Rush - Halo Effect Lyrics
What did I see?
Fool that I was
A goddess, with wings on her heels
All my illusions
Projected on her
What did I know?
Fool that I was
Little by little, I learned
My friends were dismayed
To see me betrayed
But they knew they could never tell me
What did I care?
Fool that I was
Maybe sometimes
There might be a flaw
But how pretty the picture was back then
What did I do?
Fool that I was
To profit from youthful mistakes?
It's shameful to tell
How often I fell
In love with delusions again
What did I do?
Fool that I was
To profit from youthful mistakes?
So shameful to tell
Just how often I fell
In love with illusions again
A goddess with wings on her heels ...

Rush Halo Effect Comments
This one strikes between the eyes like the good time world. Walking on easy streets, hiding beneath the sheets got to try to fill the void.
oh Neil. you are just the best.
Jackie ,the girl left behind!
Yea that chorus is a little too Knight in broken armor. Next time I record this song I’ll make sure to change it 🤪
The first time you see her taking a shit---that's when you know the magic is over.
Been there done that not a fun place to be
To what the person just said below me yes I agree 100% meanwhile this is another song I can listen to over and over again especially loud on the stereo thanks Rush
Aw fudge this one hits me straight upside the soul.
What I found about this song is looking back at some older past and try to carry on and bare the agony of what you done and try to move forward with a new life as in dating and see what would have happened before the past but now there is nothing that you can do to change it back its to late to do that

Halo Effect: A documented social-psychological phenomenon that causes people to judge someone with the traits of someone else, usually positive.
One hell of a band. Never ran out of gas, never stopped trying to be interesting (although it seemed to come pretty naturally to them), never wavered in the dedication to the crafts of writing and playing. Not to sound pretentious about it, but damn, they were remarkable.
I don't know if anyone has asked this, but I'm a curious sort, especially about literature, what is the starting quote from at the very beginning? There was no indication of a writer, and then I became curious. Any clues would sate a curious mind.
Ligea it's from Neil Peart's book upon which this song and album are based.

Rush never released anything bad
ChrisDoes SomeStuff RUSH's worst song is better than every other band's best song.
Dog years is one of my favorites. It's grungy with that glint of meaning. Perfect song
*Cough* The entire Presto album.
BOI WHAT ARE YOU DOIN' TRASHING PRESTO LIKE THAT. GOSH
ChrisDoes SomeStuff i actually like dog years. I find it’s fun and quirky. Rush experimenting with an idea and putting a good message into an otherwise silly idea for a song

I'd probably treat my wife the same way I'd treat mom and dad.
...like you, spite you, still I can't forget you...
incredible melody, but the chorus seems..... I don't know,, it sounds so much like "the other half"
