seeing as this song is satire about the hypocrisy of modern religion i think the motherfucker is perfectly well placed. i agree that they dont want this song to played on christian radio, because of how easy it is to listen and not realize its satirical. they have other songs like this one such as "you do it well" and "dear dictator" which take the same satirical tone as this song. to put it succinctly, this song isnt christian and it goes hard as hell

I think that the song is basically making fun of the fact that you can get a sort of a Get Out of the Doghouse Free card with society if you pretend to become religious, start going to church and "see the light" and people will forgive and forget, whereas if you just stop doing whatever it was you were doing and try to be a better person, people remain suspicious of you.

Really the most boring song of them yet. Sounds like something in the radio you simply listen to but afterwards not remembering what you heard.

I disagree. Alternative rock song about religious satire? The lyrics are interesting when you look at them in an ironic way. Yeah it has a catchy riff, any song sounds like 'something on the radio' when you aren't paying attention to the lyrics.

I usually say this to a lot of songs, but this one stuck with me a lot. Mostly because of the lyrics.

I know its a stupid question but do they really say that they are Christians?

It's a commentary on the idea of being "born again" as a "get out of jail free" card. They said it was inspired by a friend of theirs who was sent to a born again camp and they didn't hear from him for years but recently reconnected.

I read an interview with A/J and he said basically that his friend wasn't allowed to see him bc apparently A/J was a bad influence on him and when they reunited he was a born again Christian and A/J hated that idea, but he said the song doesn't take a side and it's more of a dichotomy on the issue. I personally am a Christian and still enjoy both sides of the argument this song poses.
