all great, great bands. that kind of talent or musicianship is extremely rare nowadays. Musicians today pick up a guitar, learn three chords and call themselves guitarists. Disgusting! There's more to learning an instrument than learning how to play E, A and D chords or barre chords. What ever happened to virtuosity or learning how to play a "solo"?
If you're looking for virtousity there's plenty of it both in contemporary progressive rock and heavy metal. Try Haken, To-Mera, Maschine just to name a few

Saga and Rush are favourites. I don't care for Kansas, except for the power album. I am a fan of Steve Morse.

TRust was one of the best albums of the last decade IMHO. I really thought SAGA were washed up, I didn't even buy any of their more recent albums (now I have 'em all, of course, cause they're AWESOME) , but then they released this epic, epic album and just blew me away. I gave it a listen at the record store just because I was curious what it would sound like and I was just amazed they pulled one like thsi out of the hat. This album reminded me how much SAGA rules.
Steve Negus (Super Drummer), I miss you very much. You were a great role model for me. No one comes close to your category .. Just like Jeff Porcaro you have had your own style .. I love the way you play the drums ... I was present at many concerts of SAGA ... What ever happened to SAGA ..? I wish my old band back with the SAGA sound .. Jürgen from Cologne
