Right, he had to change his vocal delivery because he kept throwing his voice out and couldn't keep singing like that.

Their record company told Chris that their album before this one, "In Reverie," strayed too far from the sound of "Stay What You Are" so they basically told him to start working on a new record immediately. That crushed him, naturally, so I feel like his vocal style & lyrical content on this album was a his way of stickin' it to them.

Yes, like the others said, he damaged his vocal chords, singing with such intensity and raw emotion early on in his career. He was amazing back then. I still like him, but he was so great back then when he still had his full voice.

Dude. I've been a fan of STD for as long as I can remember, and I just barely found out there was a video for this track.. And sure enough, I see a bunch of stupid kids that know nothing about the band hating on them. F***. It really makes me sad.

My Chemical Romance formed in 2001, during the heatwave of the hybrid of scene and emo kids, and broke uip after releasing their highest selling album and completely changing their look.
One band pioneered this genre, one band stumbled onto the radio with a half assed version of it.

Saves The Day has quite a few quality albums and songs. My Chemical Romance had ONE good album, being I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.

MrJaneyDoe, MCR didn't break up after their best-selling album. They released an album after that which didn't sell much. Then they broke up. Just thought I'd clear that up. :P

Perhaps, if you compare him to radio artists. The problem is Saves The Day has never been that type of band. Look at similar punk and emo bands that came up around the same as STD, they were VERY successful. Besides all that, the fact that he's been able to support himself during his bands career solely by playing music for people is clearly success (look at Anvil, those dudes have grocery store jobs).

@mastertracuer have you ever thought that they just MIGHT have chosen to NOT go to a major label. just because they arent Green Day doesnt mean they arent amazing. Sound The Alarm was a great fucking album, admittedly this was a weaker song, Daybreak was amazing. Saves The Day have like the most supportive underground following of any band i know, except maybe Bayside.

I've liked almost all of their albums exceeept Through Being Cool and Can't Slow Down. Yes, I said it. Sound the Alarm is my favorite next to Daybreak, but don't be fooled. Under the Boards was still a great album especially the last half. And In Reverie, I don't get why so many people hate on that album. It was a solid album overall. And well Daybreak. It was amaaaazing!

People hated on in reverie because that's when they really reinvented their sound and people weren't ready for it. But it's my favorite.

@weakweek85 he sounds fairly constipated on the first few records. not a fan of it. his modern voice isn't perfect, but i prefer it overall. he sounds a lot more comfortable with his "new" voice on daybreak, to me.
