Rossum, Emmy - Sentimental Journey Lyrics

Gonna take a sentimental journey
Gonna set my heart at ease
Gonna make a sentimental journey
To renew old memories

Got my bag, I got my reservation
Spent each dime I could afford
I'm like a child in wild anticipation
I long to hear that "All aboard!"

Seven, that's the time we leave at - seven
I'll be waiting up for heaven
Counting every mile of railroad track
That takes me back

I never thought my heart could be so yearny
Why did I decide to roam?
I'm gonna take this sentimental journey
Sentimental journey home

Seven, that's the time we leave at - seven
I'll be waiting up for heaven
Counting every mile of railroad track
That takes me back

I never thought my heart could be so yearny
Now, why did I decide to roam?
I gotta take this sentimental journey
Sentimental journey home

One year in the 60s. All my father wanted was for my mother to sing this song for him.  She had it recorded for him. Not an easy task considering the only way at the time was to have put on vinyl.  We did find it and played at his wake.  Mom had a very strong voice.  At 80 plus she also sang it at the funeral.  This was a sentimental journey!

Wow that's really touching, thanks for sharing.

The original version's introduction was way too long! I have loved Doris Day since I watched her sing in 'The Man Who Knew Too Much' though. Great rendition!

  20. G.... S....

God i love this woman. How talented is she! Wow! Incredibly beautiful, smoldering voice.

  21. E.... P....

When someone has a beautiful voice like she does it needs to be noticed. She is like Christina Aguilera she has a beautiful voice but it's not recognized as much as Christina's is.

I think Emmy was born 75 years to late she seems like someone who would have been a very popular singer and actress during the 1920's through the 1960's. But she did an amazing job covering all the songs she did I think the original artists who sang these songs, dead or alive are very proud of her for covering them so well.

    E.... P....

i agree i think i was born almost 100 years too late haha the 20s-50s definitely one of worlds greatest times in terms of music and innovation nothing else i wish we could bring back this style

  23. E.... S....

she has an amazing voice that needs to be noticed!

  24. V.... G....

Lovely voice, I wish I could sing like her, she needs to be more recognized as an actress and singer.

  25. J.... I....

I love Doris Day and always felt nobody could touch her when it comes to this song, but I have to admit, Emmy nails it! She has a beautiful voice and excellent taste in music.

I love this. I am a life long Doris fan and Emmy here gives me the same shiver up the spine that Doris and her voice does. Good job I say! no one else could come that close.

  31. t.... m....

Does not compare to the original by Doris Day. I am not a Doris Day fan but she really can sing. Tim
