I agree the Alex era of Santana were clearly the best. I mean we had Inner Secrets, Marathon, Shango, and Zebop. I love that time. But then it was like the best time for music all around. from like 76 to 81 the music was phenomenal

the Alex-era Santana was clearly the best ever. The songs were the greatest and production was top notch and the musicians second to none. Knowing this material exists, i don't even listen to the sub-par earlier Santana stuff hardly at all anymore. Alex is very likely one of the greatest singers alive today.

If you consider early Santana the Subpar stuff, then you're clearly NOT a longtime follower of the band. That was the Meat & Potatoes of the musical dish they were serving up... Although I like the Alex era, this is definitely the watered down preservatives of the Santana Sound !🤷🏽♂️
