I loved this when I was a kid. Still do. I may be overintelectualising a bit but I think they were a uniquely high-concept band. Their looks, their music and their lyrics were all projecting the same image. Sailors in a night on the town. Any town or city around the world. Such happy music.

The difference is that in the 20th century songs were written by inspired people, even if it's a silly little ditty like this or some timeless classic the people who wrote them did so because the muse came to them. Now with Max Martin and his ilk we have production line song writing based on a computerised chord program and auto-tune technology. The only thing human about the popular music industry these day are the poor suckers who listen to and buy the 'product' and the fat cat corporate capitalists (barely human) who profit from this artificially manufacture music market. Long live Sailor, Pilot and Racey and all those disposable acts of the 70s.
