Rush - Scars Lyrics
I've stood upon my mountaintop
And shouted at the sky
Walked above the pavement
With my sense amplified
I get this feeling...
All my nerves are naked wires
Tender to the touch
Sometimes super sensitive
But who can care too much?
I get this feeling...
Scars of pleasure
Scars of pain
Atmospheric changes
Make them sensitive again
Each emotional injury
Leaves behind its mark
Sometimes they come tumbling out
Like shadows in the dark
I get this feeling...
When I think about all I have seen
And all I'll never see
When I think about the people
Who have opened up to me
I get this feeling...
Snow falls deep around my house
And holds the winter light
I've heard the lions hunting
In the Serengeti night
I get this feeling...
Forests turned to factories
And river, sea, and sky
Hungry child in the desert
And the flies that cloud her eyes
I get this feeling...
Pleasure leaves a fingerprint
As surely as mortal pain
In memories they resonate
And echo back again...
Scars of pleasure
Scars of pain
Atmospheric changes
Make them sensitive again

Rush Scars Comments

My opinion this is Geddys best vocals great album , RIP Mr.Peart .
This was the first Rush album that I bought back in 89 when I was introduced to them. I fell in love with the band because of Neil. I will truly miss him and that I will never see them in concert one last time
Can't yet adjust to the Neillessness 💔
Such an underrated song from an underrated album.
RIP Mr. Neil “The Professor” Peart.
Neil just died
I’m here to pray

Praying with you brother. Amen so sad that his first daughter was take away too soon and now he was taken away too soon from his little girl.
Rest in peace to a fucking icon, brother...

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood II brought me here
questa è di un Livello siderale.
Were they trying to be Duran Duran here? Crap.
Give one more listen and focus on Alex's guitar tracking in the background. That will help. ;-)
LOL the short answer is NO!
F that i love duran duran also. One thing rush taught me was not to be close minded. Yet im a hardass!
@Mike Grant not close minded just never enjoyed the musical stylings of Duran Duran Although Warren's guitar work is pretty tasty
I never liked Rush, but this song kinda stuck to me as a kid. Not because I liked it, but because they tried to move to other directions which I give them credit.
It’s almost 2020 and this song has never sound better to me
baby Jesus, correction, this IS 2020
Orcmaster 99 it is now lol I wrote this in prob late November . 🍻
I could play the drum part with one arm behind my back.😀😅

great bass riff.... but it would have been a better aong if it were slower. and that 'tinny' mix in the production.... ouch!
This needs a remaster to fix the lackluster production.
Crash bandicoot
Somehow reminds me of Territories. Albeit without the savage bass chorus work.
Neil’s drums are to die for. This one nails it.
I’ve always liked this song. It’s probably the strongest on the album.
Love the bass line
Niel Peart .
Neil doesn't like it when people mispronounce his last name. I can only imagine how irked he'd be to know that people actually misspell his first name. LOL!
Geddy sings in public what Neil is inspired to write in private. These guys may profess to be irreligious, but they surely have sprinkled a path of unleavened bread crumbs through the lion's share of their ouevre for fellow thoughtful truth-seekers to follow.

"Scars" (1989)

Matthew 6:5-6
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
"But when YOU pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Superconductor and this are the best on the album
Superconductor and Scars? Scars is among the worst tracks Rush ever recorded and Superconductor is the very definition of mediocre. Show Don't Tell, The Pass, and Available Light are the standouts on this otherwise bland effort with War Paint also being a good track. This may seem scathing but it's an honest review of Presto. Rush is my all time favorite band.
@Save The Republic The worst Rush album is Hold Your Fire. The height of keyboard nonsense.
@ViciousAlienKlown I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you on that. I never said Presto was the worst album. I was referring to the title track. Now I must add that Presto was among my very least favorite Rush albums. I would say that the albums "Hold your Fire", "Presto" and "Roll the Bones" comprised the worst stretch of Rush albums in the band's history. There are some good and even very good tracks scattered throughout but each record as a whole was inconsistent and uncharacteristically unfocused. In my humble opinion I think this had a lot to do with Geddy Lee's obsession with trying to be Beatlesque in terms of songwriting but what the heck do I know anyway lol.
I thought that "Counterparts" was a return to form for the band with "Test for Echo" continuing in that direction. What I find interesting is that if you go to the album that preceded that trio of bland records I mentioned that started with "Hold your Fire" you get "Power Windows" that in my opinion is Rush's defining album in terms of the keyboard friendly progressive pop hard rock sound that screamed the 80's. I'm not saying Power Windows is Rush's best album but I think it is their most consistently strong and galvanizing work of the post Signals 80's period. I think Rush hit the nail on the head within the context of that particular sound. There isn't a single weak track on the record and makes for a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying listen given the proper mood of course. In retrospect it seems as though the band wasn't exactly sure where they wanted to go after Power Windows which led to a 3 album stretch of mostly bland uninspired work.
@Save The Republic Counterparts was a great album along with Test for Echo. Every Rush album has something for the fans but their mid 80s output was a little synth heavy.
@Save The Republic See the one Rush album I could never get into was Vapor Trails but can't hate on it because that was the first album after Neil's tragedies a few years back
This would be good for a remix
