Rush - The Big Wheel Lyrics
Well, I was only a kid - didn't know enough to be afraid
Playing the game, but not the way the big boys played
Nothing to lose - maybe I had something to trade
The way the big wheel spins
Well, I was only a kid, on a holy crusade
Take no chances on paradise delayed
So I do a slow fade
Playing for time
Don't want to wait for heaven
Looking for love
For an angel to forgive my sins
Playing with fire
Chasing something new to believe in
Looking for love
The way the big wheel spins
Prisoner of fate, victim of circumstance
I was lined up for glory, but the tickets sold out in advance
The way the big wheel spins
Well, I was only a kid, gone without a backward glance
Going for broke, going for another chance
Hoping for heaven - hoping for a fine romance
If I do the right dance
Wheel goes round, landing on a twist of faith
Taking your chances you'll have the right answers
When the final judgment begins
Wheel goes round, landing on a leap of fate
Life redirected in ways unexpected
Sometimes the odd number wins
The way the big wheel spins

Rush The Big Wheel Comments
I love Geddy's voice on this one. He is such a master of melody. His voice is a melody machine!
Three days ago Neil died, and the world just couldn't believe as It was announced today.
This one in special Is my all time favorite, the lyrics always touched me.
R.I.P. Neil Peart - Brazil, 10/01/2020
Tracks 1- through 10 were poentially #1 hits RUSH was on top of its game and so many criticized now in 2020 we want them back! It is Astonishing! We should treated them like the legends they were when in the 90's
You gotta be jokineing right
4:48 that guitar part Alex plays is the best part of the song
I remember running to two different Strawberries locations to get this CD the day after release. The one by my house was sold out (the cassette was there but I wanted CD) so I had the store call its sister location on the other side of Brockton and they had two left so I told them to hold it and they did. My mom (may she RIP) said I was the Road Runner when I ran in the record store to get this CD which I bought this and since I had extra cash, also bought David Gilmour's About Face on CD (an upgrade from my cassette which had deteriorated by then) that same trip. This was the first Rush studio album I bought the week of release and ready for as a fan at age 15. This reminds me of Sophomore Year of High School and in my guitar class I played with Rush fans as I was a drummer and occasionally played guitar or bass but played more like David Gilmour and John Deacon respectively instead of Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee. I could play drums like Neil but with Keith Moon's hyperactivity.
For an angel to forgive my sins beautiful mellody
Alex is a killer rhythm player!
Fun tune to listen to.
Song is o.k,.......it's just too saturated with sequencers.
I was only a kid
didn't know
enough
to be afraid
playing the game
but not the way
the big boys
played
nothing to lose
maybe I had
something
to trade
the way the big wheel spins
I was only a kid
on a holy crusade
I placed no trust in a faith
that was ready-made
take no
chances
on paradise
delayed
so I do a slow fade
playing for time
don't want to wait for heaven
looking for love
for an angel to forgive my sins
playing with fire
chasing something new
to believe in
looking for love
the way the big wheel spins
I was only a kid
cruising around in a trance
prisoner of fate
victim of circumstance
I was lined up
for glory
but the tickets
sold out in advance
the way the big wheel spins
I was only a kid
gone without
a backward
glance
going for broke
for another chance
hoping for heaven
for a fine romance
if I do the right dance
wheel goes round
landing
on a twist
of faith
taking your chances
you'll have
the right answers
when the final judgment begins
wheel goes round
landing
on a leap
of fate
life redirected
in ways unexpected
sometimes
the odd number wins
RUSH the best forever!!!
This record never went to #1 because of the Black Album. #3 i think was highest position
Man I remember being about 11 years old listening to this while I cleaned a ford dealership with my dad, Sunday mornings.. Shit spoke to me.
What a perfect song.................
Fucking idiots downed this....
Bieber wieners
Missing Rush already !
Missing Rush almost every other day
I personally think this is one of their best albums!
Highly underrated song.
Last realy good album! Sorry to say. Losing interest in the band later on. This was a awesome album, seeing the band on the 92 tour in london! Primus open for rush..
That was a great show!! Saw them in Texas.
The last album by them I got into was Test for Echo. I bought Vapor Trsils and was very disappointed
@Brenden DeSimone They certainly shifted gears with Vapor Trails, but RUSH has always been that way with their music. What makes them great!
Counterparts and Clockwork Angels are great
My farvorite part. FOR AN ANGEL TO FORGIVE MY SINS
Inmarcesible!
Needs some more time changes...😆

I was lined up for glory but the tickets sold out in advance....wwow. Neil at a lyrical peak, I love it! Plus the bridge of this song is pure brilliance! I love you Rush!
In 73 it was a flat top, plaid pants, and The Partridge Family. In 74 it was long hair, army field jacket and Rush.....then it was the mid 80s.
Damn good song!
Possibly their best album!!!! Moving Pictures, Signals, 2112, Permanent Waves.......etc.
To be honest, Roll the Bones is the album where Geddy's singing is best. Just my opinion.
The InfinitySkull yes the melody and octaves do complement his voice very well on this album. Vice versa
his singing definitely peaked in the 90's
Brilliant, profound
The catalog of this band is remarkable
got to see them roll the bones tour. best time of my life!!!!
This song could have been on "Power Windows!"
This is kind of what I was thinking earlier today. In many ways, it sounds like a Power Windows reject song. It's that cool.
The hidden gem of this album.
seems to be a running theme... the hidden gem of Grace Under Pressure is Between the Wheels
seems to be a running theme... the hidden gem of Hold your Fire is Second Nature
@turnleftaticeland mannn I broke the replay button on Between The Wheels to the point my sister was raging at me at the first second of the song whenever I put it to play
Saw what may be their last concert last Thursday here in St. Louis, what a great show - they played Roll the Bones from this one, but I love this song and Dreamline as well. Very cool, they did 3 off Clockwork Angels, and then walked it back all the way to working man - only problem as you can guess, is sooooo many great songs to pick from! I will miss them terribly, but I hope they do put out some new music - they are too good not too..
