Zach Smith's bass riff is the best riff ever written. This is a great choice for a cover but not much chop really. Nobody does Pinback better than Pinback.

Ew not really. Its just alot slower. And seeing that its about a fish with an air bladder problem, I think it's safe to say the song wasnt so much about the lyrics than the music. Its cool if you like it more, but its not like "deeper" than the original, they just play it slower, removed everything but guitar and vocals and raised the volume of the singer : p

I.... I can't believe people are comparing this to pinback's original version as if it's a valid point. It's a cover. There is no better or worse version. Good god mankind is doomed.

Of course people would compare them, its pinbacks song, and these guys are doing their own version of it. Its cool if you like, its not my style, dont like this look at me kinda singing music. But its just not what im into. I love the original though, and I dont think this version is the best version of the song. Its fine if others do, though. But its by no means such a far out idea that people would compare the remake to the original.

I don't think listening to music you enjoy rather than music you don't enjoy is a valid enough point for mankind to be doomed. I don't think comparing things is bad either. Whoa, dude. Pinback's been my favorite band since I was 14 and Soasin has been up there, too. This is a beautiful tribute by a talented band. No need to hate so hard on Saosin.

definitely not pinback's best song though. imo rob crow is the 2nd best songwriter alive next to paul mccartney..but im a songwriter with 3 albums and an ep out on itunes, google play, spotify, etc. myself and pinback was a large influence so I am pretty partial to them..

I personally think the song is so original. The lyrics, the tone, the whole feel of the song is something different. A lot of Pinback's music is hard to relate to (at least for me) but this one is different. This is also very different for Saosin and what they usually did. Big ups for both bands in my opinion

@Monica Taylor nope, the composers (Pinback) have stated it is about a goldfish. Zachs Twitter page even has a pic of a goldfish in a bowl with a label that says "penelope". Its for real about a goldfish. This group did not write the song.
