Saga - So Good So Far Lyrics

We're on the bus, we're lost again
We shot the driver in the head
We found ourselves in old San Juan
The fire brigade had to cool them down

The key won't work, kicked down the door
Room numbers right, but it's not my floor
We're in Quebec on a bumpy road
Jake was airborne in the mobile home

[Chorus:]
Close your eyes and picture this
This is who we are
I sat down and made a list
So good, so far

We bought a saw at Mobile One
It's hard to check in with handcuffs on
In Caracas we came too soon
We found a mummy in our dressing room

One day we lost one hundred grand
It cost that much just to play Milan
I found my face in Bild Zeitung
It's not my car and I'm not that dumb

[Chorus]

They carved a hole straight through the wall
The only way to get in the hall
An open air, the crew backed up
Never sleep under a ten ton truck

[Chorus]

We stopped the bus and blocked his car
Does he still wonder where his keys are?
It's time to eat, here comes the crew
A fire extinguisher clears the room
We're on our way to the show
Do we need guns in our limo?

What goes up must come down
We needed more, so we stuck around

Danke!

Joy, tears, 3 a.m. Angry, anger about things that are happening in the world. Listening to music as a distraction - since I have known SAGA, I never really had a "favorite group" as a nothing little Musician. Until ... A Friend invited me to his birthday and said: "Listen to this" .... My God Gentlemen! ... how long ago was that ... Images at Twilight ... I could continue talking or writing ... no .... Thank you Michael, thank you Jim, thank you Steve, thank you Ian and everyone who followed. Thank you for this unforgettable music. Thank you!

  11. Henry Stoll

There is not, nor has there ever been, a better band than SAGA! They are not my favorite band, but the level of musicianship and vocal prowess on display at this concert, is staggering! Ian Crichton is perhaps the most precise guitarist I have ever seen, I swear he has a metronome hard-wired into his brain! Watch this concert, these guys are still absolutely on top of their game! And there's only been a few bands ever who could come close to their level of precision! ROCK OF AGES is amazing!

  18. Thomas Apel

The movie is great, the sound of the band is o.k., but the audience seems a little bit "uninspired"!

    Derek Baker

I was thrown off by the mix. At one point, Jim's keyboards almost disappear from the mix while he's clearly playing, and - yes - the audience is hard to hear.

Here's what I think is going on. Since this is a release on DVD/BluRay, it will have a 5.1 mix for surround sound and perhaps a 7.1 mix too. In a 5.1 mix, the audience sounds mainly come from the two rear speakers, with a bit coming from the front left & front right speakers. In a 7.1 mix, some of the audience sound comes from the rear speakers & some comes from the extra two speakers, which are located at the left & right sides of the listening room.

As for keyboards in a 5.1 mix, they usually get panned to the front left & a bit to the centre channel, or the front right & centre speakers. However, if the producer and mix engineer decide to be creative, they may change the panning of instruments during the song to highlight solos or other changes in the music, by moving the soloing instrument closer to the centre/front of the mix, while moving a backing instrument further to the side and/rear channels.

So, I suspect that whoever mixed the audio for this video just collapsed the three front speakers into a stereo mix & did not incorporate the rear speakers from the 5.1 mix, or did not use the side & rear channels from the 7.1 mix. So, if the panning of the keyboards changed at a point in the song, then the sound levels could have changed in a faulty stereo mix, even if the volume of the keyboards in the 5.1 or 7.1 mix was kept constant. Specifically, if the keyboards were panned to the left front and rear (or side) speakers & this stereo mix didn't use the audio from the rear/side speakers, then the keyboards would get very quiet, even though they wouldn't sound quieter in the 5.1 or 7.1 mix.

Usually a DVD/BluRay of a movie or concert includes a stereo audio track that can be chosen if the viewer does not have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system. Let's hope that the stereo track on the DVD/BluRay was done properly, rather than the erroneous one in this YT video!

This video gave me a rush watching it. I can't believe how great they still sound. Saw them in 1986 in Chicago. Unfortunately they never toured the states again.
