Sawyer Brown - The Dirt Road Lyrics
Daddy worked hard for his dollar
He said some folks don't-but that's ok
They won't know which road to follow
Because an easy street might lead you astray
I'll take the dirt road-it's all I know
I've been walking it for years
Its gone where I need to go
Oh it ain't easy-it ain't supposed to be
So I'll take my time
And life won't pass me by
Cause it's right there to find, On the dirt road
I have lived life in the fast lane
You gotta watch your back and look both ways
You better make real sure you're headed the right way
[Chorus x2]

Sawyer Brown The Dirt Road Comments
Who is that lady at 0:51, hanging laundry ?
I proud of my dirt road life. This is one of the best songs ever written
One of my first concerts i ever saw was Mark and the boys. Good god that man can go. Lol
Grew up on a farm on a dirt road. Have my own farm on a dead end dirt road now and as far as I'm concerned it's the only way to live . Ain't got no money but what I got is mine . In my opinion this was the best song ever written and Sawyer Brown made it perfect.
used to ride my bicycle on a dirt road and reach my favorite fishing spot from a dirt road...
Ahh shnizzle !
what a great tune about butt sex
My uncle died and they had this song 1 like 1 prayer I miss my uncle
🤠 Music!
Daddy want sell the farm
I love this song... BUT...Sawyer is doing the epitome of White Dude Dancing. Deliciously cheesy!
Please listen to this early 90s country for once
Caden Monier
They finally got some gravel put down round here ..
Used ride dirt roads northport al
Love this song
Great 2-step song!
I love the dirt road . Love working with my hands . Heck most of my farm equipment is old IH or JI Case from the late 50's to the early 70's . Hard work but I own it . No bank can ever take my farm . Love the dirt road and 80' to mid 90's country music .
Hell Yeah Case IH.
When Country music was real!! I sure do miss the 2-step country beat, which today country does not have today.
I will be seeing them in September ,I am going to try to upload some videos of the concert on here.
"An easy street might lead you astray." What a great lyric!
My favorite country band for the last 35yrs and i just got to see them for the first time recently and wow amazing
I forgot how awesome these guys are .....Wish this music would return
weeell, no! This guy just doesnt appear like a true dirtroad guy! Pushing his ellbows together while moving these girl's fists up and down ... - he isnt made for dirtroad life ... . A catastrophe if his denims, or his hands, ever get dirty !!
Whenever I hear this song it reminded me of my brother highway hiking or hitch hiking
Kevin Spacey plays a mean banjo! at 0:47
Randy Solberg DO YOU HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE AS TO WHAT KEVIN SPACEY LOOKS LIKE??? LET ME ANSWER THAT FOR YOU. NO YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SLIGHTEST CLUE AS TO WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE
This is good country music
This is real country music here this isn't that rap and hip-hop shit I wish we had more of this kind of music
Robert Collins BITCH NO COUNTRY IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE COUNTRY GENRE WILL NEVER COME CLOSE TO SOUNDING RAP.OR HIP HOP FUCKING STUPID SACK OF SHIT
Robert Collins ALL WE HAVE IS STUFF LIKE THIS DUMB SHIT. TURN ON ANY FM COUNTRY STATION ON THE PLANET AND YOU WILL BE FUCKING SHOCKED AT HOW MANY SONGS ABOUT DIRT ROADS THERE ARE
I always found his dancing odd...dancing and men and country music don't go together. Just stand there and sing and show restraint
I really miss CMT.. I mean.. the real CMT
I saw them last month, best concert all month. It's sad that people don't talk about how entertaining they are to watch live..
Personal opinion: Sawyer Brown was much more enjoyable than the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill concert in Fargo the night before.
Seating was first come, first serve. I manged to get spot right up front and center for $35!
Every country video i see has multiple posts of how country aint country anymore. I damn near dont read the comments anymore but i have to admit its true. Its all pop sounding with some rap and im just like no thanks. A few keep it country though and im glad. I mean if a certain sound sells than make the money but i still personally want to hear country
Hello, Mr. Earl! We sure do miss your pick'n down here! ☹️
I was raised on Sawyer Brown so thank you SO MUCH for posting this video! And everyone should take the dirt road, it is the best way to find yourself and figure out who you really are.
solid country gold don't get better than this
I've been a-walkin' it for years!
I live and breath country dirt rds.
This song always reminds me of my Dad. He would pick me and my sisters up on the weekends and always took the dirt words and knew them like the back of his hand. He just retired 9/16 from CSX. He started there in 1978. Very hard worker, this song means so much to me, I cherish all the memories if the dirt roads we always took.
hey why__________ ------____-____.
I love the sound of gravels under a tire on a dirt road. I know Im home when I hear that sound.
I always love to hear his music
I'm surprised Earl didn't get a verse in this song.
God bless you.
Now this real country music
Join the conversation as opposed to
I went to one of their concerts. The best of country music that I know!
what ever happend to this kinda country music!? "I💔Radio" go to HELL! GOD BLESS GOOD MUSIC....
Right on I'm glad I'm not the only person that thinks this way so people just need to grow the hell up amen.
grew up on this artist also grew up on a dirt road I lol take a dirt r any day country born and raised
where are you now
apparently in Arizona in November
I don’t know what is keeping that other junk on the radio these days, unless it’s the teenagers that wouldn’t know country music from a violin. My teenager granddaughter loves what she thinks is country, but it sure ain’t.She don’t know who George Jones or Loretta Lynn is either.Pitiful😭
I grew up on this artist
love dirt roads
Dirt road all my life. This new generation of pussies need to hit the hard, dry dirt road to grow the hell up!
That's the truth there.
I agree. kids now days want everything handed to them. I learned young if you want something you work for it. my folks taught me that. growing up there were a few times I thought they were assholes but looking back now I'am glad they did what they did
Every single dirt road I used to run on as a teen and younger have now been developed. Sucks.
+Billie Anders I know exactly where you're coming from
this is the music that I grew up with I love country music
oh hell America, please drive a dirt road once in your life
I miss my dirt road in sc. We use to have so much fun.
They would'nt understand. If you ain't raised on one you have no idea.
I have lived on one my whole life ❤
Cant, they may chip their rims...
I remember them on Star Search a retro type of American Idol show. I think I remember them saying they got their name from a street in Nashville but not 100% sure. seen them in concert and they were awesome.
seen him in concert 3 times, and each was equally great.
Sawyer brown is the band's name, not the lead singer.
I hate going to comment sections on old music. Everyone only complains about how new music is trash.
+Luther Case you don't have to visit a 'comments' section to find out how crappy new country (?) has become. Johnny Cash summed it up pretty well when he was asked not long before his death about his thoughts on the direction country music was heading....and he replied something to the effect that most of it was poorly written rock n roll set to a country beat with a fiddle. Couldn't agree with ya any more than that, Johnny Cash.
WapitiShooter NEW COUNTRY DOES NOT SUCK OTHER.THAN FROM JOHN PARTY FRANKIE BALLERD CHRIS SHITPELTON FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE RASCAL FLATS AND KEITH URBAN
aleksander sokyrko BITCH THE COUNTRY GENRE WILL NEVER COME CLOSE TO BEING COMMERCIAL ANYTHING DUMB SHIT
Back when they knew how to write songs
this song is very old
Chris Mills SO WHAT THE FUCK HAS CHANGED??? THEY STILL KNOW HOW TO WRITE TO THIS VERY FUCKING DAY DUMB ASS
You can stop proving your stupidity ..... We ALL know you're an idiot.
one of my favorite songs
mine to
It's not easy its not supposed to be
great philosophy for life
the only time you can hear real country music here in South Carolina is on Sunday night from 10pm-12am on Retro Country USA. That's pretty sad.
this country would be better off if we all drove down a dirt road or gravel if you live in the upper mid west
dirt roads are the back bone of America, asphalt is for city folk, give ma gravel road any day. they can have the city sidewalks.
american is good taste people .allah bless you
It's okay sir, you can say God if you want to.
one of the 1st groups I saw on country music television, they should bring it back, still superb
so interesting to hear folks bitch about the newer music.... I was a kid listening to merle ..George...Conway...cash...and we hated it when these clowns came along
It's pretty sad when a person has to go on YouTube and watch 20 year old videos to hear real country music. I HATE modern country music and I am in my early 30's. I hate the fact that the new stuff is even marketed as country music. The old school guys are turning over in their graves. God bless the real country music artists. It's a shame that they paved the road for the pop artists that include the word "truck" in their music & call it country.
Erik Jensen
I wish CMT was back to what it started out to be . Ide have it on my tv all day everyday as long as they played the older country
Countrygirl countrymusiclover seems like a crazy bitch. She's why dude's dislike country girls these days. Nobody wants a psycho surprise along with their pretty country girl
And she also has no idea if talent because nobody she mentioned has the talent of Sawyer Brown, although there are new artists that do have his talent. She probably listens to bullshit YouTube "artists". My niece does and I cringe everytime. Can't get her to see real talent before people used computers and devices to clean up their voices
Your wright
Your right remember then.
Now this is the country music I remember. The newer stuff of today I just can't even listen to it. Sure I love my blake, luke, and Jason. But when you start mixing your rap with the country I am like no thank you. I really rather listen to this country music like Sawyer Brown the old greats I grew up with.
CraftyLady1981 BITCH NO FUCKING PERSON IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF THE ENTIRE COUNTRY GENRE HAS EVER CAME CLOSE TO MIXING RAP.IN THEIR COUNTRY SONGS YOU DUMB SHIT. THAT IS.WHY THEY ARE IN THE COUNTRY GENRE AND NOT THE RAP GENRE YOU FUCKING STUPID BITCH. IF THEY WERE RAP THEY WOULD NOT BE SINGING ABOUT THE COUNTRY LIFESTYLE AND THEY WOULD NOT BE BACKWOODS FOLKS FROM FARMS IN THE SOUTH. THEY ARE NOT EVEN TO RAP NOR DO THEY PUT RAP.IN THEIR MUSIC EITHER
countrygirl countrymusiclover What crawled up your butt and died? Ever heard Jason Aldean raping in dirt road song?
This is the country music that I was raised on and I'm 18 years old I only listen to the old country music this new country music isn't county its mixed with pop and rock and all that other stuff that they all music great county
you so right girl
there is real country still...it just isn't on TV or most country radio stations. look up Texas Country/Red Dirt music...Cody Jinks, Jason Eady, Sturgill Simpson...you will not be disappointed.
ok thanks
I'm surprised Earl wasn't offered a verse in this song.
I just noticed Earle Scruggs on the Banjo !
I've watched this a few dozen times and I just saw that
It’s weird. It’s almost as if they should have put it in the info flashed on the screen in the beginning!
i agree chad, nothing like this stuff anymore!
VIRGINIA, YEAH!
Cat From The Future it rather sad but in Virginia you have to drive two hours just to see a dirt road.
The dirt road, my dad kept us on there, but he wanted us to pave our road by ourselves. Had he made sure we took it without difficulty or pain we (me and my brother) would of did right his standards, yet took care of our families at the same time.
I miss good country music like this. If you turn the radio to a country station now days its horrible, I can't even listen to the modern country.
Chad Lindsey I agree with u 100%
Chad Lindsey BITCH THEN DON'T LISTEN TO ANY COUNTRY BECAUSE ALL COUNTRY FROM AS FAR BACK AS AT LEAST THE 80s IS LITERALLY JUST AS COUNTRY AS THIS IS FUCKING STUPID IDIOT
Chad Lindsey underwood..paisley...even miranda....nope..they just can't cut it with that fake crap
Truthfully BeatleJody813 Money is great to have and all but looking back on it you will be able to teach your son a lot more by having these hard times than by taking the easier road. Love and family are what matter. Worries are all real but we all have to deal with them I understand. Money is just a secondary thing.
It ain't supposed to be
It ain't supposed to be.
It ain't supposed to be.
Ummm ......... They haven't stopped.
IMPEACH NOW!
kiss my ass barack. God Bless America! God Bless Israel!!
Ok? Lol
Mark from Sawyer Brown is a Christian! I just found out the other day! So AWESOME! He is so Wonderful!!!
He also produces Casting Crowns.
I LOVE Sawyer Brown!!!! I miss them!
It was late 1991 and was I going through tough times when I heard this. It could not have been released at a better time and is a really good song. I love this group.
my gal won't let me take the dirt road
It ain't easy
Just found out that they are going to be close by this summer and I am going to do anything to make sure that I am there. They are highly underrated but all of the comments that are still made on their videos just goes to show that they did make an impact. I grew up listening to them and never really stopped. Actually have one of their greatest hits albums in my car at all times! :)
Lots of memories with this song... January 1994.
EverGreen Signature SB !!
Opps, did I ever mis-read the title, sorry.
Dave, you're everywhere! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
i love watching mark in concert, its only been twice but he has so much energy
great band and even better in concert! Fun Band to listen to
I could'nt agree more one of the best bands ever."The walk" is my favorite song by them
Just a great Band and song !
one of my fav bands ever. I was a big SB fan back in highschool in the 90s. Back when country was country. And Mark Miller is one of the coolest guys ever. The clothes he wears and the goofy dancing. I have serious respect for him. Wish these guys were still makin records.
RIP Earl Scruggs 1924-2012
The voice i had been searching for years! I found it at last. A heartfelt thanks and Love extended to the one who uploaded it.
ACC's #51 song of '92. God bless ya, brother Mark Miller! Thanx, charmy, for postin' it. Have a blessed weekend!
