Idk if you get these messages but im trying to reach out.
I formally was a top nightclub mix DJ in the early1980s. Primarily funk and disco. I worked in dinosaur clubs that allowed a thousand or more to dance. Depending of course wich club i was working at that time. Most had a average of 1 thousand to 5 thousand people a night.
From my past experience im going to depart some wisdom i gained.
There was a artist named debbie deb for example. She had a great career potential but a limited mix DJ artist doing her mixes. It killed her career early. The potential was there tho. So her success was short lived and limited.
Your problem is your recording studio also. Your recording of dont say you love me, is not near as good as your live recording on audiotree. You have 3 smash hit songs on audiotree. Sadly tho its unpurchasable on label. Because the label recording is not hit songs. Infact its not very good at all. Pleasi Samantha im being hard but truthful. Better painful truth than flattering lies.
Samantha i do not record. Im not selling anything. Im just a successful retired DJ giving advice in my humble opinion. Get a new recording studio. Remake dont say you love me. Ask audiotree to if you can produce a record of those 5 songs with a few more. Samantha rerecord it if you have to. The first 3 songs on audiotree are all hits.

Samantha im all for ya. Love your writing skills, your voice, your licks, you have the full package and are well seasoned. Its now or never. Your not getting younger. You are the greatest since led belly and billy holiday. Your songs will smash either with you now, or by someone else after your dead.

Love the video as it truly reminds me of New Orleans and fits the southern blues bayou feeling.

This feels ...contrived. Like someone said," I'll pay for a video, but I want it done * fas t*. Have her throw together a song, something simple, we'll shoot a video about it in a couple days and get it out there!" Her soulfulness feels forced, I don't hear * her * in the guitar. The vocals don't sound like her, the guitar and overall musicianship doesn't sound like her, she barely looks like her in this. TL;DR - I'm kinda disappointed

It seems like she's at her best when she's live on stage and Just-Letting-It-RIP. In some ways, this video is alternately trying too hard and not trying at all. Perhaps Samantha, her managers, production company,whatever, just needs to find a venue, do 3-4 shows in a row and record the whole damn thing with a pro sound and video crew, edit it to best bits and release that. There's live, hand held by a drunk, 3 megapixel stuff of her out here on YouTube that presents better than this particular production piece.

Samantha is better than this and deserves to be the face and name of better work than this.

I understand if i get dragged over the coals for this post. She's earned a LOT of love for her work so far, deservedly so. But ask yourself...If this was the FIRST thing of hers you ran across, not having heard of her before, would you be looking up other work by her? Honestly, I would not.

Samantha Fish wrote it about the loss of a loved one to suicide. So I think you're off on a lot of what you say about this song. That said, I enjoy her music less with every album. Her first one was perfect. I prefer her as a blues artist in a three piece band. I still like her stuff but it keeps drifting more from the type of music I typically go for.

I see what you describe here but I interpret it differently. The audio is from the sessions for the "Belle of the West" album on which the song appears. It's a haunting, uncomfortable song, a lot less overtly commercial than others she's done. I don't expect a lot of money was available for making this video, but that doesn't mean the people who made it don't care; just the opposite, really.

Nice job on capturing the storyline of the song. Looking forward to catching more Sam Fish shows this spring and the summer festival season.

While I like the song a lot and the video is interesting, I still don't get any actual story out of it; more like hinting around the edges of a tragedy that's left (intentionally, I suppose) undefined.
