Saxon - Afterburner Lyrics

I pull the throttle back
Ready to attack
Turn the bow around
Into the wind
Waiting for the rush
Engines on full thrust
We shoot a metal bird
Into the sky

Power screaming, burning
Afterburner, afterburner

Let the eagle’s cry
Launch into the sky
Like birds of prey
They circle high above you
We on the mighty beast
The challenger unleashed
The messengers of death
Will come among you

Power screaming, burning
Afterburner, afterburner
Afterburner, afterburner

I pull the throttle back
Ready to attack
Like birds of prey
They circle high above you
Waiting for the rush
Engines on full thrust
The messengers of death
Will come among you

Power screaming, burning
Afterburner, afterburner
Afterburner, afterburner
Afterburner, afterburner
Afterburner, afterburner

One of the best of late Saxon songs.

From the first time I heard this, I thought it sounds SO much like Judas Priest Freewheel Burning. And now, to see both Saxon and Priest from front row in April. :)

Sounds like Holy Wars By Megadeth

Irish Countryman Great observation on the opening. My thought has always been the verse and chorus, Judas Priest Freewheel Burning. In fact I just came here to comment abt that.

Irish Countryman Yes, am pretty excited, was somehow able to score front row to see both bands in Portland in April. :)

I seen Maiden last year in Dublin. A great gig. Seen Saxon twice and also met them via VIP experience. Never seen Judas Priest though but am waiting for a tour for them to come to Ireland

Galm squadrons theme, specifically Ciphers, imo.

With all respect to JP, but this song that comes along long after, seems to rock Freewheel into a burning, that tis why it is called AFTERburner.

I never expected a song to be so great from a band that has been around for so long, seems like they are getting better with age, who would have thought?

I think it's excellent, considering that this is their 19th studio album. I agree that modern Saxon albums aren't classics like ''Wheels of Steel'', ''Strong Arm of the Law'' or ''Denim and Leather'', but they're all damn good and consistent, very worth of Saxon's name. Today, Saxon is one of the most reliable metal bands along with Anvil and Motorhead, and I've no doubt that they'll give us a lot of great music in the future.
