wow i love this song, i just came back to this album and forgot how much this song hit me emotionally! one of my favourites for sure

For having read the book before knowing that this existed, made me happy that I could experience it in rl and not just my imagination.

I remember when Rush played "Force 10" at the old miami arena months after Hurricane Andrew.

When they put a Hurricane doppler on their performance screen, their was suddenly 18,000 people in totally PTSD (200 mph Hurricane Andrew months earlier)

Rush sensed the crowd change and became extra soulful.

By the last chorus we were all yelling "Tough Times! Demand"

What a moment..

Love this song! Went with my son to see Geddy's bass guitar exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. So glad my son renewed my faith in Rush who I have always loved and was blessed to see in concert at age 16.

I worked at the largest radio station in L.A. back in the late 80s. I think it was around the Grace under pressure album. I worked with a girl who heard the first single and said,"Yet another Rush. Song." I have never come so close to smacking a woman. HERETIC!!!!!!

I watched the video many times and was lucky to seem them live 2010 and back on Roll the Bones in early 90's

The lyrics IN THE TEETH OF AN ICY GRAVE so on the video there's no iceberg here? You see the top of old and future ships so why Icy and what does this mean I then by chance on the same evening watched podcast by Joe Rogan with Randal Carlson and Graham Hancock.

Wow this is GOT to be watched stuff! This explains SO MANY questions we all asked ourselves when we were young. If you really want something to think over watch it all and share it!!

The Wreckers video really symbolizes the meaning of the story and changes mood in synchronicity so well it is apparent to me to compare Wreckers with the big picture of humanity going through ups and downs in civilization. Look at the stories from hundreds of flood tales of old and of our race being saved alongside with what we need to start again. The shining beacon of the lighthouse and what was in the tides below made my eyes well with tears

Us all in the ship, going against the current, fighting away as we are being shown the way by the lighthouse. as a metaphor for true humanitarian values that have been contorted over time and as the lighthouse disappears it then with the music and lyrics become dark and mysterious, is there anybody in there, and then it does it again and reappears lit but gets shrouded the second time by clouds obscuring a part of the sun-like beacon. Up and down like civilisation on land but the seas have risen and fallen.
So is it the lighthouse going down no its civilisation being swallowed by the great delugian world flood and you can liken the ark of many stories to this boat or ship as well.
Also the ship has a past wreck in the background looking pretty galleon like in the far away cliffs. European conquerors of old South America when the natives who worshiped the golden ones did have their gold taken and religion taken away from them.
Not that that was a unique event by the way in history I believe a lot of North American artifacts where there with them that had been saved from the white mans invasion earlier way far north.

Back to the video!? The ship continues with a few war-time dark reminders with mines and subs or are they just watching from their safe little protective secret spy viewpoint and then the genius of the artist brings higher tech ship wrecks from the past highlighting the big picture in its entirety!

EXCELLENT that you got this far thank you if you did. PLEASE IF YOURE A RUSH FAN YOURE MIND IS BIG ENOUGH FOR THIS TRUTH OF WHAT HAPPENED TO US ALL this needs to be seen

and then ancient Sumerian Creation on youtube and see that all of our worlds oldest tales are from a real event only some 9-10 thousand years ago that we survived a world disaster. All the big books basically say the same in 500 plus languages!!!!!

I have watched this so many times ...the line " all I know is that memory can be too much to carry" is so haunting to me knowing what the author went through. Honestly if this was the last Rush album then they ended on such a great note IMO.

As much as I've love Rush to continue making music, it just feels so right to go out on such a high note album that's up there fanwise with hemispheres & permanent waves. Especially for a band 40 years into their career? This album was incredible, just wish the mix was a little better like on snakes & arrows

There is a special bond between all rush fans. You meet one randomly somewhere and its like youve known him all your life

I saw Time Stand Still at a nice theater (w/recliners... nice) with about 100 other Rush fans, & it was way different than being next to another "Rush Stranger" at a concert. Interesting to note: At a Rush "concert"... Nobody yells "SHHHHH!!!" in your face, when you whistle, hoot & holler: "THIS IS AWESOME!!!" towards the person sitting next to you. That's all I'm sayin'

Upon further review, you are probably right. My book is a doc while yours is a novel.

One of my favorites from Clockwork Angels.  The bridge reminds me of Roll the Bones.  I only wish the song would have been a little longer because Alex seems to be starting a nice guitar stretch right when the song fades out.  If this is indeed their last album, the really closed out their career strong.

God I hope this isn't the end of them! I been listening since 75,. There is no other group I give a damn about. Hoping there is a tour or at least a limited tour in 2016. Haven't been able to get out and see them since about 90. But they are probably starting to get tired, I understand that, after 40 years of auditory heaven to my ears. God bless Rush.

I remember seeing this animation play at the Clockwork Angels tour here in Ohio. Fukkin' amazing.

I still have the tickets here for the show in Cleveland, Oct 28, 2012. Last minute events made it impossible to get there on time. Driving there from Columbus, by the time things got straightened up, and considering the heavy rain, and 71 construction that day between Columbus and Cleveland, it was just impossible. That show had 2 empty seats in the stage left area, mid way up in the arena. Ratts. Heck, that may have been my last chance. Thanks for being a jerk Shenna D and causing me to miss my favorite band!!

This and The Garden always brings tears to my eyes. Rush has and will leave a humongous mark on the face of music. It will be a dark day for the world when they pass on.

Got into them at age 15.  I'm now 53.  Talk about fucking STAYING POWER!

Saw this song live. If you read their book it makes this song so much more emotionally meaningful. Doing both was fantastic, seeing Neil's story put into words as well as a short little video. I HIGHLY recommend Clockwork Angels by Kevin J. Anderson to anyone who loves this album!

I love this band, not just for their music but because of my dad. He showed me them when I was a kid and though I was a bit arrogant at first I started to like it, and my dad kept showing me more of their music. He even took me to the Snakes and Arrows tour in Salt Lake City when I was just 12, and every concert they had in Utah since. We always love living to Rush and I always will, not just for the music but because it reminds me of all of the good times I had with my dad.

exactly the same. My dad took me to my first Rush Concert at the same Salt Lake Snakes and Arrows tour. he took me to my first rush concert and i was able to take him to his last with there R40 tour

Thanks for sharing me that. My dad and I bonded over rush. He was a drummer and now I am too. I learned drums playing along with rush songs until I got them right. He passed away in 2006. I get a sense of nostalgia every time I listen to rush
