School Of Seven Bells - I Got Knocked Down (But I'll Get Up) Lyrics
Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
Sitting in a hospital bed
I want my life
I want my life
I want my life
It really sucks
It really sucks
It really sucks
Sitting in a hospital bed
Frustration going through my head
Take some drugs so I can forget
I, I want life
I want my life
I want my life
I want my life
It really sucks
It really sucks
It really sucks
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down
I got knocked down
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down
I got knocked down
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down, but I'll get up
I got knocked down
I got knocked down

Ben did all of this but he died so sad
I know he died
i love chumbawumba
Taking a Ramone song and making it sound good is a clear indication of genius.
Can you hear me Major Ben? Thanks for your music!! Thanks SVIIB!!
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is better than Chumbawamba's version.
I used to play this for my husband when he got cancer. Played it at his funeral too....
such a tragic loss
Beautiful.
I saw School of Seven Bells in maybe 2012 at the Echoplex in L.A. - already having great respect for them, they've always resonated with me - understatement..........shortly thereafter, I saw that Benjamin Curtis was sick and probably cried out to God in an instant, "Lord, heal him!" What an incredible soul and artist and my love is deeper and I am humbled beyond measure by Benjamin's parting gift. May we live in the spirit of all you've given us! I love you Benjamin Curtis!
Very special cover of this song. So typical with its SVIIB sound. I thank god for Alejandra and Claudia for making the world even more beautiful and I hope Benjamin is in heaven carrying on his angelic works.
still listening. will never forget. RIP Benjamin Curtis

Thank God I saw them live. I will never forget that experience. Alejandra is my spirit animal. It's like my soul speaks through her. I've never felt this way about music before.
There is something about the windmills at 0:45...She looks like she has aged before her time.
Haunting tune, beautifuly sung lyrics, makes me feel very sad & very happy at the same time.
Avoid hospitals at all costs, especially if you have cancer.
I am a fairly new fan of SVIIB but I have heard about their unfortunate past and what this song means to both fans as well as those involved with SVIIB. This song always brings tears but at the same time it sort of also makes me feel happy. It's just an amazing song in every respect
Beautiful video and one of my favorite Seven Bells songs :'(
Super schöner Song, leider wird es so etwas nie wieder geben, ich bedauere den frühen Tod von Benjamin Curtis
In the beginning when she's singing "I'm out of life" it kinda sounds like she's saying "I'm not alive"
How beautifully true, bringing out my tears and revealing how life can be so magnificent and so fragile.
Thank you for creating this music and sharing it with us.
SVIIB forever...
Can I get this on one of their albums?
+pastyhead80 It was non-album release but you can get the MP3 it at Amazon via Digital Download.
Thank you for posting this... absolutely full of life and beauty and a testament to their musical brilliance. Would it be possible to fix the audio so that it's in stereo vs. mono? It's an especially big deal for their music ;) Thx a bunch.
Holy hell, what a gut punch.
Achingly Beautiful. I cannot wait until February.
I've been thinking about this video for weeks.
This song and video are a great comfort for those going through grief and depression.
John Furman yup.
Rest in peace, Ben.
Rest in peace, Joey.
buen cover de Joey Ramone!
Making beautiful soundscapes right to the end. Respect, so much respect. Sleep well and thank you for all those wonderful places and moments in time that SOSB were the soundtrack to.
The shot at the end of this video as the camera pulls away from her stood on her own breaks my heart every time. Love SSVIIB!
RIP Ben. You were one of the unsung greats!
Simply love you. And I will ever miss you.
God bless you, Ben. Thank you for the music.
Mesmerizeing
BEAUTIFUL!
nice song
Makes me soar.
Moving last video between Ben and Alejandra...Ben the impetus, Alejandra who finishes it for them. Beautiful references to perseverance and intention for the future, the song is poignant in its celebration of life and death. I appreciate how Ben is woven throughout, as Alejandra moves through aspects of her grief (being alone, in touch with earth/sand, etc.), and ends with the final note of Ben pulling away forever...Alejandra left to carry the mission that was theirs. I wish the best for School of Seven Bells and hope that Alejandra sees fit to carry on its life-force. (Please come to New Orleans one day :) )
exactly, the sound like new order, respect! ;) Yes, cover.
круто!
This band has not really evolved in their sound at all since their second album. I really liked the first album a lot. Everything else not so much.
Watching the one you married and loved going through this exact song Joey Ramone or not it fucking hurts.... I just want him home.....
круто
I miss SSB SO MUCH.
School of seven bells is no more. The video said it all. She won't write and no one can replace the writer.... I was just recently diagnosed with cancer.... My music will live through my family....
Great tribute. He will be missed.
(Please make this available for other sites to upload.)
Only just putting my sad down about all of this. Miss you. Looking forward to new album.
This is just lovelly. I can't imagine how many thoughts and meanings are in this video. Thank you for your music. Bands like you make my life so much better. Keep going. We miss you.
Beautiful song and video. I only discovered their music last year and have been hooked ever since. I am so deeply sorry for Benjamin's passing. He truly is a gifted and beautiful musician and Ali's voice is beautifully haunting as well as her sister on the first two albums. I do hope hear more music from them in the future.
RIP Ben.
I hope we haven't heard the last of Ali's beautiful voice...
Why cant I embed it in a playlist??
Want to throw it into my "Best of 2014 so far"!
Oh yeahhh!!! new New Order!
this is so fucking New Order!!!! Great song!
Actually this is a song Joey Ramone cover.
yeah definitely new order drum beat. literally!
Why no embed? We want to share this video with our readers! The band has meant so much to us from the get go. Either way, good work. xoxo #neverforget
Shivers... Love you, forever.
RIP....
This has made me so happy..It's the silver lining of a very dark cloud.
Alejandra again looks healthy after a terrible year for her with the loss of the sublime Benjamin Curtis. We can celebrate his music, life and the legacy he left us.
Thank you Benjamin,Alejandra and Claudia (on the first two albums).RIP Benjamin.
Beautiful, amazing and sublime is this track.
Tahoe, Reno and outside Vegas? Damn this song and video make me appreciate living in Nevada even more that I already do, so beautiful. RIP Benjamin Curtis, you made some of the best moments of my life possible.
+Tucker Monticelli I suspect not. Much of the desert shots are ready recognizable to residents of Southern California's Antelope Valley, where I live. I've never seen Joshua trees around Reno (although I like the Reno/Carson City area very much, it is heartbreakingly beautiful up there and I am jealous you get to enjoy those views all the time). The large rock formation is Alpine Butte in an area of Palmdale called Lake Los Angeles. Windmill farm is in between Mojave and Tehachipi, shot from a side road near California Highway 14, including the areas with the very southernmost of the Sierra Nevadas, behind the windmills, probably shot in motion along U.S. Highway 395. Beach shots appear to be in either Ventura or Santa Barbara with Channel Islands in background, or somewhat less likely in Malibu with Palos Verdes in background. Streetscape appears to be from near Pico Boulevard, in Los Angeles' warehouse district just east of DTLA.
miss them even more
the deserts of the American southwest exist so that indie bands have a place to film music videos. Also, that was awesome.
we miss you ben.
C est dommage qu elle chante ,le son est bon la voix est trop dancefloor girly
Joshua Tree is a special, spiritual place. And you are special, spiritual musicians. Thank you.
Makes me a bit teary eyed.... Had the pleasure of meeting Benjamin once and talking guitars. Awww man....
Fitting tribute to Benjamin. You and your music will be missed a lot.
I miss this band so much. So happy to see this video. Beautiful version of Joey's classic song.
I <3 BENJAMIN
Yes. We miss you Ben. Thank you.
What a Beautiful work!
this is much different than the SoSB i've heard before. amazing.
Amazing, beautiful and haunting. <3
All my love forever...
This is so sad but beautiful, please keep making music. Thank you.
Amazing!
*wipes tear, but still smiling*
ces't la vie, as the French say.
This is an amazing cover of Joey's song. Unlike Joey's version, Benjamin's version seems to have a different perspective with Alejandra singing, as if she (and the rest of us) have to get up after being knocked down after losing him last year.
Bittersweet but beautiful. #bendidwin
Thank you Ben, and thank you Allie. May you both continue filling the universe with beauty on both sides of the biggest wall.
