Rory Gallagher - Tattoo'd Lady Lyrics

Tattoo'd Lady,
Bearded baby,
They're my family.

When I was lonely,
Something told me, where,
I could always be.

Where I could,
Wish for pennies,
If we had any.
You'd meet me down,
At the shooting gallery.

Yes I'm a,
Fair ground baby.
Wonder what made me,
Fall for the pearly queen.

I spent my youth,
Under canvas roof,
As I roamed from town to town.

I'm not fooling,
When I say I got no schoolin',
Never like the class bell sound.

From the caravan,
I hear the fairground band,
Sounding good as they can be.

You know I can't be found,
But if you look around,
Tomorrow we'll be gone by dawn.
Alright...

Now hear it on the loud speaker say,
The fire eater is a real fine sight to see,
Yeah he's a death cheater,
Some kind of central heater,
Be sure to save a seat for me.

Let me tell you 'bout wicked Sadie,
She's no baby,
The law came,
And tried to close her sideshow down.
But soon she had the D.A. cheering,
The police chief wearing,
Her garter for a crown.

I spent my youth,
Under canvas roof,
As I roamed from town to town.

I'm not fooling,
When I say I got no schoolin',
Never like the school bell sound.

From the caravan,
I hear the fairground band,
Sounding good as they can be.

You know I can't be found,
But if you look around,
Tomorrow we'll be gone by dawn.
Yeahh...

Tattoo'd Lady,
Bearded baby,
They're my family.

When I was lonely,
Something told me, where,
I could always be.

Where I could,
Wish for pennies,
If we had any.
You'd meet me down,
At the shooting gallery.
Tattoo'd lady...

The santly and very blessed Rory Gallagher did not mind who he meet up with along his travels , he treated everyone with the utmost respect in his very fine gentle Irish way, Rory was from the land of saints and scholars. he was the LAST OF THE INDEPENDANTS. Rory hung out with the Tattoo'd Lady, spend some time with the Daughter of the Everglades, meet with Philby and studied his Fresh Evidence, gave advise to The King Of Zydeco, When Rory was a cowboy and rode out on the Western Plain the meet a young man who was suffering from the Pistol Slapper Blues Rory gave him good advise and send him happily on his way back home. Rory would Walk on hot coals with just a Just the smile upon his face. Rory was never Bowed But Not Broken, he battled all the way through to the end to give his people only the very best that he could give,2nd was not good enough for Rory or his follower. When God called his guitar angle back home he arranges for Jesus with Saint Peter & Saint Patrick to meet him at Heavens Gate and they all requested Rory to play a acoustic set of him many songs before giving his new set of wings which were specially designed not to interfere with Rory wild guitar playing style. What other person would walk on hot coals then thank his audience Rory Gallagher that's who. Rory you are not a million miles away, as the crow flies in my mind you are just down the road paying one of your gigs with your old palls Rod de'Ath, Lou Martin, Phil Lynott, Gary Moore, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Sunny Boy Williams, Howling Wolf, Ronny Drue, Jonny Winters and many hundreds of the great players you meet with along the .

I have just been advised to pass on this completely true story. When Rory passed on from this place, Saint Peter was given a day off from work, God with his son Jesus stood in for St Peter as they wanted to meet their man as he walked up to the main gates. they had a special request to make to Rory. God & Jesus asked Rory would he do a special gig for them, the already had a stage set up with a selection of their other favorite players. Rory agreed and jumped up and stage Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott, James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix, Robert William Gary Moore, Willy DeVille and John Henry Bonham are played all night long down in the Kingdom Hall, the place packing the place out with Jesus up is the front most nights having a great time rocking out and God is very pleased with the good works. Rory and his new boys have been on a none stop tour playing up to 5 nights each week, they a fully booked way in to the future. They play down at the Kingdom Hall almost every saturday night with long queues of people backing way down the streets and around the block

Sorry but this song is so much better live!
    Rory isn't a studio musician...

    M.... W....

Equally, although Thin Lizzy formed in 1969, their first album was in 1971. Gary was also in Skid Row and Thin Lizzy. So, Thin Lizzy and Gary Moore were notably influenced by Gallagher, to an extent. And probably even later. Seeing they are also from Ireland. There is some similarity in the music, if only just.

    M.... W....

Brian May also talks about Gallagher, as been great, and important, although does not elaborate too much, or really express too much, since he could have.

    M.... W....

Now, Gallagher gets mentioned quite a lot, generally, although not enough. Rolling Stone mag has rated him just 57 as all time great guitarist. Best. Stranger things, since he should be somewhere in the top ten. Given his authenticity. Granted, he was not a commercial success, or likely seen as an influence, really. Typically, he never ventured to be a rock star.

    M.... W....

Personally, those lists make no real sense, seeing so many make the list and others do not, or placed in the wrong positions. Gallagher could be the most naturally gifted guitarist of all time. Again, based really on the fact he was a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter. Still, not a band, as such? Or, writing obvious or mostly progressive rock songs. Still, much of his material is well orchestrated and original.

    M.... W....

In truth, Gallagher is now really enjoying a cult following. More people are discovering him. Clapton is nowhere as good as this, in terms of authenticity, and lost the plot very early on. His music not very listenable, or would ever venture to listen. and probably would wish to have been like Gallagher.

    Better than Clapton.

No he's right, better than Clapton

I've always considered Clapton sort of pathetic. That may sound cruel, but Clapton in his Cream days was an incredibly creative guitarist. He was one of the few big-name guys playing an SG and he absolutely rocked. That SG with the crazy paint job was Clapton's "signature" guitar. Then after that show where he jammed with Hendrix, Clapton was supposedly found back stage smoking a cig and was totally shaken by how good Jimi actually was. It was after watching Jimi just destroy worlds with his Strat at that show that Clapton switched to playing a Strat, and his creativity basically died. Questioning Clapton's talent would be idiotic, but his "magic" as a guitar player was basically destroyed just by watching Jimi play. That is incredibly weak-minded and pathetic in my opinion, to stop using your signature Gibson guitar and basically completely changing your playing "style" just because you watched another man play guitar live. It's almost like Jimi's level of talent scared Clapton to the point where he lost his "edge" as a guitarist. I mean he still made some great tunes after switching to the Strat, but he just wasn't the same player IMO. As far as watching a guitarist actually play live, I would take Hendrix, Page, Gallagher, Stevie Ray, Gilmour, and a LONG list of other fantastic guitarists over watching Clapton play. He just doesn't do ANYTHING for me.
