Rundgren, Todd - L-5 Lyrics

Yesterday a postman
Delivered to me
The pictures that I've longed to see
A special place

A wheel in the sky
Half a mile wide
Will they have a place for me
Up in space

I'm on my way to l5
I want to stay in l5

I'm about to empty
My savings account
Hope I have the right amount
To pay the fare

If I can't leave today
I might stow away
Hiding in a storage tank
I'll get there

I'm on my way to l5
I want to stay in l5
Save me a place in l5
Give me some space in l5

Paperwork in triplicate
And endless delays
Waiting for the departure day
I hope it's soon

If you hear from my wife
I've got a new life
Somewhere between this town
And the moon

Rundgren, Todd L-5 Comments
  1. R.... S....

Todd quit dying your hair and you might consider cutting it . That ship sailed many years ago it was all just a dream and a fantasy that never came to fruition we children of the sixties conned ourselves

  2. E.... M....

70 year old man who still looks like he lives in his parents basement. Funny (or sad) how so many old rockers desperately cling to their, long-gone, youth.

  3. B.... ....

NO ONE picks his nose more than Todd Rundgren. Watch ANY 10 interviews of his, and see if you do not agree.

  4. b.... h....

    nice shorts

  5. W.... L....

12 Rods have 8 or 9 albums out......just saying. Here is what band member Ryan Olcott said about their one Todd produced album:  “Some of those songs are good, but Todd Rundgren did the absolute worst job possible with that record,” Ryan Olcott sneered. “I would straight-up re-record that record before I’d reissue it.”

  6. p.... ....

Note to self: when interviewing Todd Rundgren next time pull a chair up and sit next to him do not stand over him during the interview...wtf...

  7. T.... e....

Early 70's loved his music. Nice interview. Good to see he's still kicking.

  8. T.... S....

Such a shame, Todd and his music are so cool, yet, he seems like such a jerk. I’m not trying to troll but I am genuinely disappointed in his demeanor in this interview.

    T.... S....

🎙️I didn't see that at all ✨ Great to see and hear his input and views on everything in this segment 🤔 Thanks for posting! Todd is still relevant

  9. T.... J....

Greatness since over 50‘s years when Todd was in the Nazz. A true genius....

  10. M.... P....

I never thought I'd see Jason Statham interviewing Todd Rundgren!

  11. A.... D....

Kasim -"five strings -you don't need it!" - Haha

  12. S.... M....

I saw Utopia in 1980 and I was so impressed I had to have an electric guitar. Vai Satriani and Petrucci are definitely riding his coattails.

  13. C.... H....

too bad the Utopia ONK guitars burned up. Id like to see the remains. They should have been put in the rock and roll hall of fame!

  14. E.... D....

I tried to like the kahler trem for over a decade...I'm done with them...there are cool things about them...(the main thing I liked was being able to rest your hand even push down on the bridge it doesn't move, unlike a Floyd)..maybe mine just sucked...but for me it was a tone and sustain suck...and I had to keep replacing the roller nut pieces cuz they'd get all gunked up...and when stevens guitar shop in seattle shut down, I had nowhere to get the roller pieces...so I bailed...I'm about to bail on Floyd rose too...although mine stays in tune perfectly and amazingly, I hate that when you do bends the whole bridge moves...I much prefer the prs trem of late...you can wank on it pretty good and it will stay in tune...and with the brass saddles it gets great sustain...it moves a little during bends, but it's negligible....

  15. D.... ....

I will climb the face of the highest mountain
Though the earth may shake, let the planet tremble
Steady will I struggle onward to the glass guitar

Only one has the courage to climb to the top of the highest mountain in search
    of the fourth key.

Having scaled the mountain and finding no key; the climber begins chopping
madly at the ground with his pickaxe, causing the mountain to split in two,
    revealing the last key.

Now in possession of all four keys; the brave adventurers march triumphantly
into the valley of silence to open the chest, smash the glass guitar, and free
    the spirit of Harmony.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - An amazing concept album and Singrin and the Glass Guitar was so inspiring. I even painted an oil painting depicting the land that the four, brave and particularly talented adventurers traversed. With the ''glass guitar' featured in the centre. Now lost to the mists of time.

So sad to hear that the RA 'Ankh' guitars were lost in a fire.

  16. B.... S....

    A wizard, a true star.

  17. T.... ....

One of the most awkward interviews I’ve seen . Get that man a seat for God’s sake!

  18. T.... B....

what kind of pickups are on foamy ?

    T.... B....

I would presume stock Fernandes pickups as he said he picked that guitar because it had the loudest signal

  19. T.... C....

Love Todd! I didn't know Chris Elliott was playing guitar in his band?!

  20. L.... B....

    An Adidas monitor ?

  21. T.... M....

Nice to see my Great Favorite talking. He is a Genius in the same rare class than Steely Dan. Fan 1972- active

  22. a.... u....

    Jesse is a monster!

  23. B.... ....

"I don't think he's alive anymore so I don't think he makes any instruments anymore." =D

  24. k.... ....

the fan based guitars built for Todd are by Perry Morelli of Belfair, WA. He is a super nice person and runs a Todd R fan club or facebook page.

  25. k.... ....

lol got paddlel befor 30 jeahrs...

  26. J.... M....

Mustang 12:55; JTV 55:04; I Saw The Light bossa 1:02:40

  27. G.... F....

"This amp has been knocked around, kicked. It fell off a bridge once..."

Now THAT is a story I want to hear!

  28. M.... ....

He got the frets filed down shortly after this video.

  29. A.... T....

Tell Todd to listen to 12 Rod's third album, Lost Time, which is a masterpiece!

  30. D.... ....

    Had to bail at 15min

  31. D.... H....

What a great dude, i like this even if he isn't talking about his gear haha, it's nice to listen to a guy who is still inspired after so long.

  32. J.... P....

Nazz!! Todd what about your glass guitar?

  33. M.... R....

Todd isn't known for his outgoing personality, especially as he's gotten older and more grumpy..... So I consider this a treat for us Rundgren fans, I worked many of his shows and got know/hear his genius...... the grump is a true musical genius in so many forms and levels .... Can't wait for him to call me out for my Grump jab, love ya Grumpy ......... A great band here

    M.... R....

    Mr. Roach, I’m jealous! 🤩

  34. J.... C....

    Great interviews! Thanks!

  35. S.... B....

This was more of a “Todd’s bulging ballsack” rundown with endless verbal droning. Show the gear! Think Eric Johnson 2018. Bada Bing, Bada BOOM!

  36. T.... F....

Todd is the best! He is nominated for the 2019 R&R Hall Of Fame and he deserves to be in there! You can vote for him here: https://www.rockhall.com/fanvote

  37. m.... n....

hard to believe todd was born in 48 as he has such young and fresh ideas , for somebody supposedly beyond his sell by date he is incredibly fresh and vibrant , we should all be so healthy at seventy

  38. M.... D....

All this for line six,!, that line is crap , I’d thought he’d be a lot more Roland & complicated systems

  39. O.... ....

    12 Rods

  40. D.... S....

Though I'm a huge Todd fan, the Jesse segment was my favorite. Wanna sound like Jeff Beck? Sure, just do this. Mcglaughlin? How bout Lila's Dance. Pretty cool.

  41. F.... G....

Love the rundown. Even tho it's not very technical. Jesse plays some great Hendrix deep cut riffs in his. Great tone with a simple set up.

  42. D.... T....

I saw Todd 2 years ago at the airport in Fort Lauderdale.. But how to approach this man who's music is in my blood since 1972 when I heard him on the radio with a lot of disturbance and very soft.. It was a life changer!

  43. r.... h....

the mother of Todd's daughter is 'star fucker bitch from hell'. she fuked Steven Tyler who is now getting a sex change... what are they doing to our children??

  44. M.... C....

When you consider Todd is 70. Look as good you may not at that age.

    M.... C....

Yes he’s looking good & playing good. Saw him in concert yesterday. Brilliant performer.

    M.... C....

Pardon my immodesty but I look even better at 72

  45. A.... G....

Really disappointing!I The other band members stuff was cool, but it would have been cool to know what gear Todd used in the past or at least for him to play a bit through his "Rig" Oh well!

  46. J.... S....

new drinking game: take a drink everytime he rubs his nose or sniffs

  47. f.... ....

that was interesting..i remember feeling relieved when i found out keith richards dont use pedals though..

  48. J.... R....

I also would like to Add that tbe LINE6 Spider IV 75 WATT Amp is incredible..I have Both the Marshall MG 100FX and LINE6 i wont part with them..

  49. J.... R....

Solid State/Modeling Amps do everything and Much more than a Tube Amp i was a Tube Amp user only until i Tried A Marshall MG 100FX..after that have never Looked back on the Tube Amps Solid State/Modeling Amps do everything a Tube Amp does and much much more and much more Reliable than any Tube Amp and very versatile..

    J.... R....

Joey Riche I’m the opposite. Used ss amps and moved my way up. Never going back and I have a few modelers too. Not as good as the amp.

  50. m.... d....

That was a great run down. Three completely different setups and all great guys..

  51. J.... C....

Just caught Todd show last Tuesday. Freaking amazing. Got to meet Kaz and Prairie Prince the drummer after the show. Great night!

  52. c.... ....

Sheesh. What kind of amplification? I gots ta know!

    c.... ....

    Line 6 HDX Pro.

  53. m.... n....

20:28 i wonder if todd might have used a better example of when over producing can get in the way of creativity as THE CARS debut album THE CARS i'm pretty sure is on the mount rushmore of rock albums

  54. V.... L....

    N.... 5....

    NEOPAGAN 59 the Fool?

  56. B.... S....

can someone keep a tally of the word "sound"?

  57. H.... ....

    Cool

  59. b.... y....

utopia. it's all so very clear now

  60. b.... y....

fire had to be mid to late 80s i saw todd with the tubes in 84 and the had the motorcycle drumkit

  61. B.... M....

Those guitar sounds and playing Todd did on Bat Out Of Hell are still in my opinion legendary and untouchable.

    B.... M....

Was he main guitarist on that album?

  62. G.... ....

The last guys’ segment was the best. I know I’m not going to like a rig rundown if the main subject has no guitar around his neck.

  63. p.... w....

great player but less playing a pity....

  64. F.... X....

loved the Jesse segment, what a cool dude

  65. E.... K....

Jessies pic expense is about $1.50 per decade.

  66. L.... M....

I'm becoming addicted to this.  Cool stuff.

  67. 1.... 7....

Todd IS a straight-up genius. LOVE his music. Getting old.
(Too bad he let his personal politics ruin a large segment of his fan base.)

    1.... 7....

We need more artists to take a stand - like they did in the 60s and early 70s. It's not art if it's not expressing who you are.

    1.... 7....

Mike : I agree with you and I would even if I did not agree with Todd (Godd)'s politics. The real "too bad" would be if Todd was afraid to express how he really is.

  68. R.... H....

If you missed a Todd Show in mid 70's too bad. He put on The Ultimate three hours of intense rock n roll as good as anybody in That Era n I saw em All haha

  69. s.... ....

Great show! Yes, I was there with Foamy and Butter! 😊 Loads of fun. Finally met several fans from various Todd Facebook pages and old friends, too. Loved that! The man keeps getting better and better. The band was stellar as always. Sadly, someone stole my Todd signed bottle of wine! Grrr
Here's hoping they enjoyed it as much as I would have, and at least shared a glass with another life-long Todd fan. @#LoveIsTheAnswer

    rudd tundons big downrun. kool

  71. H.... S....

    Utopia! The Icon!

  72. H.... S....

    Sea foam. And coral pink

    H.... S....

    54' bonanza colors

  73. a.... g....

thinking again how the ultimate combination of blue-eyed soul music is just a cab ride away - Todd Rundgren going over to Edgar Winter's place - why has this not happened?

  74. d.... ....

sorry, tod u look horrible. u aren't aging well. if it was a woman they wouldn't dare let her look the way he looks. i'm not going to look at the video, 'gonna go and look at his earlier videos and stay there!

    d.... ....

Because music is "how you look".

  75. D.... G....

    Good interview

  76. T.... F....

Wow ! Been hoping for this one but never thought it would ever be. Nice one !

  77. E.... N....

I don:t like this interviewer, sorry. .I like Todd though..

    E.... N....

It;s the hands i think..He can't move his mouth without moving his hands.. weird. and irritating..

  78. R.... t....

I can't help but be entranced by Todd's hairless thighs.

  79. A.... t....

    Talented guy.

  80. C.... K....

Methinks Toddy just got back from Peruvia.....but at 1:03:18 he shows what a true guitarist really is.

    C.... K....

One of Todd's guitar techs from the late 70's to mid 80's told me that Todd looked at his guitars simply as tools. He didn't care about brands or build so it's not surprising that he doesn't really go into specifics about the guitars or knows much about them.

  81. h.... ....

Todd . . . Hello, it's me!!! Love, love, love!!!

  82. c.... ....

Veleno's didn't have solid bodies. They are two hollowed out pieces screwed together. The neck was solid, really thin, but with about twice the mass of the hollow body making them neck dive like no other guitar.

I owned one for many years and sold it for way too much money for such a terrible guitar. :D

Mine was # 70 something and had early 70s gibson SG pickups (not braided).

  83. j.... ....

Todd is god, but has gotten lazy and lost on guitar tone , great playing worst sound ever😞
Why play so well and the sound be so bad🤔
    Line6 and mods are shit🔥🔥

  84. J.... c....

Bloated libtard should consider nutrition system.

  85. C.... M....

Some guys just don't require a long Rundown. Some guys are steeped in the rabbit-hole of gear, and all it's trappings. Other guys, not so much.

  86. m.... ....

    1:06:26 Lila's Dance.
    Anyone else notice???

    m.... ....

I did. It took me 3 weeks to learn that tune in the 70's. Was impressed that he could play like Jeff as well.

  87. m.... ....

    Mickey Rourke?

  88. M.... ....

Reminded me of a tax law seminar after a heavy meal....

  89. y.... ....

This is a good video for 1.25 speed. You're welcome :|

    y.... ....

I am diggin' this guitar player at the end, tho! Kudos on the passable Beck impression! :D

  90. S.... F....

Todds hair line goes from ear to ear he is so weak he is skinny and fat he looks like the real life Beavis of Beavis and Butthead

    S.... F....

He's 70 years old. Did you expect him to look like he did when he was 20?

    S.... F....

Show us what you look like at 70.

    S.... F....

tomcoryell you want pictures of me 9 years ago?
twitchy little bitch he still is.

    S.... F....

This is a pretty shallow comment - even for a troll. I’ll take the bait anyway & just respond by saying that we should all have even one tenth of what’s behind that hairline. I wouldn’t change a thing about Todd...not his looks, his music, his genius, his heart, or his love for, and accessibility to, his fans.

  91. a.... ....

Great rundown - lot sof cool things here and there. And then at 1:06:28 Mahavishnu excerpt - nice! Very nice.

  92. S.... M....

Todd and Steve Vai. Id love to hear what they would do together!

    S.... M....

Also Donald Fagen and Todd on the song writing side.

  93. D.... ....

    Stylin' those socks...

  94. J.... ....

    Play it at 1.25x speed

  95. p.... ....

please dont ever do anything like this ever again I will die of boredom

  96. f.... ....

    Nice get up, Todd....

  97. c.... ....

Jackie Lomax of The Undertakers fame?

  98. C.... T....

Please do a Sloan Rig Rundown! They play Memphis next week!

  99. B.... M....

Rat, Klon, Zendrive... 3 decades of tone on one board
