Rufus - Stop On By Lyrics

You're welcome, stop on by
You know I'll be there baby
To dry your eyes
Though I get tired, yeah of bein' that second guy
Don't be no fool baby, you 'bout to lose your old standby

Is the material things that he's givin'?
Can you truly say that you're happy livin'?

I'm the one that's givin'
Boy, I don't want to hurt your feelings

Stop on, stop on, stop on, stop on by

You're welcome, stop on by

One day, one day, one day, one day
I might be the one to make you cry
Don't take for granted
I'll always be there
Cause there's somebody somewhere, yeah
That can truly need me

Is the material things that he's givin'?
Can you truly say that you're happy livin'?

I'm the one that's givin'
Boy, I don't want to hurt your feelings

Stop on, stop on, stop on, stop on by

The gig at the L.A. Forum back in 77! A 100,000 folks, Rufus feat Chaka Khan, The Isley Brother's, Bootsy, Parliament Funkadelic! The list goes on maybe to include the Brother's Johnson? I read about it in SOUL magazine. This song for some reason brings to mind Chaka more than her other hits at times. Can't honestly say why the L.A. Forum gig comes to mind . . . Oh now I remember. . .Chaka was the centerfold in one of the issues! I just put it together! That smile, that outfit and that voice together was a for to be reckoned with! And you know what they say about an irresistible force meeting an immovable object! Barry White called those days "Back when the music was real"! Chaka Khan! Forever on my all time favorites list! R. Youngblood

    Cecilie M
