Say Anything - Wire Mom Lyrics

"You are a flawed machine," she said
"Hope that’s worth something"
We always clashed, even when we wore nothing
I said, "Hell yeah, you look so good when you’re crumbling"
The gloss and grandeur of molding tangerines and trashy magazines

You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home
You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home, take you home
Fake baby
Blood crazy
Pinprick wire mom dead daisy
Fake baby
So they can just take you home

My eyes are crossed, my will is lost and I’m wasted
Every queasy thought I’ve had is inflated
I puke onstage and slip, face plant and I’m faced with
The acid reflux remains of subjective truth
Still, I always knew

You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home
You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home, take you home
Fake baby
Blood crazy
Pinprick wire mom dead daisy
Fake baby
So they can just take you home

Beneath your bombast and the humor of syntax]
In carbonate a human being
Once you saw through me but now I’m an employee
So sick of it tired and wizened and free

You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home
You’re fake, baby, so we can just take you home, take you home
Fake baby
Blood crazy
Pinprick wire mom dead daisy
Fake baby
So they can just take you home, take you home

When people ask why I think Bemis is a genius, I tell them this: "I come up with songs all the time and will just write and write, but I never have the balls to sit down and slog it out into my recording software because visions change throughout the songwriting process and I end up feeling underwhelmed by the final product. Then comes the anxiety to put it out. But Bemis went through the same thing and pushed himself so hard his anxiety threw him into psychiatric wards on multiple occasions, just so he could get his music out there. He truly suffered for his art and I am both in awe and grateful. He's both the man I wish I could be and the man I'm glad I'm not."

Is the title "Wire Mom" a reference to that thing where they had a baby monkey with two fake mothers? One mother was made of soft cloth but wouldn't have any milk, and the other was made of wire but had milk. The baby monkey would only go to the wire mother for food, but would remain with the cloth mother for the rest of the time.
