Little known fact; but when David Lee Roth left Van Halen, the band asked Patty to take over. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME

She and Pat Benatar are definitely the predecessors to Martina Mcbride.

Patti blew away the vast majority of female (and male) rock singers of the day. I never really realized just how talented she was. She was the real deal.

Love Patty Smyth, Rinday Ross of Quarter Flash, Pat Banatar, and Ann Wilson of Heart. These ladies have amazing voices. Love this song and many songs of the 80s when i was in high school.

But this song was released in 1983.

I always confuse Patty Smyth and Patti Smith. why did they have names so similar.

Scandal was a band I was determined to hate when they came out. Because I was punk and they were pop and lame. But Scandal had huge talent. Watch their early video for Love's Got A Line On You. Who is that dude playing rhythm guitar? It's Jon Fucking Bon Jovi! Who is a cheesy goombah but still, the man is an entertainer of the first degree. And it's another perfect pop song. It's why we are enjoying their videos still today. If you can name a woman with a voice as sultry as Patty Smyth, go ahead. Okay, Debbie Harry, Martha Davis - they were akmost as luscious. But who else? Patty Smyth had a delicious voice. Her band was better than anyone wants to admit, and Patty Smyth, she was an immortal.

Unfortunately you can count the good cuts laid down by this brilliant singer on the fingers of one hand.

One my laudes of Rocking Roll she's awesome.

This is not the greatest song of the 80s by far but still, can anyone tell me a song in the last 30 years that is the equal of this little gem?

This was a really great song for her and the group.... too bad it only made it to #39 on the Billboard Charts. It so deserved much higher. Top ten at least. The lyrics, the rocking music, and her emotional belting out is what makes great music (imho). I know music is subjective and one man's meat is another's poison, but I think radio mainstream missed this gem.....

her voice still gives me goosebumps !!!. accidentally met her at peabody's in va bch when I had my three-year son for the weekend, the bouncers wouldn't let us in, but she spotted us way in the back and came out, running, to see my son, squatted down, looked up at me and said "he's so cute" ,I was speechless, think I said thank you !!! ... she's quite a rocker and a real sweetheart too !!!

Truly nice ,look back 1984 remember on radio stations play , and later buy cassette tape. Play so many times Day. In 1985 got see her in concert. Always enjoy classic hits songs, of 1980s. Fantastic song 100%.

I remember my dad hearing me sing for the first time when I was younger in my teens! He said I sang just like Patty! What a great compliment! Love her voice so much!

Beat of A Heart was that tune for me! It also amazingly charted at #41. The Kinks had 2 singles do that in their career; The Cars had three! Hard to believe a band had 2 like that from 1 album! Two missed opportunities to be commented on by Casey Kasem which was a big deal back then!

This album is stellar. It was overshadowed by the warrior single. Seems to be common theme with 80s bands (I am finding out). I just got this album a year ago. The whole band smokes.
