Ryan Adams - Let It Ride Lyrics
Moving like the fog on the Cumberland River
I was leaving on the Delta Queen
And I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
27 years of nothing but failures and promises that I couldn't keep
I'm never ready to go
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of the darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger's angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go
Loaded like a sailor
Tumbling off a ferry boat
I was at the bar till three
Oh Lord, and I wasn't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Tennessee's a brother to my sister Carolina where they're gonna bury me
And I ain't ready to go
I'm never ready to go
Let it ride let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger's angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go
I wanna see you tonight
Dancing in the endless moonlight
In the parking lot in the headlights of cars
Someplace on the moon
Where they moved the drive-in theater
Where I left the car that I can't find but I still got the keys to
Let it ride
Let it ride easy down the road
Let it ride
Let it take away all of this darkness
Let it ride
Let it rock me in the arms of stranger's angels until it brings me home
Let it ride
Let it roll
Let it go

Ryan Adams Let It Ride Comments
Listen to The Wooks’ version. Classic!
I drove across country listening to this song, taught myself the lyrics and sand it through every fucking state till I got back to my home state and my stupid ex wife and all her bullshit and don’t ask why and I’m still singing this song, so thank you Ryan Allen. Let it ride, witch.
Tennessee’s a brother to my sister Carolina where they gone bury me...legend
Favorita
RIP Neal Casal. You and Ryan made some great music.
It was 2011 when i listened to this and i forgot about it now all this time has passed and life is all weird and sad and i feel old
When I visited Nashville, I hummed this song every time I crossed the Cumberland River.
Goddammit this is what country should be 2day not twangy pop songs about big trucks and your best gal
Lucky you

Such a fucking gem of a song <3
Picked this version instead of a stage performance cause i can't stand to look at him right now.
Lmfao this guy did nothing wrong. Glad I found his music just now because the media wants to crucify white males at the drop of a hat!
Austin Trousdale Ha! You better not look at David Bowie or Robert Plant or Jimmy Page or Mick Jagger or Keith Richards. They all fucked 14-15-year-Old groupies. The groupies wrote books about it, which you can easily find. Mick Jagger even wrote a song about it. You know the song “Superstar” by The Carpenters? That song was written about Eric Clapton’s young groupies. It was written by a woman who toured with Clapton. She witnessed all the groupies fawning & interacting with Clapton and wrote that song from the point of view of a young groupie.
Perfection
I agree.
Cindy fucking Cashdollar on slide guitar ladies and gentlemen
Cindy cashdollar's slide guitar lines!!!
I've never, ever heard steel used in this way. So haunting.
This song was inspired by a wild night Ryan & I spent together, drinking and carousing and getting kicked off the riverboat and... ok I just made that tup. Nonetheless, an awesome time. I really like his more Country influenced stuff.
a little secret note to you, alan: this makes me think of you and it makes me want to go on an adventure together.
Alan died 7 years ago..... :'(
This is the shit, not like that black rap crap that makes my ears bleed
Everyone go listen to Youngstown by Bruce Springsteen this song might be ripping it off
i love both songs. they are their own.
Always great to hear him live!
ah lurd.. let it ride strangers angels. Let it roll
I think this is the best song since Mr. Bojangles. Really speaks to my soul. Thank you Ryan Adams.
I have Let it Ride tattooed on my forearm. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written and that's why I love Ryan.
Does he have more musics like this? The lyrics and performance were fantastic!
Cold Roses album is excellent and I enjoy the whole catalog, a few duds (like 29) aside. Everyone will tell you to check out the album Heartbreaker. I really enjoy Easy Tiger, Cardinology, Demolition, Ashes & Fire, Jacksonville City Nights and the self titled. Gold has some great songs, too
Thank you very much! I will take a look on these suggestions!
perfection.
Ryan Adams is one of the few and the proud musicians that represent a long lost art... SONGWRITING! Not a whole lot of great song writers and icons these days to look up to. Heartbreaker still takes me right back to where I first heard it years ago
With that said. Driving down the parkway here in Western North Carolina with this blasting out with the windows with two happy dogs is the meaning of happiness.
RA IS FUCKING AWESOME....LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM HE CAN TEAR MY HEART OUT......
hes a story teller.
Lucky you...:)
My god,....what a song!!!
Once, my history teacher played this song on low while we were taking a test. ayy shoutout to Buers ✌
Buddy Buers!!! ✌
And people say music isn't good anymore...
If you haven't already, go see Ryan Adams live. Incredible. He always closes with "Come Pick Me Up". perfect ending
Why is it that his live performances of his songs are just plain and simple better than the album.....very strange.....but I love it!
This is one of the coolest songs I have ever heard.
This is a pearl of a song.
When Ryan Adams hits it just right, nobody does it better, as this song proves.
+Christopher C. Ryan's amazing because he can write "hit" songs without selling out. This shit is just pure magic.
HES FUCKING AWESOME....NO ONE BETTER......
C. C. Its so beautiful my fav Ryan album
If Bob Weir and Phil Lesh cover your song you have made it...I found out about Ryan Adams at a Furthur show...they played Let It Ride and I was hooked from then on
+Ryan Bulmann fucking A! if Phil and Bob feel like squeezing in a cover in their set then it'd better be a fucking gem of a song and this absolutely is.

Check out The Wooks' cover of this tune......simply stunning
Thats one reason i love the dead so much they aint afraid 2 play anything good music is good music ⚡💀🐢🐻
Terrific song lingers in your mind, clever songwriting with a good hook! Well done, loved it in the movie ( Lucky You ).
this version so tame compared to what he did on letterman. Is he usually better live?
yes yes and yes

Freakin genius.
dam... story of my life...
Jude Santillan- my thoughts exactly
Good Lucky Huckleberry!! =D
this is just PURE songwriting... some people have compared this song to the best of neil young, and i don't find that comparison at all unfair. ryan adams really showed up on this track, giving us the very best of outlaw americana...
Im sure Adams likes hearing that. He is like NY in the way his songs can be played acoustically or full blown electric. But Adams is his own man. He is different than young in that Adams tunes are perfectly played in the studio. The musicians seem to be under more control and the songs played in their most basic style. He knows exactly what he is doing or what sound he wants and gets. Hell his last album was very bruce Springsteen ish. He had to of known that.
love this

Best songwriter of my generation.
ONE OF THE BEST...IN ANY GENERATION....PERIOD.
You’re probably right there, Son
I agree if the caveat of best "famous" songwriter of his generation is added in. He is probably my personal favorite songwriter, famous or otherwise, of our odd little."gap" generation (too old to be millenials, too young to be Xers...born mid 70s to early mid 80s) and I am a huge fan. I cover his work frequently. I actively go out and try to convert people into fans. Besides him and Ray Lamontagne what other man could even attempt to place his claim on that throne...GOAT Songwriter of GEN Y OR theGAP GEN "LAST GENERATION of the 20th century".....
Who is famous? In our age group? I can't think of anyone....
🕯🔮FATHER.JOHN MISTY???🔮🕯
Get the fuck outta here with that 🕯 bullshit come talk to me when you have some legit 💡"s. Get your 💡🔛! I dont have time to fuck with your candlesassbullshit.
He is good. I can't deny I like some of his shit a lot. But I'm not sure I needed to get more context about the fact he calls himself Father John Misty to be firmly set on the position that it is an embarrassingly silly name for a man who lacks the fame to get away with such a silly fucking name. But Donald Trump is President. Theres no standards anymore, at all.
Was he even born between roughly 74 and 84??? I don't even know. I have a strict rule about not researching claims in the comments.sectiom so I am just assuming he is here I have no fucking idea.
No bullshit, all kidding aside, I think my catalouge is better than all of theirs, but Ryan is without question the closest one in my (clearly not humble but seriously I'm not claiming to be Jim Morrison Sexy or anything not true... I'm just stating the facts honestly and respectfully without totaly being a fakeassclown just writing exactly what he thinks will get him followers or views or whatever WON'T SOUND RUDE...personally I think LIES AND BEING FAKE IS RUDE. LIES are rude.. I actually have zero interest in having the kind of success and mainstream acceptability that seems to be the de reguer entrance pass to being POPULAR and famous. Avoiding this is really really easy. BEEN A complete BREEZE FOR 38 YEARS... REALLY.... it took...ALMOST NO EFFORT TO SABOTAGE MYSELF... It was like I just got lucky... The mainstream left behind artists like me or any band I have been in and modern rock of any nature from heavy to funk to soul is gonna represent just a small insignificant niche of the music audience. This has made failing exceedingly.easy.
Easy...
He’s good but definitely not the best.
Windows down tearing down a two lane country highway listening to this. Don't get any better.
I'm thankful for the existence of Youtube
First world problems.
I just heard this in lucky you
your mommy must be proud
if you don't like it why are you WATCHING IT??????
If you dislike Ryan Adams chances are I will not care much for you as a person..
now what?
great music... Period
I remember when Cold Roses came out and I couldn't stop listening to it every single day, every song back to back!
What a Stupid song...
"Let it rock me in the arms of strangers angels until it brings me home." I LOVE that line.
The man is possibly one of the best songwriters I ever heard. NO ONE should dislike this
Honestly who the fuck dislikes this? I don't want to know you.
awesome, simply awesome..
Sound advice . . .
something about this guy. I just love this....he's very evocative.
work of art. What country/folk should be sounding like nowadays.
Thx. Gave it a like rating.
