Say Anything - Goshua Lyrics

I ask: "Are we born into anger or does it bloom like a cancer?
The one that consumed your father
For no good reason and severed his chapter?"
We’re divided by a wavering expression
And I drink too much to cut the tension
You think you live for attention?
Man, look what I do for a pension
If we could trade for a moment
I’d feed you the virus that made me a showman
Perhaps it’s a matter of good parenting
Either way I’m a former American

Cracked out in the morning light
Fleeing quickly on all fours
I’m in knots for you, Goshua, Goshua
Severed from a former light
Into the bowels of the night
This all for you, Goshua, Goshua

A wealth of sexual organs
With nowhere kind to export them
Gushing from the seams with your fluids
And steeped in ritual action like a half-baked druid
I remember when we were pubeless
I remember we knew nothing of hubris
I remember you were sure you could do this
Before you decided you’re heavy and useless

Thick black sugar-fed abstract blood sap
One gun, bang bang, where’s your riot act?
Thick black sugar-fed abstract blood sap
One gun, bang bang, where’s your riot act?

You feel the weight of nowhere
Do you feel it? Do you feel it?
Like all the kids you’ll never have come
To lynch you, lynch you
You are the "bitch they broke in"
You are the "whore they skinned alive"
Will they stand on you or will you stand up?
Can’t you even try?
You feel the weight of nowhere
Can you feel it? Can you feel it?
Like all the love you’ll never make
Has come to haunt you, haunt you
You are the "bitch they broke in"
You are the "whore they skinned alive"
I know you have the strength to fight back
So why don’t you just try?

Cracked out in the morning light
Fleeing quickly on all fours
I’m in knots for you, Goshua, Goshua
Severed from a former light
Into the bowels of the night
This all for you, Goshua, Goshua

I hate you saying pophead to me

  2. A.... P....

Answer: who are "they skinned alive"

  3. T.... S....

    what is this

  4. B.... ....

The only con about this album is that you really have to play it more than once, and unfortunately, too many people won't do that...they listen to thirty seconds of each song and decide it's horrible. Sad.

    B.... ....

Baela agreed. The lyrics are so damn good

    B.... ....

Baela It honestly is a bad album.

  5. E.... M....

this song hits so close to home it's scary

  6. A.... A....

Must be hard being male, white, straight, and cisgender. No wonder he's a "former american"!
    System totally rigged against him

    A.... A....

@Tiana Buchanan exactly, people take stuff way too literally, most song lyrics are metaphors and have meaning beyond surface level.

    A.... A....

Ashlynn Barker Oh because life can only be hard if you self mutilate and call yourself a made up gender.

If you drooling retards can't sort the difference between misogyny and personal beef in an artist's vision, then maybe their work isn't for you. Max's writing is a catharsis of his struggles, and he doesn't seem to dress down his metaphors when communicating that. The fact that you could shit on someone for their demographic while ignoring the fact that they have made an entire musical career out of their significant emotional, sexual, and psychological traumas is unreal to me. The band is literally named Say Anything. He doesn't write for you. Fuck you. He doesn't write and think "oh dear, better not offend the sensitive pearl clutchers while I write music ripping society a new asshole." Think about that for just a second. How horrid it must be to live a life fueled by social narcissism and to be blinded from any sense of artistic communication by your own preconceived biases. It's offensive. It's disgusting.

He literally wrote a song called "It's a Metaphor, Fool" just to penetrate the thick skulls of brainless zombies like you.

    A.... A....

... hes jewish, bisexual and not neurotypical.

The 2009 self titled tour was where I met the love of my life. The drum stick i caught still hangs on my wall. I love this band, every album, every song. Thank you so much Max & the guys. Watching the band evolve has made me in part who I am. Long live SAY ANYTHING>

  18. c.... ....

    Fucking LOVE IT

  19. S.... Z....

So many of my favorite old artists coming out with new sounds. Adding Bemis and friends to the list. <3

  20. B.... G....

    Seriously loving this new sound.

  21. D.... P....

what happened to you max...every song is just you screaming at the top of your lungs....why won't you sing anymore : (

    D.... P....

+Andrew Thompson I can think of Shameless, Alive With The Glory Of Love, Admit It!!!, Skinny, Mean Man, Eloise, The Stephen Hawking, and Boyd, all off the top of my head. There's obviously more because there's no EPs and he screams on Two Tongues records too. Lol. That guy must be one of the ones who doesn't get how Max isn't the same person that wrote Is A Real Boy. Your hypothesis might be correct.

    D.... P....

+Johnathan Ace the fact that yall aren't understanding what I'm saying is astounding me. every song on this record sounds like it was over produced and used the exact same effects on his vocals. listing a handful of song in which max clearly screams doesn't validate your point. I'm simply stating my opinion. yes I get this is supposed to be is ode to a hip hop album but I feel like he's stopped trying as much. yes he isn't the same person he was since IARB or even defense but self titled was a master piece. and anarchy was very good itself. I've always said SA could NEVER produce a song I would like however Hebrews left a bad taste in my mouth and I personally was left wanting more for this release. the "single" for this album is really good. but you can't deny these songs all seem to mesh together and all sound the same. and I don't need pics to prove that parker gives me a set list at every show. or that I posses the last stick coby Linder ever used live at there final show at the Republic in new Orleans. it's funny how no one is allowed to have an opinion these days. I'm not trolling. I'm just a fan who admits he's a little stuck in the past sure but don't piss on my opinion because it upsets you.

    D.... P....

+Drew Perri If you give us proof we will say we are sorry. Until then, you're dumb.

    D.... P....

+Andrew Thompson ok then how would you like your proof sir

    D.... P....

+Drew Perri check out their website, Max said that he wanted this album to be one that you could yell along to and throw on when you're angry because "we all need that album"
