Ross, Diana - And If You See Him Lyrics

And if you see him
Tell him I miss him
Tell him I feel so bad
For messing up what we had

And if you see him
Tell him I'm sorry
And I regret the day
I let him walk away

And I want to be by his side
And I need his love and pride
And I need him

And if you see him
Tell him I'm begging
I'll do a song and dance
Just for a second chance

And if you see him
Tell him just how I look
The circles underneath my eyes
The make up don't seem to hide

And I stay awake every night
And I pray that he just might walk in
And love me
Walk in and love me

I miss him more than he'll ever know
Tell him he was
My everything
He was more than just a flame
And I need him
I miss him

And if you see him
Tell him my fire
No, it's just won't burn
Till the day that he returns

And I want to be by his side
And I need his love and pride
And if you see him
Tell him I'm begging

  3. J.... P....

Surrender one of my favorite albums by Diana Ross. Thanks!

  4. g.... ....

Diana sounds so pure. Her vocals are so clean crisp. Great music. I wish this song was a little longer in length. Her best writers were, Nick and Valerie, Michael M. and Bernard & Nile.

  5. W.... T....

Great Song … should have been a Big Hit fore Miss Ross.

  6. h.... ....

I always believed that this album was even better than her 1st solo album that produced Ain't No Mountain High Enough... Reach Out, I'll Be There has a PERFECT VOCAL and Perfect Production and Arrangement AND Mix...

  7. o.... ....

    What a great song !!!

  8. g.... ....

Not a chance in hell , these lyrics would ever be penned in  2018 and beyond She has many more ,much better though .Nice tune

    Third Album solo.
    I love this Album.

  12. m.... h....

if you see him tell him i miss him x

  13. G.... A....

Great song from a very underrated album. Rolling Stone magazine gave this album a very tepid review. Whatever. Wish she would have done more songs like this.

    G.... A....

If this had been Barbara Cher or Bette Rolling Stone Magazine would have loved and praised this album.

  14. J.... O....

In the UK the "Surrender" album was re titled "I'm Still Waiting" due to the massive popularity in the UK of the "I'm Still Waiting" track simply added to the "Surrender" album's UK release "https://www.discogs.com/Diana-Ross-Im-Still-Waiting-Surrender/release/3512754

This track is well worth hearing on headphones. Diana double-tracks the initial vocals with one voice on each headphone. You can hear the slight differences between the vocals. When she comes to sing "And I want to be by his side" the two vocals swoop and join in the middle of the sound spectrum. Exhilarating ! Great production by songwriters Ashford and Simpson with arrangements by my favourite Motown arranger Paul Riser (Papa was a Rolling Stone, My Girl, Marvin's I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Reach Out and Touch, Tears of a Clown).

    M.... G....

Great comment and interesting information. I have always loved the sound of the recording, and thanks to you, I now understand better how it was achieved. Thanks.

    M.... G....

    I love this

    M.... G....

Thanks for explaining that. Always noticed that on a few of her Ashford/Simpson productions. Love it.

  16. B.... M....

This was one of my favorite albums. I wore the that vinyl out.

    B.... M....

Me too Brian. Wore mine out - my very favourite!

    B.... M....

    Brian Monahan "ALL THE BEFORES"

  17. D.... P....

    LOVE this album!!!

  18. f.... h....

No female singer in the world has sung so many good songs. The arrangament of the song is fantastic. It is as though Diana inspired the musicians.

    f.... h....

@frankie hunter no, diane had top notch producers what wouldn't let her skate vocally like she does today.

  19. c.... e....

I totally love this track from her :Surrender" album, but my favorite cut from the same album is her cover version of "Reach Out, I'll Be There".

  20. M.... C....

    The best is Diana Ross.

  21. D.... R....

    Wonderful polished Ashford-Simpson production.

  22. C.... F....

UR right it is a gem!!!

  23. D.... X....

    DIVINA DIVA,

  24. g.... ....

Dated but beautiful song all the same.

  25. R.... S....

This is def top 20 Ross cuts! Must listen on a newer format - is even more amazing. I crank the crystal clear iTune version in my 'vert 'round SaMo and her voice is awesome, even at full volume. How this collection was so lost and overlooked, is a not only a tragedy to the D.R. community, but also those passionate about good 70's, honest, authentic, extraordinary, pop-soul music. As a lifelong fan, I'm embarrassed I didn't discover this collection of work until much later. Shame on me!!

  26. M.... ....

    great song

  27. s.... a....

My big sis had this on an 8 track cartridge in her mini mid-seventies on Surrender album - this is the best!

  28. j.... ....

Nick Ashford is one of my all-time favorite lyricists. I had the privilege of meeting him once and told him the story of how I came to buy this album when I was a young girl. I had gotten some birthday money, went to the record store but could only afford one record. It was a hard decision but I finally decided on this one not because of the singer (though I loved Diana Ross), but because most of the songs were written by him and Valerie Simpson and I knew I'd probably love them. And I did.

  29. M.... 2....

This song is filled with so much imagination; every time I hear it, it sweeps me off my feet......

  30. L.... A....

@Koach127 I have to agree with you. My favourite and most played album of all time. I wore my vinyl 12" album out long since...then years later along came the cd...

and now it's well and truly ipod-ed !!

  43. C.... D....

Possibly one of my top twenty tracks of all time!

  44. h.... ....

The musical arrangement sounds like something off of a LOVE AMERICAN STYLE episode. It's soooo charming.

  45. D.... ....

Ok bitches......listen to the Queen now !

  46. M.... ....

One of my favorite albums by Diana. Heck...I enjoy just about ALL of her albums. Kinda hard to naroow it down.

  47. s.... ....

Loved this album track but it not any any of her others which is a shame as it's a good track

  48. p.... ....

yeah, after hearing this, i purchased the extended surrender remastered cd too. i love diana ross. i have about thirty diana ross cds and before i die, i'll probably acquire 30 more. that's just how much i love her. i keep waiting for them to release an extended remastered version of her self-titled diana ross cd which features kiss me now and her original version of smile which is not contained on her blue cd. oh, i love that blue cd. it is such a gorgeous presentation. it's so wonderful

  49. D.... X....

me fez lembrar da minha infancia .valeu mesmo bjs

  50. B.... ....

XanaduCGN, I agree with what you said about this song! I've played this song and others from her Surrender album for friends - many whom have never heard the songs before except for the title song itself! Thanks for sharing it on youtube!!

  51. J.... ....

I thought this was THE best song on Surrender. The recently released version of Surrender was better than what they released in 1973 but this song is the one they should have released. The double tracking what makes it.

    Hey Diva!

  52. X.... ....

Thank you, isn't she lovely? :-) Needs more tracks on here too...
