the way I felt) also.

You see, Mark was adopted and his birth mother was a single Mom.

Just as Cassi has mentioned before at adoption truth dot com, The FRC (Family Research Council) and the NCFA (National Center For Adoption) with all their research had to admit that a woman DOES NOT make a choice between abortion or adoption

This idea that women choose initially between abortion vs adoption is a HUGE fallacy. PLEASE educate yourself in what adoption entails in its entirety & not just the happy go lucky idea that choosing "life" over abortion. Those are not the 2 immediate choices a woman is faced with.

I see a lot of the comments on here and I'm surprised. Many on here are Christian and we are supposed to love others like Christ loved us but instead many are being nasty. As an expectant mom I could never willingly letting my child die, but I do not pretend to know the circumstances of every woman who makes the decision to abort. While I disagree with the decision, these women need to be loved like Christ loves them rather than attacked. We've all done things we're not proud of.

(4) She only was aborted by her mother at 5 and half months. I don't understand how can someone can kill an unborn baby. God please watch over Scarlet for me. Keep her safe and tell her she is loved by her daddy, her uncle, and her family. You belong here but you were taken away. I love you and I hope I can she you someday. Sorry for all the long messages. I just needed to vent my feelings.

(3) Now my brother and my family is heartbroken. We never got to see or hold Scarlet all because one selfish girl's stupid decision. She could of just give the baby to my brother and my family. Scarlet would be almost 1 by now and would have been a happy baby. She never got to see her father who loved her since he found out he was going to be a Dad. I miss her. I love my nephews and nieces like they are my own children. I still cry when I think about Scarlet.

(2) The baby grew and the doctors identified it as girl. My brother was happy to have a baby girl and I was happy to have a niece. He was going to name her Scarlet. But then things went wrong. My brother's girlfriend suddenly decided she didn't want her daughter and had a panic attack. She went down to the clinic and had my brother's daughter aborted( my niece aborted ). She didn't tell anyone what she did. She told my brother she miscarried the baby and lost it. She lied.

(1) Last year my brother got his girlfriend at the time pregnant. He wasn't supposed to have to have kids but the odds fell into his favor this one time. At first he was scared like any new parent but then he became happy. My family became happy for the possibility of a new family member. His girlfriend didn't want the kid though. At first she said she would give it to my brother and didn't want to be apart of its life. Then after sometime she wanted to keep it and help my brother raise it.

This song is truly amazing and beautiful made me cry so much as i had a beautiful little girl 6weeks ago and unfortunetly cantkeep her so have choosen to go down the adoption path. This song has really helped me know that im making the best decision for her and giving her the life i cant give her. Its the hardest decision i've ever had to make and as its early days i know it will get harder, so i thank you mark for this song and i hope in the future she will be able to forgive me and understand
