Rush - Afterimage Lyrics
Suddenly, you were gone
From all the lives you left your mark upon
I remember
How we talked and drank into the misty dawn
We ran by the water on the wet summer lawn
I see the footprints
I remember
I feel the way you would
I feel the way you would
Tried to believe but you know it's no good
This is something that just can't be understood
I remember
The shouts of joy skiing fast through the woods
I hear the echoes
I learned your love for life,
I feel the way that you would
I feel your presence
I remember
I feel the way you would
This just can't be understood...

Qué linda música y qué hermosa letra!!!
I absolutely love Signals,Grace Under Pressure,Power Windows, and Hold Your Fire!!!
My fav band but who the hell shot this video???? Wtf
So many great songs. Love it!
I love this album whats the problem its great
Pure passion and power...
Listen to that guitar at 3:17, dominant brilliance!
This song and the whole album Grace Under Pressure were dark because they lost a friend in an accident.
Rush's problem was that they sacked their best producer. Terry Brown was the soul of the band
After that ingenuity of these 3 saved the band. I wished they had gone back....
I dont evèn think some of their producers were a Rush fan!?
Sort of like videographers for Pink Floyd concerts....
Just found this video in a Rush dvd I have "Chronicles". I've watched this dvd a 1,000 times but never saw this. Must be my new hi def Sony tv. Thanks Sony. Great song. Cheers!
Tom Hanks plays the drums???
Love this song and the band awesome rock n roll
I'm very biased.
RUSH can do no wrong.
Another elderly relative passed away yesterday and this song really hits home more frequently than I ever thought it would but I love it and them none the less.
super Rush forever
Nutty as I was for Rush in my teens, I secretly played and loved their '80s stuff thanks to A Show Of Hands. And now that I'm in my mid-thirties, this era just clicks with me so deeply. The direct lyrics, the punchy pop craftwork, so many great songs ripe for rediscovery!
And I just wanna say to you '70s prog-era gatekeepers lurking here: good music is good music, and I won't feel any shame for enjoying it. Be true to yourself!
Flick I love 80’s Rush. Every Lp from Pictures to Fire are amazing. ✌️❤️🎸
I've always felt that this song was a missed opportunity. There is something about the synth tones in the chorus that rubs me the wrong way. They just feel wrong for what the song is trying to say. Henderson never should have let this happen.
I never thought of that; now I’m imagining those chords as if Alex was playing his guitar at those points, and now I’m starting to think that it would’ve sounded better. I really think this song was missing that guitar anyway, and that would’ve been a good way to fit more of it in there. It also would’ve been a good way to fit more of Geddy’s bass playing too. As much as I like this song and the synth, I felt like it was missing Alex’s guitar and Geddy’s bass.
The band I played with in the 80s was called Afterimage. Good times!
I loved the Grace Under Pressure album. I mean I like Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels also! There are many good songs from their last 10 or 15 years of playing and recording. I've heard people try to say that they lost it after moving pictures. I'm like bullshit! Signals is one of their very best albums ever in my opinion. Bands have to revolve their sounds.
The roll the bones, and the test for Echo and albums like that are just in line with what was going on at those times there still some really good songs on those albums
Can anybody explain to me why we never get to see what Geds doing in this vid? Lol.
🤷 we get to see Alex and Neil playing their instruments, but they never showed Geddy Lee with his Moog synthesizer in foot pedals. Was there some kind of copyright problem with the names on the synthesizers? LOL
What an amazing song, sad, heartfelt, powerful, etc !!!!
Rush memories with my dad. Rush memories with my older kids.
Rush memories now with my younger kids.
Tom Hanks!
I met Geddy a couple months ago...good dude...
Great song and great album and Alex's guitar playing and chord structure is always top notch, Love Grace Under Pressure and Signals!!

This song becomes more relevant as I get older
This song is so underrated it's almost a crime
Grace under pressure had the best songs
GuP was the start of a left turn trying too heard to be relevant for the time period. Glittering prizes and all that from GuP to HYF.
Not a fan of the videography but the song is great! 😃👍
The instrumental crescendo is awesome Alex and Neil nailed it
I'm 57 and remember being a teen and Rush 2112 exploding...Best 3 man band ever...Now their retired..Sad
Douglas Fox “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” - Dr. Suess
I love how Alex uses chord inversions for the solo! Would have loved to see this song live!
It was great live...i seen them do it a few times..
You are privileged!
Rush's creativity exploded in the 80's!
Remember the song very well but never saw the video until now
This was my go-to song when my best friend died aged 21 in a car crash. Perfect lyrics, perfect song. Unforgettable.
I remember the day I bought this on cassette. Thru it in the player in my multi-color, rusting, loud 1968 GTO, and took the long way to work. Didn't take the cassette for about 3 months.
perfect tune to show that a crash cymbal does not need to be backed by a bass drum. amazing tune. best band ever.
My favourite song from the first Rush album I ever bought. Fucking glorious!
Eu detestava essa faixa. Hoje ela se aproxima do que busco. Se tornou mais forte o estilo. Perto do que tem por aí fico com as "underrated" do Rush.
This is the most Pink Floydy song by them. I really love it. Extremely well created mood and sound.
Saludos desde argentina
Que increíble tema, neil peart mi máximo referente musical... Rush la mejor banda de las bandas.
The track was dedicated to Robbie Whelan, a friend of the band who worked as an assistant engineer on some of Rush's earlier albums, most notably Moving Pictures and Signals. Neil and Robbie were especially close, no doubt influencing Neil's lyrics.
Robbie introduced cross-country skiing to Neil in the Quebec mountains. Also used to play volleyball and softball with the band. In the Permanent Waves album notes, he's thanked and listed as Robbie Whelan (right field). LOL.
Need absolutely rush for stranger things soundtrack
Neal lost his daughter and wife , you can see his life play out in this piece, look at his face at the end 4:55 he is still feeling it.....
This was ten years or so, before the car crash and cancer...?..but i know what you mean👍
Love this period , love this song
These three gave it all, they have earned a great retirement: THANK YOU, RUSH
Haircuts ! 😄
Geddy rocked that mullet!
Thank you Rush... for everything. Magic of music like this literally changes lives.
Saw them in '84 a month or two before boot camp. Me and a buddy trolled some choice floor seats for Pat Travers. But the ticketholders showed up for Rush and we were relegated to our nosebleeds. Good memory to share with Rush.
Neil Peart for president of Brazil!!!!!!!
Best song on this album is 1 that is rarely been played "Between the wheels"
That's good but The Enemy Within is the best song
@Bill yea..theyre all good..damn it
Middle solo build up with the over head camera shot is unreal ,,,what a video for 1984.
Where’s the love button on here?
*I met them with Red sector A...and they blew my head!*
🎸🥁🤪
*I saw them in Buenos Aires*
*fantastic!monstrous!* 🕛🕰️⏰⌚⏲️⏱️⏳🧞♂️🧞♂️🧞♂️
*What's up with Red sector A????Why does nobody upload the original????* 🙎🏻♀️😤🤔
Is that Tom Hanks drumming?
Lost my best friend to a bike accident at 14. ...fitting this video has bicycles etc. In it.. He also intoduced me to rush....2112 ....
This was and is wonderful. My mother's memory .
fun fact...alex is playing the 3.5 million dollar Black Strat, borrowed from the lead guitarist of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters.
David Gilmour was Pink Floyd's lead guitarist.....
@bansheebot2 no way.
Something about this song still gives me the shivers to this day.
this is fantastic
Sorry... Geddy with a mullet, Neil looking "Corporate", and Alex looking like he could be in A Flock Of Seagulls... no thanks. Give me A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, and Moving Pictures era Rush anyday. This is what I would have said 20 years ago, because I saw Rush in 1980 and 1981... my first two concerts. I had moved on to Progressive Metal and Power Metal after Signals. But, I'm rediscovering a lot of this old catalog. I like it, it's different... but I like it.
Is it me or does that kid at 3::51 look like Chunk from "Goonies"?
Was für ein starkes Lied!
God, I totally forgot about this Jam, 👍‼️‼️
Neil looks a lot like Russell Johnson.
NOTHING TO SAY, ONLY THAT RUSH IS THE GREATEST BAND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. ALSO THOSE GUYS ARE ABSOLUTE GENIUSES, ESPECIALLY NEIL PEART. THERE WILL NEVER EVER, EVER BE A BAND LIKE THESE GUYS. I LOVE U NEIL PEART🎵🎵💯
Great band / Great Álbum / Great Song🎶🎵🎼🎸😎👊
Essa música lembra meu amigo Ricardo Unger que como diz a música: Infelizmente você se foi !
Suddenly, you were gone
from all the lives you've left your mark upon. we'll miss you, Andre Matos...
BECAUSE "RUSH" TUGS AT YOUR HEART AND SOOTHES YOUR SOUL; I DO BELIEVE NO OTHER BAND, GROUP, OR INDIVIDUAL HAS THE ABILITY TO DO. I AM THE ANALOG KID; RUSH2112. PEACE; TAKE CARE@!!!
Incredible music, yesterday, today and forever. One of the greats from the greatest band in the world. Thanks Rush.
They tell a story with this unique guitar solo and climax. It builds and builds to a climax and release.
So incredibly awesome...
This is my number #1 rush song my fav since its release in 84
Such an underrated song
and consider now that market is changed, since i always liked caress of steel too i thought that could be a new possible path for a new rush album. again into melodic of lamneth, without spoken verses this time
Perfect track, Rush rules
Whoever says GUP is underrated knows shit!
Vaguei por Oldfield, Vangelis e Jon Anderson até o youtube se tocar e mandar essa
One of the greatest drum tracks of all time.
Holy 80s
The best!
Used to find this video disturbing, but now I see it as a metaphor for how they must have felt about the sudden loss of their friend; complete disbelief, denial, and lack of understanding sorta like a child.
I agree, this is massively underrated, I am quite a metal head but Rush is so wonderfully deep and still has that magic guitar sound, awesome guitar solo, thanks for this
I may be the odd ball, but Permanent Waves through Presto was actually my favorite era of Rush. I thought this era is when Rush was the most creative. Maybe not as successful, but they were taking chances with their sound — and they still rocked. Especially during the Hair metal 1980's, they were hard rock, but in a different way that separated them from everyone else.
These guys are the best period
I bought this album when it came out in the Summer of 1984. I became a lifelong Rush fan. This era was by far their best. Musically, it was the most difficult, proving their virtuosity. Many don't understand the complexity and reject it. Unfortunately, the level of subtlety is normally understood by musicians and very sensitive listeners. They packed arenas with these songs and they show Geddy at his very best. Neil's use of electronic percussion has no equal in rock. Later, record companies wanted easy sales, so they were forced to pretend they weren't first rate technicians. the last few albums sound lie a garage band. No one goes backwards unless by force.
Super mellodic beautiful the best rush.
