Rush - Losing It Lyrics
The dancer slows her frantic pace
In pain and desperation
Her aching limbs and downcast face
Aglow with perspiration
With just the briefest pause
The flooding through her memory
The echoes of old applause
She limps across the floor
And closes her bedroom door...
The writer stare with glassy eyes
Defies the empty page
His beard is white, his face is lined
And streaked with tears of rage
Thirty years ago, how the words would flow
With passion and precision
But now his mind is dark and dulled
By sickness and indecision
And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more...
Some are born to move the world
To live their fantasies
But most of us just dream about
The things we'd like to be
Sadder still to watch it die
Than never to have known it
For you, the blind who once could see
The bell tolls for thee...

Rush Losing It Comments
Has to be one of Rush's most underrated songs.. BEAUTIFUL. GORGEOUS.
A great song, never heard much. Nothing new though, a lot of Rush songs are not played enough. A truly talented great rock band.
Amazing and poignant x
I wonder if anybody cries when they hear this song?
1/19/20 - Here in honor of my hero, Neil Peart. Be at peace, friend.
Well never forget you Neil, this hurts like I cant explain. Soundtrack to so many lives.
Gone but will never be forgotten
Farewell to a King.
RIP Neil. Jesus. I didn't even know he wrote most of their songs. He was like the McCartney of the group
Some of my favourite of Neil's lyrics are in this song. Farewell to the master!!
I will always love Rush, I can't believe Neil is gone...this definitely means there's no reunion
“I don’t regret that the ride has to be over, but rather feel grateful for the miles I have traveled, for the sights along the way, and to be exactly where I am.”
Neil Peart from Far and Wide
Terribly sad. Enjoy Lakeside Park, Sir Peart.
He was the greatest living (progressive rock) drummer after the death of the greatest (rock) drummer, John Bonham, in 1980.
Two different styles of drumming, but equally impressive and iconic. Both of these guys should be in anyones top 5.
Its time to listen to Rush all weekend starting with the underrated Caress of Steel.
Thank You Neil, you are an inspiration
First song I thought of when I heard he died so premature of- all things- brain cancer...my god how I loved Rush when they were the only thing that had ever spoken to me...
The great ones leave but the music stays with us
Was listening to this just 2 days ago only to find out today Mr Neil Peart had passed away 2 days ago. A Sad loss.
RIP Neil.
One of my biggest heroes gone. Thank you, Neil, for your passion, your inspiration, your words, and your innovation. Thank you, Neil, for everything.

Thank you Neil. Rest now.
Thanks for the Rush. Rest In Peace Neil Peart. No other words are necessary - 1/11/2020.
Last time I saw this video I was a Sophomore. I'm 26 and he's gone. Like someone I knew.
We'll miss you Neil , rest on my brother.
R.I.P Neil Peart. Nobody wrote lyrics like you did.
All of Canada.... is mourning tonight.
YYZ really is your national anthem, and I mean the best one on the planet...
All of US too.
Rest in Peace, Neil.
We lost a great man, Neil Peart
Now we all know why it was added to the last concert tour in 2015. RIP Neil.
He was so young when he realized he would someday not be able to create so fruitfully...in hope, it makes me think he lived every brilliant day of his life even more...
RIP, Neil. Thanks for the music. You went out on top, and no one could say you "lost it".
Poignant Lyrics Rest in Peace Neil Peart.
Sadder still to watch it die than never to have known it.
``And he stares out the kitchen door
Where the sun will rise no more``
Aleksandar Ranđić ...that lyric hits hard right now. We miss you Neil ✌️
RIP Neil. Going to miss you my friend
:-(
Neil 'The Professor' Peart - Thank you for the music and for your inspirational lyrics. R.I.P.
INFELIZMENTE NEIL PEART NOS DEIXO. ..ALÉM DE UM MARAVILHOSO BATERISTA TBM FOI UM PUTA DE UM LETRISTA. ..DESCANSE EM PAZ NEIL PEART!

RIP Neil :( you will be remembered through the annals of time after all of us are dust. We all miss you already.
Hurt a lot to hear this, didn't it? RIP to The Professor, indeed...
This song hits home even harder now. Rest In Peace, Neil. Thank you for everything. ❤️
Miguel Moreno for sure
Dude, for sure.
RIP Professor.
RIP Neil Peart
R.I.P. Neil Peart
Rest in Peace, Neil Peart. We lost him on January 7th to brain cancer.
Joe F He moved the music world. After this - Available Light ,
Joe F I’m sad
Bell tolls for thee ...
Once i learned that was a violinist; and not Alex, i was willing to bet the farm as to the violinist was.
Glad I didn't bet the farm.
Said violinist I thought it was; was Jon Lu Ponty", as I somewhat envisioned.
I’ve loved and never tired listening to this song. I bought signals when it came out and saw rush on the signals tour. Fantastic well written song.
fashionable comment: rick beato brought me here because of his top 20 drum fills video, 3.27 in absolutely top drawer!!!!
THE SLOW RUSH
I remember hearing this song on tape player whilst playing Donkey Kong on my Colecovision and thinking this song was ausimcoo in 1983. Now I'm 48 and still digging it, but I do miss my Colecovision. :)
but really what this song makes me think of is not art but work! my Dad has three forms of cancer and can no longer do the physical things he wants to. he used to aid me in repair of my roof and yes indeed he did this up until when he was 79 years old! He had a birthday in August and turned 80 now he has(since September 3) found out he has not one but 3 forms of cancer. I guess he can watch me do my own roof work but it won't be the same. :( this song brings involuntary tears I cannot stop.

Brilliant lyrics and the band in truly inspired musical flow. I bought Signals on the day of it's release at 10 am, I'd bought Moving Pictures shortly before as my first introduction to the band. 37 years later they're still one of my top 3 or 4 artists ever.
Brilliance
The music, the lyrics, so sad yet so moving....man...gives me chills everytime I hear it !!
It's 2019. Just drifting to the sounds of this lovely song today, as I did years ago. Not just Canadian alone but one of the world's greatest rock bands ever.
whens the next album?
I think the part about the writer could be applied to GRRM these days.
In 2019 ... it got better
Certainly a further departure from the bands roots. But,hey, it's Rush -
right? Alex and Terry (producer) were less than thrilled. A solid offering - nonetheless. Rushed #1
Peart is definitely a lot more than just an average drummer doing a backbeat. I play the violin solo on my guitar
19 people are set for lobotomy and brain exploration to find out what the hell is wrong with them.
Their best album cover. Hugh Syme at his finest.
Deep Tracks xm radio
Just a heartbreak tune
Still listening on 2019 ?
of course
RUSH, A GREAT BAND .SUPER BAND !!!!!!!
Wonderful to hear this 4 piece band
This is their most underated songs.
.......1982......... ONE UNFORGETTABLE YEAR........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder what the guys are doing today i hope they're happy thank you Rush
... and Still The Best as we Age... Rush Forever
Saw this performed live during the R40 tour. Absolutely fantastic and heartbreaking.
One of the best songs EVER
I haven't heard this song in at least a decade, and while I've always liked it, I don't think it's ever connected with me the way it does right now.
Since I have become an old man I can relate to this song so much more.
This is one of my all time favorite Rush songs.
So unique in sound and incredible lyricism from Neil.
15 years old listening to this in 2018!!!! Brilliant!!!! Just Brilliant!!!!
"You have chosen...Wisely."
I'm going to miss Neil's clever and poetic lyrics , this song is a great example of that, not to mention that he's the greatest Rock drummer of all time
So sad and mournful. Hearing this makes me feel like I should be wearing black and staring at a candle.
Blocked Full Albums of Rush now. Just Happened NOW!!!!
Bought this on cassette when it first came out I believe I was 20 at the time listened to it .it took awhile because it was a turning point in there music I was so used to the older music but it's a great album
The only good thing of them calling it quits is we won't watch it die when they hit their 70s/80s. Good for them.
My retirement brought me here .I am the same age as the band + or - 6 month .Now hope to last a while longer to do laser shows of my favorite music . Never enough time but I will go out doing what I love .
Watching Time Stand Still and R40 Rush on MUCH; had forgotten about this amazing song. So many wonderful Rush moments for me and my friends in all the years we have followed their careers.
One of the best Rush songs, a masterpiece
I called this to be the surprise song on the R40 tour,I have been a fan for over 30 years,I just felt in my heart it was time for them to play there best song..
Fucking best band ever
The 2017 Chicago Blackhawks.
2:50 on one of my favorite moments in any song! Epic!
Anyone who says Neil Peart writes bad lyrics can go fuck himself.
Has anyone ever actually said that?
