Roth, David Lee - Easy Street Lyrics
Saturday night at the corner cafe
I had me some drinks and I'm feeling my way
The moon's on the rise
And it looks like a night for romance
I'm doin' the rounds and I'm under a spell
Must be the place
Yes I knew when she asked me to dance
I'm on easy, easy street
I'm on easy, easy street
Seeing as how I'm a regular guy
Watching the girls of the evening go by
I got me a chance
I'm on easy, easy street
I'm on easy, easy street
Wow, oh
So if you're feeling like you're just some lonely man
When ever you're down, in need of gentle care
There's always easy street, you know you got
But just remember boy, it's only a one night stand
Haha, that's right
I'm perfect anyways
Ooh, down at Easy Street
Ooh, ooh, uh
Ease down that street
Oh, ah, ha ha ha
Ow, how, say baby
What you doing tonight?

Saturday night
At the corner cafe
I had me some drinks
And I'm feeling my way
The moon's on the rise
And it looks like
A night for romance
Shuffling down
Pass the local hotel
Doing the rounds
And I'm under a spell
Must be the place
Yes I knew
When she asked me to dance
I'm on easy, easy street
I'm on easy, easy street
Seeing as how
I'm a regular guy
Watching the girls
Of the evening go by
I got me a chance
And I'm making it
Making it last
I'm on easy, easy street
I'm on easy, easy street
So if you're feeling like
You're just some lonely man
When ever you're down
In need of gentle care
There's always easy street
You know you gotta pay
But just remember boy
It's only a one night stand
That's right
I'll probably
Make it anyway
Down that easy street
She got nasty
Say baby
What you doing tonight?
That unmistakable voice, that 4 1/2 octave range. He took this Edgar Winter Group song written by the late great Dan Hartman and made it masterful....although I'm a major fan of EWG...gotta say...listen to the insanely high screams at the end....that's not falsetto either. those are some pipes, Dave. ;-) No wonder he wore them out. can't rebuild vocal cords.....
Dave is singing the cover off the ball here.
One freaking kickass song, Rothized..Vegas here I come
This was the perfect EP. David Lee can definitely hold his own. I love the way his music makes me get up, sing along, and start dancing!
I try to hit his cool screams at the end of the song --- I fail miserably, of course
Who does the Original...?!?
Dave always added an element of class no other rockers ever did to their own bands. He brought all of that jazz, blues, big band, bopshoo wop, etc. to his style. It was smart...genius in fact.
Damn straight!
Famous Edgar Winter song from 1974. Dave does a great job, especially having Edgar play Saxophone on the track. Listen to the the original, cause both are great songs and great musicians. Edgar Winter Group - Easy Street https://youtu.be/Q-2IW2XnYMI
Indisputable ring leader and master of good time rockin music.
This song reminds me when I banged my girlfriend's grandma
What? Lol
Wow. SWFARE makes us take notice
Wow...like TMI...
Lmao, my thoughts verbatim!
Did one Crazy Summer brought anyone here?
Not really. I do remember the movie though, wasn't this song played over the opening credits and it was a claymation montage or something?
Read my earlier comment, it brought me here! I even have it on DVD.
@GenX Tremist --- I think it was a 2-D animation sequence for the opening credits --- havent seen it for a long time
DLR!eat 'em and smile was a good follow up.
meant eat 'em and smile
diamond Dave was the shit!! I had this tape when I was 11 and use to jam out in my barn in Oklahoma!
Dave at his Peak!
I moved to El Paso, Tx in '85 from NJ. Some kinda culture shock!!! I knew a guitar player from there and he always said, "If your having a bad day and u want to cheer yourself up, put this song on!" And damned if he ain't right! Still works!!
Dave. The undisputed heavyweight champion of rock frontmen. Accept no substitutes.
Edgar Winter version is better. Edgar play woderful on sax here :)
Muddy Waters
Holy Fucking Sexy Groove! Amen.
Every cover Diamond Dave does is better than the original. Still sparkles like a Diamond!
ikr - I was just thinking exactly the same. And this EP was recorded at the same period of his peaking EVH-years and produced by the same producer. He also made a fantastic version of the old Louis Prima classic "Just a Gigolo".
Edgar Winter on sax...REALLY? I briefly thought back to his harmonizing line with Ronnie Montrose's guitar on 'Frankenstein' and it all makes sense!
One of DLR's best solo vocals.
Once upon a time, there was a lonely kind of a guy, who had resigned himself to the fact that Love was blind. "Now, if Love is blind," he thought to himself, "How will it find me? It honestly seems such a crime. For how many times has Love knocked on the door, when it should've been knocking on mine? And so, one day, he went off in search of the aloof creature. He soon happened upon the Cute and Fuzzy Bunny Gang. Perhaps they could help him.
"Pardon me, Cute and fuzzy bunnies," he said. "I wonder if you could help me find Love."
"Love would have NOTHING to do with such a stupid-looking creature," said the first cute and fuzzy bunny.
"With that nose..." "And those shoes!" "And that stomach!" "And those Eyes!" "And those EARS!"
"Roses are red, Violets are blue, but Love will have nothing to do with you!"
They chanted and danced around him. Naturally, our hero was very saddened by this. so he... Actually, he reached into his suitcase, and pulled out an Israeli Submachine Gun, and he sawed those cute, fuzzy bastards in half with hot lead! It was beautiful!
So you remember One Crazy Summer?
I think the Edgar Winter Group w/ Rick Derringer did this on their mid 70's gem that was overlooked called Shock Treatment.
Edgar played on this version as well.
This song makes me wanna sing along.....EaSy StReEt....and im under a spell...he can sing his butt off...
The original was done by Edgar Winter who plays the sax on Daves version...
Who did the original ??
Annie Cast
Edgar Winter
love how he used to be able to hit two different notes at the same time, very rare.of course he caint do it no mo!
That train whistle effect was his signature sound
I always have this version followed by the original on my play list. love it.
Who does the Original...?!?
I can only agree with oneuma just below, David Lee Roth knows how to make you happy! This is one of my favourite tracks from his solo career. This entertainment hero has the ability to influent you with his easy living/humouristic image.
If you are just a little bit like that in real life Dave, I think you live a terrific life! And I really love your style, man.
"Give me a bottle of anything, and a glazed donut!! TO GO!" :-D
I really hope your back in VH to stay! Welcome to gig in Sweden...!
A Great song !!
With the great, Edgar Winter on horns, no less!
This great song is featured in the 1986 comedy, "ONE CRAZY SUMMER"; great film, too!
当時を思い出します。デイヴ・リー・ロスってこういう渋い人だったの!?って♪ GOODです
I'm a Diamond Dave fan...met Van Halen at Hilton Jax ,Fla. they had like one of Top floors... Me and a friend Snuck In...Wall to wall Beautiful Girls...!!! Damn good times...
Check out the Edgar Winter original. Do yourself a favor.
