Rundgren, Todd - Love Is The Answer Lyrics

Name your price
A ticket to paradise
I can't stay here any more
And I've looked high and low
I've been from shore to shore to shore
If there's a short cut I'd have found it
But there's no easy way around it

Light of the world, shine on me
Love is the answer
Shine on us all, set us free
Love is the answer

Who knows why
Someday we all must die
Were all homeless boys and girls
And we are never heard
It's such a lonely world
People turn their heads and walk on by
Tell me, is it worth just another try?

Tell me, are we alive, or just a dying planet?
What are the chances?
Ask the man in your heart for the answers

And when you feel afraid, love one another
When you've lost your way, love one another
When you're all alone, love one another
When you're far from home, love one another
When you're down and out, love one another
All your hopes run out, love one another
When you need a friend, love one another
When you're near the end, love one another
We got to love one another

Light of the world, you got to shine
Love will be a means, yeah, yeah
Shine on us all
Know that love can save the day
Just give it one more chance
Lord you just cant let it stop lord
Love is the answer
Got to be free to let love into your life
Let it shine

Rundgren, Todd Love Is The Answer Comments

2020 are you still with us

  2. Mike Harrison

Soul singer Keni Burke also has a version of this track found on his album Your'e The Best circa 1981

  3. Feisal Rahall

A message to Humanity, especially now. Todd the unsung hero of music

  4. Neai Tuppi

Todd Rundgren, the guy that walked out on Laura Nyro, when she asked for his help. Yeah, Love is the answer.

  5. Simon Cornell

And Todd is correct, one of the few people to admit it.

  6. JC Denton

Who's here after England Dan & John Ford Coley?

  7. Tony Sharples

125 must think hate is the answer on this dying planet.

  8. Realism I

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and in the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And God said...Let there be light: and there was light.

The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the Light shines in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh, God in human form, and is truly the answer.

Yes, God is love....For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Jesus Christ, the Son of God is the Word, and the Light of the world. The
only truth and way to the kingdom of heaven and eternal life.

The Son created the sun, and all the stars in the sky, and everything else.

There is no greater love than God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ.

  9. Faux Beats

Anyone know the bpm of this song?

  12. Dave Ferrier

    so fucking good

  13. Bellymeat

.....still amazed that he grew up in Upper Darby, as Upper Darby is not really noted for producing cogent, intelligent or lucid individuals.

  14. diana eichles

fabulous-great lyrics, everything going for it song- are we are feeling this now or what? Still me!!

  15. Beth Coddington

I JUST heard this song (the England Dan and John Ford Cooley) I do like thier a bit better which is unusual for me since I don't us ally like remakes. But EVER TIME I hear this it gets me. We so oo need more songs and messages like this. Powerful

  20. Renee Llewellyn

Sad that Todd didn't get the credit.

  21. Carolyn Lyford Sullivan

  25. douglas lundahl

    Love is the answer
    Wake up people

  26. Two Sheds

A truly great song and by far the best version is sung by Todd! The dying planet line is particularly poignant when considering the destruction we are inflicting in the across the world. Disappointing that so many bible bashers seem to try and use it to promote their religion!

  27. arthur workman

this is the original artist who created this great song I'm sorry but England Dan & John Ford Coley sung the hell out of this way better.

    Two Sheds

I think you need to listen to Todd sing it again, on a better sound system perhaps.

    arthur workman

@Two Sheds - that ain't gonna change a thing. You appreciate this version I grew up on the other version by England Dan & John Ford Coley.

    Two Sheds

Well, Its not just my opinion but also lots of others. The only version I hear played on the radio over here in the uk is the England Dan version so I know it really well.
When I play the Todd version, I have the album, it is so superior. Todd's voice is much stronger, the production is much better. But your entitled to your view certainly.

  28. Bernie Cremin

    Peaceful music is best

  29. Vicki Shadle

Shine on us all, Love is the Answer ,

  43. Dave Barber

For such a truly massive legend not enough is ever said about him he's so good true artist.

  44. firepower158

I'm from New Zealand. Based on our terrible tragedy in Christchurch recently, I ask everyone to PLEASE STOP HATING. Try Todd's message instead. PLEASE! Before we thoroughly destroy ourselves. Is it too much to ask?

  45. firepower158

Great performance by Todd. Was this song fist sung by him or the duo of England Dan & Jon Ford coley? Please do let me know. Thanks.

  46. Mama Jacqueroo

More than ever I deny the hate that is poisoning us. Please, join in on compassion and love. Volunteer for a good cause. Grow food in your garden and take it to food banks for those that can't buy groceries. Work in homeless shelters and animal shelters. If you care, you will do it.

  47. Donde Merlin

Hearing this song with better fidelity (not on a cassette tape copied off the vinyl album), I recognize the quality of the background vocals and the way it is mixed. It is rare for a "rock" song to have quality singing like this.

  48. Az desertflame

Doesanyone remember the calderone theater in my? I saw Todd there performing this song. Soooo good

  49. mikebtko

I was into Todd since "We Got To Get You A Woman" & then when "Hello It's Me" came out I was blown away and can say his music stays with me. There were years I drifted away, then "Nearly Human" arrived in 1990, and its got to be his best collection of brilliant songs, for 1 album!

  50. puppy love

never knew he wrote this, much better than the other group's version

  51. Jennifer Dornmeier

Todd's done so many great songs in the past, but as I listened to it, he really put some heart into writing and singing this song. Awesomeness!

  52. LunaRacc

even though I also like the England Dan version, I find this one significantly better and very underrated

  53. Jane Jones

The backup vocals are first rate❤️

  54. Creusilene Chaves

    Play música

  55. Clinton Pough

Great song but I like England Dan and john ford coley version better.

  56. Doc Davis

Earth Wind and Fire is definitely the influencers of this song.

  57. Michael Kent Smith

The fact that only 390,000 people have listened to this in 5 years kind of explains the state of the world today.

  58. The Guinea Pig Zone

Thank you for sharing this. <3 <3 <3

  59. Tom M Cornett

Many tears fell on a dry earth
    Upon listening this song

  70. 6ganey9

    Drives me to tears.

  71. Aloha Scott

Such a great song with a strong POV. During these Trumpian times a current artist, or a group of artists, should cover this song. I just Todd & Utopia in SF and Sacramento in early June and they still put on a great show

  72. Oppothumbs M

Let's get this guy into the misguided Rock Hall of Shame. I've looked high and low - light of the world shine on us all.

  73. Alton Michaels

I love this song, I love songs of hope, sadly the answer to his question can be found in the Book of the prophet Jeremiah chapter 17:9. This is the Great God's assessment of man at this time before the return of His Son. Prove it for yourself!
    Best wishes to you all.

  74. Nymphe Echo

Todd's song have this power to make me weep and give me goosebumps even if I don't understand their lyrics' meanings

    Adolph Hernandez

Todd is a great artist, eccentric at times and very versatile. I love his Rhythm and Blues songs. This song is exceptional not only musically but, lyrically. It moves me to tears. It is beautiful and so close to my heart and my belief that love is the answer. I want this played at my funeral. Love, Peace, and Understanding.

    Kathleen Murphy

I think lyrics have different meanings during our lifetimes. I always loved this song, even when I first heard it by England Dan & John Ford Coley. Now, it means something totally different to me. It finally makes perfect sense to me.

    D. Dedrick

IMO, the lyrics are crystal clear...LOVE IS the ANSWER‼️😀💕👍

  75. Marv Bair

Love has and always will be the answer! This is the single most needed song for all souls on planet Earth!

  78. S.A. Hogan

author of THE JANNAH FACTOR at books sez: What with all the crazy shit going on in the world these days, this compelling song has never hit me harder than it did RIGHT NOW--with tears in my eyes, even. Will always remember Todd's memorable performance at an intimate Seattle venue called The Firehouse, during which he actually changed a guitar string... mid-solo!

  79. Gregtape video

    UTOPIA - Oops wrong planet

    Donde Merlin

To this day, I still don't understand the meaning of the album name.

  84. nicholas santilli

I Can NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME...Understand How Todd STILL ISNT IN " The Rock n Roll Hall of Shame..!? " Can Anyone Out There EXPLAIN THAT TO ME..??

    nicholas santilli I'll explain.
Madonna is in. Todd is not in.
From this, we can tell, the RRHOF is not really a big deal.
(But I know what you mean)

Actually, the more you think about it given Todd's nonpareil ad infinitum................, Todd being inducted would be an insult.

  85. Dirley Anne

    this is my pray

  86. Laura Hause-Funner

  87. Christy Wright

I first found this great song on a CD called "Seventies Power Ballads" loaned from a friend. Since first hearing it, I must have played it over 1000 million times (well almost?! Lol) because I loved it BIG TIME the very 1st time I heard it? Going to play it over and over and I know I shall never get sick of hearing it ever, and that's the truth? xx
