Sabaton - The Hammer Has Fallen Lyrics

Here I am standing, darkness all around.
Thinking of past, taken my last breath, the air is cold as ice
No one close to hear my voice
Did not leave me with a choice
Heaven will you wait for me?

Will I find a way, will I find a place
Will you let me go in peace
Will I find a way to the other side.

Sad are memories from the life I lived
Cannot go on, cannot go further
I has to end right here
For the things that I have done
All the girls I lost and won
Let me rest in peace at last

Will I find a way, will I find a place
Will you let me go in peace
Leave behind those dark days
No I ask again will you hear my cries
Then you realize why oh why
I must find a way to the other side.

Hear them whisper calling out my name
The sentences is set, the hammer has fallen
I have paid the price
Sad to realize to late death was meant to be my fate
All this pain will follow me.

I've never heard Joakim whimper like that!

  4. a.... d....

every time I hear the beginning of this song i think its a bard from skyrim

  5. S.... H....

I love the poetic nature of this song, it is about death or sucuide. Either way hard core.

  6. S.... H....

This is one of the weird sabaton songs that starts soft and then quickly gets loud.

  7. M.... M....

3:52 I thought it said "Heaven whispers."
    Still good either way.

  8. L.... M....

1:27 I feel like I should have expected that, still spooped me tho

  9. D.... H....

In my humble opinion, I see interpretation of this song in a way that the man may be a german officer (of any branch) facing a sentence for his crimes and this entire songs is about him realising what he had done and he asks for forgiveness.

But this is only my own interpretation.
(No, not all Germans were Nazis.)

it's almost as heartbreaking as Ballad of Bull :'(

    N.... ....

Ballad of the bull isn't much , but Price of a mile and End of war to end all are TOO very emotional

    N.... ....

@Frequency Epic AmericanBuddy bruh, Ballad of Bull isn't much? Have you even heard it? Ok maybe I'm a bit biased cuz I'm an Aussie and the song is about an Aussie but still, it hit me right in the gut.

    N.... ....

@Northstar3E Ballad Of The Bull and Flanders Fielda is way more emotional than the songs that have electric guitar.

  16. C.... O....

This is what im playing at my funeral

  17. J.... H....

Gonna be honest, when I first clicked, I didn’t expect this. I was expecting something like the fall of the Soviet Union. Y’know the hammer and sickle? Or when I started listening, maybe the Berlin Wall? “Find a way to the other side.”

  18. S.... G....

Okay, so I have a rare form of PTSD and listening to Metal actually helps me suppress the signs of it...this song does the opposite

    S.... G....

You got PTSD, first of all

  23. L.... S....

Why couldn’t “War to end all Wars” gone like this

    L.... S....

Because we have In Flanders Fields.

    L.... S....

Good to know that I am not the only one who thinks that War to End all Wars should have been a calm, heartbreaking ballad for the most of the song like the intro...

  24. I.... R....

I was listening to a playlist and this came on and I was like: "I'm listening to power metal what the fuck is thi- oh, it's Sabaton."

  64. Z.... F....

Every exam session, I listen to this song, and I feel like I am this dying man.

    Z.... F....

And months later, I feel like I found a way to the other side.

  65. A.... v....

The saddest thing about this song: Many soldiers were like that when they were dying. Soldiers, who had nothing to do with war, or war crimes, since those who were doing them, lived on, or had no regrets when death came for them. There is no war, that was worth the sacrifice of those ordinary people, paying price, for crimes of people, who never set foot alongside common soldiers. Humans lose their humanity, because of being on the battlefield, no one is excluded from that. During battle, you’re quick or dead, no time for remorse, mercy or doubt. All of this, most of the time(if not all the time) for cause, that is rotten to the core, only disguised, as something greater, then greed, fear or hate. You can take human from the battle, but you can’t take battle out of human. Wars are always waged, by old people, but young people die in them. True saddest truth of war.

    A.... v....

I'd like to recommend you to listen the song "the price of a mile", it's about the battle of Passchendaele... In that battle almost half a million soldiers died conquer 6 miles

    A.... v....

@J. Lev Thank you, but i watched that many times by now. 1914-1918 world war casualties, were an effect of obsolete tactics, straight from 1870's, while weapons, were already adapted to 1910's, which made passchendaele that more horrific. i mean: generals started to reform their tactics, after british and french governments, faced backlash for basically, worthless sacrifices.

  66. M.... G....

I hear iron maiden fear of the dark a little bit in the beginning part

  67. S.... ....

The lyric video itself is brilliant. The grey colour scheme as opposed to red, and the quotes are brilliant.

  68. E.... F....

    Crazy sad

  69. v.... ....

I know this song isn't about this topic, but it made me come to terms with my suicide. Wonderfull world, but I don't fit, thank you for everything Sabaton, just let me go in peace :)

  70. .... ....

Every time when I hear this song, I'm crying..

  71. F.... E....

The new and young fan of Sabaton

  72. k.... t....

I want to thank all the soldiers who fight for our freedom, but I also dedicate this song to my beloved four legged friend that was at my side.

  73. .... ....

Every time when I hear this song.. I wanna cry so bad..

  74. H.... ....

    Alright, alright
    Now where's that onion, huh?

  75. J.... N....

Hammer has fallen & Hearts of Iron are the 2 saddest songs Sabaton has made to date.

  76. p.... 3....

Here is the argument that this is about Joseph Stalin:

"No one close to hear my voice, did not leave me with a choice": Stalin's staff ignored his death, beliving they would be killed for interupting him.
"Will You let me go in peace, Leave behind those dark days": In his last dying moments, stalin repents for everything he has done and begs for the almighty's forgiveness.

"Hear the wispers calling out my name. The scentence is set, The Hammer has fallen, I have payed the price.": Stalin was a paranoid man who belived everyone was out to get him. As he dies, he truely belives the soviet union will collapse without him.

"ALL THIS PAIN WILL FOLLOW ME": Stalin's legacy as a genocidal Mass-murder who killed DOWNwards of 13 million people compared to Hitler's 6 million jews.

I'm probably grasping at straws, though.

    p.... 3....

interesting interpretation i just figured it was about depression

    p.... 3....

    @SouthernGhost 1865 It's actually about a man commiting suicide.

    p.... 3....

@player 3 productions they kinda go hand in hand in this situation

    p.... 3....

player 3 productions thought the song was about a soldiers last moments from being shot in a war?

  77. D.... W....

That's the place, where the war ends.

  78. D.... W....

  86. T.... ....

  87. w.... p....

This is reminiscent of "One" by Metallica. Both are about a dying man begging for death. Both begin quiet, then build up to a tense chorus and interlude.

  92. C.... B....

I love sabaton, I have listened to them for years, but every time I think it is a good idea to go into the comments section I cringe at what people say.

  93. S.... G....

    Beautyfull song <3

  94. T.... E....

for some reason, i imagine a soldier wandering through the battlefield he fought on all alone, the last survivor of the battle. As he's walking he sees an enemy soldier walking the same way he is, limping and breathing heavily, walking his way. The enemy soldier raises his weapon, but drops it, because he's almost too weak to even carry his own body weight. As the soldiers walk towards each other, the soldier almost falls, but the enemy soldier grabs him and they lift each other up, and walk together, not going anywhere, just trying to help each other. I dunno why i imagine that, but the song seems to fit that kind of scenario in my opinion.

    T.... E....

You mean the Battlefield 1 video with the Harlem hellfighter and the German soldier

  95. A.... ....

    Don’t give Thor this song

  96. B.... H....

Does anybody think this fits Robert Baratheon?

  97. J.... T....

People who say that Sabaton glorifies violence need to hear this song.

  98. c.... ....

"is about the last thoughts of a dying man." While not false, it really what it is about. On the official page (https://www.sabaton.net/discography/hammer-fallen-lyrics/) it says "A young man who is about to commit suicide.", it is about the last thoughts of someone who is about to commit suicide.

  99. o.... v....

I respect all the soilders out there and i say it with love

    o.... v....

    Thanks, over vase thanks alot..

  100. T.... ....

    I'm not crying, you're crying.
