Sambora, Richie - Harlem Rain Lyrics

The old man down on the corner
Is drowning in his pain
I can see the sorrow in his eyes
His tears, they leave a stain
The streets have left him broken
He's in the final phase
It's been a long hard road
From his glory days
There's a tattoo of his sweetheart
Fading on his arm
He talks of painful tragedy
How he lost his lucky charm
His memory is clouded
From the thunder in his vein
He's vanishing, vanishing gone
In the Harlem rain

Harlem rain coming down
Another shattered soul
In the lost and found
One more night
On the street of pain
Getting washed away by the Harlem rain

On desperation avenue
The devil takes his tall
Where the pushers and the poverty
Slowly claim your soul
When you reached the realization
That you just can't break the chain, no
You're vanishing, vanishing gone
In the Harlem rain

Harlem rain coming down
Another shattered soul
In the lost and found
One more night
On the street of pain
Getting washed away by the Harlem rain
(Harlem rain)

In your search for tender mercy
No one seemed to care
The faith that used to be your crutch
Is now your cross to bear

You lost yourself so long ago
You don't know who to blame
You're vanishing, vanishing gone
Vanishing, vanishing gone
Vanishing, vanishing gone
In the Harlem rain

Richie is good, but nothing compared to Jon in his prime. JBJ was something really special

    @mihn luy still is Special

A tale of a destitute man on the streets,
could've been one of our veterans,
or the neglected youth of today & tomorrow..

Great song, always come back to it!
Richie wrote this for people in Harlem who were having trouble getting bye. I think living in these times alot of people can relate to this.

    UNbowed62

    Indeed! Here in 2019🎶🥰

  14. John Cusato

I know he write this with Richie Supa but it's a great song.  Showing himself as a solo artist, and all that.  Having said that, what he's got with JBJ is special within the band.

    coconut grove

John Cusato Richie Sambora would make any band special. His voice, writing skills and guitar abilities are very special. Not a businessman in the way JBJ is and as the band went from "band" the corporate machine his time with them deminished. That was a good thing. No one of his caliber needs to remain a follower, at some point ones dreams need to be followed and as his life draws closer (as everyones does) he can be happy writing and playing as he chooses, those of us who find his music so emotional and easily understood will follow and support him. Others may not but that is our personal choice.
