Rundgren, Todd - Worldwide Epiphany Lyrics

Worldwide epiphany, epiphany
Down in the lowlands to the top of the hill
Don't know what's comin', but we know that it will
Blind in Benares, deaf and dumb in LA

Hiding in Africa, but nobody gets away
Give it up one more time for the king of soul
Let the good times roll, bring it on, bring it on
Dusk 'til dawn, the landlady's gone

Send the bill to the government, pack it in cement
Babies and bachelors, fishes, cabbages, and queens
Can't hear it comin', but we know what it means
Boats upon the ocean, every plane in the air

Never know just how or when, but we always know where
Take it from the ground up, this is the last roundup
You can't win, and you can't break even
You can't be leavin' the game anyway

You've got to stay 'cause we came to play
It's a new gene, a new wavelength, or maybe it's a virus
Put the fire in us and inspire us
To trust and lust for the good life

And all that is required of us
Turn to the headline news as if we had a right to choose
To have no views as the rocket's red glare pollutes the air,
And we swear that it can't happen here

And we'll never be there
We got the right to know, which means
We got the right to misunderstand
And slant the plan to help our hand and man

They call it a culture, but it sucks you in like quicksand
Killer bees finally make it to Tokyo
Juliet never made it with Romeo
But check out the video later
Terminator III's gonna preview the next fifty years or so

Rundgren, Todd Worldwide Epiphany Comments
  1. charles mann

This is just another reason to listen to Todd Rundgren!

  2. Landon Haney

My CD-I brought me here 😄

    NotOrdinaryInGames

So you scrubbed all the floors in Hyrule?

  3. sara cheri

  4. Tony Featherstone

I love this album the more time goes on...

  5. broot apple

no wait untill i love this now FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR TOD!

  6. Martin Ziggy

Todd's conscious style and criticism of the establishment may be the reason he is not in the R&R Hall Of Fame.

    NotOrdinaryInGames

Every rock star criticized the establishment at least 5 times. No, I think it's more because he is trying not to be mainstream.

  7. rpm Koekoek

    this album is Awsome

  8. Dan B 0809

What does it exactly mean by todd rundgren "interactive"?

    sara cheri

    do what now? @Vainglory 2KW8Ω

    Vainglory 2KW8Ω

@sara cheri Well, okay, not really. It's probably floating around on the internet somewhere anyway.

    Dennyguitarxxc Dennis

Its over ur head. Ur girl will work tho

    Dennyguitarxxc Dennis

    Dennyguitarxxc Dennis

Ya i used those those were pretty cool i had used cdi alot. But hadnt heard of todd or utopia tell then. I made hard rock with the ones with his i was.

  9. Adonis Sesson

Todd is a bad ass white boy. His rapping skills isn't bad either.
    Although I prefer his singing.

  10. LUH1214

As I never had the money to purchase the interactive CD I only owned the "regular" TR-1 album. On this clip it appears there is audio not on that disc. (Have to go back and listen again.) I've done my own edits on Property and WE which was fun and makes me wish I had the CD-I. Saw this album, but never got around to purchasing it. Thanks for posting!

    NotOrdinaryInGames

The non-interactive re-release actually sound better.

  12. Stephen Cooper

    rapping

  13. Denise Horn

Started with this album in 2002; it has all come true; hang in there...

  14. Denise Horn

    LOVE THIS ALBUM......

  15. Phil Watson

    The master musician/composer/producer/performer!

    NotOrdinaryInGames

Though it's a shame the Lite version is so poorly edited with all those broken fadeouts.

    Phil Watson

@NotOrdinaryInGames Yes but it was Todd's intention to give fans the ability to adjust the playback, on the interactive version, to suit their own preference. Genius! ;)

  16. ian - イアン

Such good music. I grew up listening to this album!

  17. VulpeRenard

I owned TR:I on CD-I. Never understood what was going on when I was a kid. Didn't understand until later that it was a very progressive and experimental way to present music.

  18. death2pc

100% himself, everthing. All instruments, sounds, vocals......

  19. one4dee

Oh yeah i know todds famous for that, just wondering if he used a sequencer on a daw to make his music.

  20. NotOrdinaryInGames

Many artists do the arrangement themselves, like Graham Coxon.

  21. one4dee

I wonder if he sequenced the percussion on a daw or actually did the percussion himself or with a band? anyone know?

  22. NotOrdinaryInGames

    I know, right?

  23. NotOrdinaryInGames

    Well that was meaningless.

  24. Richard Lord

Peace in, peace out... Next please.

  25. NotOrdinaryInGames

    A twoll.

  26. Charles Remschel

    whats a troll trollup? hmnn

  27. NotOrdinaryInGames

You know nothing of trolls, since you don't know yourself.

  28. NotOrdinaryInGames

Your grammar is terrible, but I get your point.

  29. NotOrdinaryInGames

If you can afford an Internet connection, you can afford this album. Online shopping is cheap.

  30. NotOrdinaryInGames

You can just buy the thing, you know :)

  31. NotOrdinaryInGames

The lyrics on "New World Order" are a little goofy.

  32. Corduroy Angel

The full album was a complete departure for Todd, musically, but is like a wake up call from outer space... very powerful and eventually you realise it is actually very, very Todd.

  33. NotOrdinaryInGames

Really good, musically, but Todd really sucks at fade-outs when he does them himself. I actually had to edit almost every single track to add them.

  34. stealthnegro001

One of the most overlooked albums of the 1990's. A 'head' of its time.... 8-)

  35. Tycho Vlogs

I am happy i grew up to this music!

  36. NotOrdinaryInGames

@imautopian If only moar ppl would comment....

  37. sara cheri

    SO beautiful!
