Saga - Pleasure And The Pain Lyrics

As the years come around
With our triumphs and downs
We were there for the pleasure and the pain
Not in our wildest dreams
Did we know that we'd sing
Twenty summers of songs that stage
There's no one to blame
We put ourselves on the frame
That's just part of the pleasure and pain
We're not tired of the game
We just dropped on to play
And you are no stranger, today
I see a bright sky, no rain
And as time seems to fade
It's all been a pleasure, no pain.

(while singing UFO's "Rock bottom....") Terrible, really really terrible.... I've been a Saga fan since 1982, and this really was the worse album they ever made, the bottom of the vortex, where all the filth is gathered. This doesn't even sound like Saga, was it maybe released on an April's Foolday ? Did someone label the incorrect recordings as being those of Saga ? I don't know what happened that year to the band, they seem to have had collective hallucinations or sheer madness. Did their tourbus tumbled a few times in a sharp U turn ? The good news is, a few albums later, it went back in the good direction. But the best use for this CD is to put your glass on, since it can't be erased completely.

I find it more creative than their post-Marathon input, but everyone's got different taste

@pilotfish Creative is not the same thing as artistic. A 4 year old too can be very "creative" in making "primitive art". So, this is not an argument.

Generally considered their weakest album by fans. If Generation 13 (previous album) was a bold new direction, this was a step back to what seemed like rock filler that appeared on the previous few albums, and whatever cool keyboard or synth playing they once showed with prowess, now gone.

The best track is arguably the title track, but appearing here it comes off like a warped rehash of a No Regrets, a fantastic track off Saga's from World's Apart.

the title track is an indication of the band coming Full Circle after 20 years, maybe, hence the title of their 1999 album ; and which fans by the way? those who only have In Transit and Worlds Apart ? ;-) it's a very good album, just dry stripped-off effects rock, with electro on tracks 4+8, something very 1997 in fact, Saga has always been an ever-changing beast, for this one they decided to bury the synths a bit in the mix, but listen closely, they're still there

I will say this, it's hard to actually trash Saga, as they are one of the best, most underappreciated band over the last few decades. Also, props to you for the re-mix job on these. Kudos.
