Savoy Brown - A Little More Wine Lyrics

Oh, I'd be a rich man if I had all the money I owe
But to have that much I oughta' help them sell my soul
One and one make two, two and two make four
That figure don't drive the rent man from the door

Just got time for a little more wine
Just got time for a little more wine

One day I'll see my way to clear up the trouble and strife
I'll get a little joy, a little joy in my life
I think about the good times, the memories don't come clear
I feel like I'm goin', I'm goin' just a little down hill

I just got time for a little more wine
I just got time for a little more wine

But when I do remember the hopes I used to have
My face lights up and I crack a little smile
When I reach the end of my workin' life
I'll sit and say 'I wonder was it all worthwhile?'

I just got time for a little more wine
I just got time for a little more wine

But when I do remember the hopes I used to have
My face lights up and I crack a little smile
When I reach the end of my workin' life
I'll sit and say 'I wonder was it all worthwhile?'

Just got time for a little more wine
Just got time for a little more wine

chris youlden was a great song writer when he was with savoy brown. on his solo album nowhere road he was ok. after that he seems to have gotten lost.

This brings many fine memories from that era, I still remember the crowds rushing the stage when they led into 'Train to Nowhere'...this was at COBO arena in Detroit 1971.

Think I'll have a little more wine

    Chris Fucking Youlden!

I was already a fan when I saw them perform this at Cal State Northridge in 1970 (?). Youlden (now doing pop) was one of the great front men of all time, a natural blues man. Simmonds playing slide guitar and the late Lonesome Dave Peverett (Foghat) playing rhythm were a great duo. Too bad egos got in the way of the band's music! Listen to Simmonds licks on Louisiana Blues (Blue Matter). It's as good as, or better than anything Clapton was doing at the time.

Movie clip is famous "Nih, Nih, Nih .. " from Easy Rider. Later Nicholson does the Nih Nih after a long toke on a joint.

    @maida1982a

    Great they were.

  11. R.... J....

    @maida1982a I totally agree

  12. M.... T....

what movie is that clip from?

  13. T.... O....

    Love the sound of vinyl!

I think it was 'Looking In'. I remember a snow storm in Houston, TX and I was ina tree stand with a fine girl...clean white snow everywhere. I was a boy at the time. She made me a man before the storm subsided.

No knick, knick, knick...wine BTW. I think we were doing Psilocybin...anyway. Unbelievable.

  15. S.... ....

    wooo... that's pretty hard...
    you're not from the monarchy...am i right ? :)
Poor girl...this world is sometimes wild and not so gratefull...
but Sienna is a pretty name... good choice !

  16. t.... ....

@ the time I was 1st listening to this album I was an 18 yr old junkie...od'd...was taken care of by a girl named Sienna McDougal...(her father had just been killed by 2 junkies!!!...named my daughter SIENNA!!!

  17. P.... m....

Great BAnd...but sadly without Chris Youlden they sounded just wack....

  18. S.... ....

I know them just by name since my teens... but i never buy one of their album...After a few listen in allmusic savoy brown discography... i think that this album ... Raw Sienna is my fave savoy album...this lightjazz touch in their solidblues seeds even reminds me 2z band "If" ... Youlden-Simmonds was the winning combination of their carreer... too often magic moments never last long...
Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac & Rolling Stones fans of the 68-72 years...can vibrate!...& now i want to buy it!

  19. C.... ....

You are so right- they hit a peak with Chris Yolden, made some great records.

  20. a.... ....

Raw Sienna - lotsa people had that on their turntables in the 69-71 era.

  21. D.... B....

All this brings back some great memories! You could have bought their ablums just for the are work alone but once you had a long listen to the tunes they played and your were hooked!
