Sam Cooke - You Send Me Lyrics

Darling, you send me
I know you send me
Darling, you send me
Honest you do, honest you do
Honest you do, whoa

You thrill me
I know you, you, you thrill me
Darling you, you, you, you thrill me
Honest you do

At first I thought it was infatuation
But wooh, it's lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting
To marry you and take you home, woah

You, you, you, you send me
I know you send me
I know you send me
Honest you do

Whoa, whenever I'm with you
I know, I know, I know when I'm near you
Mmm hmm, mmm hmm, honest you do, honest you do
Whoa, I know

I know, I know, I know, when you hold me
Whoa, whenever you kiss me
Mmm hmm, mmm hmm, honest you do

At first I thought it was infatuation
But wooh, it's lasted so long
Now I find myself wanting
To marry you and take you home

I know, I know, I know, you send me
I know you send me
Whoa, you you you you send me
Honest you do

Are you stupid, man? Michael Bolton was 4 years-old when this song came out, dumb-ass.

  38. J.... D....

A major influence for a whole lot of singers that came after ... after hearing this check out Steve Perry of Journey and Rod Stewarts' phrasing, breath control and delivery ... just to name two that he has had a obvious influence in their musical roots ...

Today In Music History: December 2, 1957 - 62 Years Ago Today: Sam Cooke began a 3-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 Chart with his single, "You Send Me." This was Cooke's debut single on the charts and it also spent 2 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Best Sellers Chart (which ceased publishing on October 13, 1958) and for a single week atop the Billboard Jockeys Chart (which ceased publishing July 28, 1958). The single also spent 6 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Chart. Although the song is credited to his younger brother, L.C. Cook, Sam Cooke actually wrote the song. It was originally intended as the B-side to Cooke's version of "Summertime," but DJ's around the country preferred the B-side and began heavy radio rotation and it became an instant hit. It has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and ranks at No. 115 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Sadly, Cooke died of a gunshot wound on December 11, 1964 at the age of 33. He was shot by a female motel manager under mysterious circumstances. Cooke's nephew was singer/songwriter R.B. Greaves, best known for his 1969 hit single, "Take A Letter Maria." Between 1957-66, Sam Cooke had scored a total of 43 singles on the Hot 100 which included 29 Top 40's, 5 Top Tens and one No. 1. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and posthumously was the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement in 1999. [12/02/2019]

  84. A.... G....

Only thumbed down because the description said The next elvis Presley is Sam Cooke. Please tell me how the inventor of Soul. Is anywhere near somebody who just made Rock N Roll popular. So Louis Jordan, Big Mama Thornton, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, And Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup.

Furthemore Crudup made that's All Right and even Elvis Presley said "If I had any ambition, it was to be as good as Arthur Crudup.” Hound Dog was made by Thorton years before Presley did a cover of that song.

Finally, you wouldn't have the likes of Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Bobby Womack, Jackie Wilson, etc. Because Sam Cooke invented the template for others to go on make soul music.

So before I hear anyone compare someone who invented a genre to one who simply popularized a genre. Get your history straight.

  85. G.... F....

his voice makes me feel so elegant.

  86. A.... H....

People had such a better grasp on music back then, because they weren't spoiled with so much stimulation overload, so they were more in tune with their surroundings. They worked a lot, so they would sing or whistle while they went about their day, because that's what people naturally do when their mind is relaxed and clear, but still wants something to do. So music comes naturally during times like that, and tunes and rhythms will just come to the naturally musical, and there ya go.
Nowadays, the conditions aren't right for us to naturally fall into musical creativeness.
That's why we hear something like this, and are in wonderment at what a difference there is between the actual musical ability of people back then, and people nowadays.

  87. G.... L....

Voce stupenda, come solo loro possono fare, black music great🖤

  88. B.... L....

Correct, next to Sam Cooke, Little Richard, Jackie Wilson and James Brown then maybe Elvis.

  89. d.... z....

Steve Perry seems to have studied all his phrasing from Sam Cooke. It’s amazing how much they sound alike!
