Roxy Music - A Really Good Time Lyrics
You're heard enough
Of the blues and stuff
You're pretty swell now
'Cause you're pretty tough
But I don't have to tell you
You never bothered
About anyone else
You're well educated
With no common sense
But love - that's one thing
You really need to get by
All your troubles
Come from yourself
Nobody hurts you
- They don't care
A really good time
All the things
You used to do
A trip to the movies
A drink or two
They don't satisfy you
They don't tell you anything new
You know I don't talk much
Except to myself
'Cause I've not much to say
And there's nobody else
Who's ready and willing
And able to know me - I guess
Listen to me
I'm not finished yet
There's something to tell you
That I can't forget
Just have a really good time
There's a girl
I used to know
Her face is her fortune
She's got a heart of gold
She never goes out much
But boy - when she does
Then you know
She's got no money
Well, maybe a dime
But she knows what she's worth
And that's reason why
She's gonna make it
She's got what it takes
You'll appreciate that
She's probably late
But I know
And you know
We all know
She'll have a really good time

Roxy Music A Really Good Time Comments
Country Life is one of the best albums ever. A Really Good Time is one of the best songs ever. Roxy are one of the best groups ever.
Class 007
Holy Fuck, that was awesome!
It really does not get much better than this!

bryan's vampire phase
Reminds me of my then girlfriend .looks to die for , heart of gold.great album.
I love the way the verses change perspective each time, from 2nd person view to ist person view to 3rd person view.
Elegant melancholy
This reminds me of David Bowie Changes and Ziggy Stardust.
When my son was born, we chose this to be the first song he would ever hear. He's beautiful.
So cool. 💜
So profound and yet so simple and direct.
It's not just my mid-life crisis, I swear, but this just makes me cry. It is so insanely amazing. How to say it? Thrilling, stimulating - like nothing else. I am mesmerised by Mr. Ferry. Did he know just how brilliant he was being? The whole thing just blows my mind. Thank god it happened.
yes. Bryan always thought was brilliant, and rightly so.
I know exactly what you mean. thanks for expressing it.
Adore this song, and Bryan looked fabulously Laurence Harvey like here!
Yep... you are that! ...Ferry.... .Keep it going... Please....
The greatest band ever
Sheer brilliance
This is Bryan in his Great George Hamilton Gatsby mode! Methinks.
This video I've never seen before, that's odd. What is this even from? Nevermind, Midnight Special. Check.
WHAT A MASTERPIECE, I LOVE ROXY SINCE MY YOUTH !!!
Are they miming this song? That audio seems the exact same as the studio album version, to my ear
John Wetton on bass
Wonderful❤️❤️❤️
Philadelphia summer 1993, and this says it all about you, JR!
A beautiful song. most has been said in the comments before me. I remember singing to this on my own in my teenage bedroom when the album was first released...
Still brilliant
It would be great to see Roxy music in Australia 1 more time
Oh my god..the memories...
Fantastic song
viva roxy
his voice is like honey
i can´t decide which RM song is my fav!! sleepless about that!RM surprises me again and again.the songs are always new and familair since 30 years to me
my favorite Roxy music song
OMG. I am 60 and have never seen that footage. Thank you for posting.
Why don't you post this with the live audio? That is SO much cooler than this. I can just put on the record if I want to hear the studio version. That version with the live audio -- and I know there are slight turning issues, but who cares? -- is rare and special. If you made this video, it suggests you have in your possession the version with the proper audio. Why not post it?!
Country Life is a classic album.
Just wonderful
Country Life - Not mentioned as a classic, but it is in my mind (and heart). What a piece of vinyl that was.
CL is by far my favorite of their recordings
such wonderful memories...happy days..
I wish this was a live recording, but I opened another YT window and was able to sync the album track to this audio. That aside, one of RM's best songs and the line "She never goes out much, but boy when she does then you'll know" is just too good.
This is not the original sound, it was recorded live... One of the best Roxy tracks btw
I'm pretty sure this is the album track applied to the Midnight Special performance footage. Which doesn't lessen my enjoyment of the clip in the slightest! But now I'm gonna see if the whole M.S. performance is available.
this is a banger
Sheer, unadulterated, pure greatness!
A breathtakingly beautiful song from a time when Bryan and the band could do no wrong.
It's such a pity that Bryan seems content nowadays to release albums that all but swamp his vocals with their over produced multi layered backing tracks.Perhaps he feels he doesn't have much to say lyrically, which would explain his voice being less of a focal point.
I,and many others, would love to see him return to a more stripped down arrangement as demonstrated on this classic track. Oh! well,we can but dream
NIGHTFRIGHT2011 I totally agree. It's either dense, overproduced sound or covers of standards and Dylan. The drugs and his personal life no doubt had an influence. Stunning second side to Country Life. To the people that dismiss the Jobson albums they really are missing out
omfg!!!
Woah!!!
Sometimes this is what I need to hear.
Only sometimes??
thats not live sorry it straight off the album
Love it!! love Jobson his backing keys especially in the last few measures augment the greatness of this song.
Many friends have told me this song reminds them of me :/ I love this song and sadly it reminds me of myself too.
I was that girl when I was younger, but I can tell you something, we can all grow into something better than what we were when we began…..
One of my favourite tracks from Country Life. Personally, I am deeply moved by this song
Growing up with Roxy Music certainly gave me a Really Good Time !
My all time favourite song from, for me, their best ever album Country Life. Criminally underated band-still great live when they get together.
one of the best and saddest and truest songs ever about the human condition.
On our way to enlightenment, we have to pass through so many stages of hope, ennui, pain and beauty.
so let's all just try to be as kind as we can be to each other….and have a really good time.
+Karen Katz Well said!
You are a sage. Blessings !
Karen Katz nailed it.
Are they miming in this? Because the audio is the exact same as the album version, as far as I can tell.
I was that girl 45 years ago. Fortunately while I grew up a fair bit, that girl is still a bit alive in me. Keeps me humble and grateful.
2 words classic song
pure classic song paul thompsons work so fat and sharp thanks paul and andys sax lines magic from true roxy music fan
Too bad Ferry is such an arrogant pompous dick.....he's a true genius but his head is swollen! Loved all his music since I was a teen...but poor character puts him way dooooooowwwwwwn!
@Pam Athwal You're wrong..Very wrong..
+Pam Athwal You must be thinking of someone else (?). That is *not* an accurate description of Bryan Ferry. Far from it...
Not True Bryan Ferry is a true gentleman
He sent me the nicest condolences on the loss of my husband I will always appreciate his kind heartfelt message
+Pam Athwal Roight.
+Pam Athwal Don't agree.
Thank you for posting ~ by far Englands best singer songwriter ~ best regards Steve in York
Roxy Music is better than the Beatles. There, I said it.
Ha, no.
I wouldn't say that, buy Roxy Music definitely did better music than any of the Beatles solo after 1969
I love them both, of course...but I do listen to Roxy more often.
That isn't saying anything.
From "Roxy Music" Country Life , the best.
the one and only Bryan Ferry--nothing like it..
Where's the actual live Midnight Special performance of this? It's incredible.
simple, pure, hypnotic, narcotic, i come back again and again. never loses it's potency.
Damn they were on Midnite Special and I missed it? Well I saw them in SD so I guess that's Ok. Ennui anyone.
@80111live of course I remember, none of the twats here can match you my friend!
no, im just kidding, any person that came here to this Roxy's sanctuary is a great person ;-)
@carreenw I found this because you liked it. Thank you! ^_^
This is wonderful.
@801liveable Yes indeed!
we huged and I manage to swap a few words with him.
@801liveable and I have to point out, that he didn't lose that CHARM in his solo works, such as "to turn you on", "will you still love me tomorrow", "you can dance".
btw, he is also very chrming and cool in person aswell :-)
@801liveable lol, you just named my favorite songs :-) there are so many intense tunes on the eary Roxy's albums. It's a sheer pleasure!
@801liveable Bryan laid-back singing made roxy music a brilliant band. they had a great carreer worl-wide, not so much in the states. but I mostly think it's because Ferry was much more complex for the american people. especially when he put all his make-up in the Roxy era ;-)
one of my roxy faves.
FERRY LOOKING SOOOOOOO FINE!
OMFG that guy is so fricking cool!!!
great...
These re-dubbed Roxy/Ferry tracks from 'Cowbanas' are fantastic - check them all out. Just booked my Roxy Music Concert tickets for 2011
