Clockwork Angels is absolutely the best album since Counterparts.

You know, I poo pooed this album when it first came out. Perhaps I need to rethink that decision. And I have a Brazilian duo called Fleesh who covered The Garden to thank for it.

One of Geddy's greatest bass lines! Rush... This just blows me away. So fucking awesome....the structure is brilliant. Not to mention the performances. Masters of the music universe.

You know how each new album required a few times around the turntable before you "got it" and that became your new favorite? That JUST happened with Clockwork Angels. I haven't been able to listen to music on a regular basis for a while, but I really disliked this when it came out and put it away and thought I'd never get it. Surprise, surprise! Listen carefully around 0:28 and you hear a voice whisper "What do you lack?", a question called out by a merchant hawking his wares, as alluded to in the liner notes, which the Anarchist answers a few verses in.

There is that whisper in the final seconds of Clockwork Angels also.

Compared to what?.. This is as good as anything else they ever wrote. They couldn't have done this in the seventies or eighties.

Is it me or have Alex's solos kept getting shorter and shorter?

Rush is cyclical; he barely did solos at all in the mid 80s, with Power Windows and Hold Your Fire. But it didn't matter; Alex taking a backseat on the albums allowed the rhythm section to thrive, which has always been the driving force of Rush, IMHO.

Man, I love that bass line during the chorus. Hopefully they bring it to the front of the mix on the R40 DVD, as you can't really hear it in the fan-filmed videos on YouTube.

on may 14th I was in st. louis for rush this was the first song that played. In the set behind them they moved the speakers and they went back in time until the trons behind them showed a high school gym. It was one of the best nights of my life as a fan of music.

+mychel davis I've been lucky. After an almost 20 year hiatus, I got to see TM 2x (one was CLE), CA 2x, & R40 2x.

I was at the R40 show in Buffalo. Hands down the best stage show I've ever seen for a band.

Best Progressive rock-band ever... the chanced me from listening to bee gees when I was 16 and opened up a whole new world....three guys, three friends, inspirational to me.. and now i may be going to their farewell concert this year.. i only hope they put out some more music or their will be a physically felt hole in my life...Every once in awhile you have a band you just know was made for you buy God....

Absolutely love this song. One of my favorite Rush songs, actually. The way Neil Peart plays the chorus on his toms like that makes the song very catchy.

Clockwork Angels is their best album in years (and the other ones were good).  A couple of those symbols (the ones at 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock) look like ones from the Mage: the Ascension RPG.

They are astrological/alchemical symbols. Mage: the Ascension used real esoteric symbology, those guys did their homework real good.

I am 17, and I have my dad to thank for, for introducing me to this band. As soon as I could appreciate music, I took instant note of how awesome I felt listening to Rush. My first concert was in 2004 in Manchester on their R30 tour, I saw them twice on their Snakes and Arrows tour Newcastle and Manchester, next was Time Machine whereupon I saw them in Newcastle and Glasgow and then for Clockwork Angels I saw them in Glasgow (as they didn't tour Newcastle). I utterly love this band and this is one of my favourite tracks of Clockwork Angels.

You're so lucky. I became a fan of them in late 2015 and they quickly became my favorite band of all time but unfortunately I was too late to get to see them live. I will always regret it.

I'm 13 and I've been a fan for a long while actually. I was introduced to them when I was 2 I think and then I forgot about them years later. I rediscovered them about a year ago. I'm so sad I never saw them on tour :(

Seen them in 76 and thought they were great. Saw them again in 2003, on the Vapor Trails Tour. They were a zillion times better than 76. One of the few R&R bands around that just keeps improving thru time. RUSH FOREVER!!!!

i am probably even a bigger rush fan than you, i have been listening to the band for thirty five years and have not missed a tour in atlanta since signals in 1982-3, mypoint is there will always be the bigger fish and those who like them with varying degrees, i love the miuntemen, yes, hendrix, dead etc... but in varying degrees, but for you to insullt them or attack them for it totally uncalled for, and Rush would tell you you are unprofessional, dont become a menace!

then you are only a medium rush fan and not a die hard! i love their passion for their instruments and musically they have no fillers, they are by far the hardest working rock group in business!

This album rocks, i have been listening to it for the last week getting used to the instruments, but gotta tell you it has flashes of 2112 in some of their jams, especially caravan when they start jamming and the guitar solo part, but this song is by far one of the best on this! i feel like they are back in their 20s again! Rush Rules! now lets get YES into RRHOF as well, they are long over due as well "Mr Christopher Squire...."

NEW WORLD MAN was actually technically filler material because some fans in the past were complaining about being shortchanged by near EPs or shorter than average LPs. Well, you hear how RUSH rose to the occasion with this last minute edition. Ironically, it became the first release. Expect RUSH to be the ones who can pull off a Sweet Miracle like that.

I love Rush so very much...but I can't deny that they have put out a LOT of filler material. I tend to stick to 20 or 25 songs of theirs and listen to them over and over. But hey, 25 truly great songs is about 20 more than most bands ever manage to write.

In my opinion, Cygnus X-I (Book 1 and 2), Subdivisions and Freewill are their best songs, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a bad song.
