Ronstadt, Linda - The Fast One Lyrics
You don't know how I feel
You don't seem to care
If I let you see it through my eyes
You wouldn't see anyone there
It's no wonder that I'm blue
My crazy heart was gone and let somebody know
When it's time for me to go
Tired of being lonley
Tired of what you do to me
Hear it raining in my heart
Well I've been lonely before
But I've been so long without sunlight
I can't take another day more
It's no wonder I been blue
My crazy heart can't tell me why
I can't tell you goodbye
Oh no, I'm tired of all this tragedy
I'm giving you back your misery
You better put on a fast one
I think I'm gonna pull through
You better play another fast one
Put your money in a fast one
I don't wanna hear the blues
Put on another fast one
Trying to forget about you
Well it ain't no wonder I been crying
It's no wonder I been blue
My crazy heart can't tell me why
I can't tell you goodbye
Darling I'm tired of being lonely
Tired of what you put me through
If you want me to pull through
You better play another fast one
No matter what you do
Put your money in a fast one
I don't wanna hear the blues
Put on another fast one
Trying to forget about you

Wheres the heart emoji!!!
The Eagles are credited on a couple of her lp's and she does the singing, they do the playing
This is a wonderful track. Should've been a hit. What is it? Country? Rock? It rocks with just a slight country feel from the steel guitar.
This is my favorite song on this album it’s such a classic not only that a country classic by one of the best writers in music John David souther
Ed Black was a fantastic player and a great guy. Unfortunately, he passed away some years ago, but certainly left us with some unbelievable recordings. If you like his work with Linda Ronstadt, check out Michael Dinner's album, "The Great Pretender". It's some of the best pedal steel playing ever put on record, and the interplay between Ed and Bob Warford on guitar is magical.
Ed Black was the steel player on The Midnight Special version. While I love Sneaky and Buddy, Ed Black played the solo of his life on that TV program. It was by far the best version of that song, in my humble opinion.
I was at that taping in August of 1972 at Warner Bros, Burbank and I totally agree! He was amazing !
Glen Frey plays the closing solo
Who was the pedal steel guitar player on this song? I remember seeing him on the pilot for Midnight Special in 1972. He had really long blonde hair and was a killer player!
This song was on Linda's 1973 album, Don't Cry Now. Buddy Emmons and Sneaky Pete Kleinow are listed as playing pedal steel on that album. To me, the pedal steel here sounds like Sneaky Pete and I suspect he is who you remember seeing on TV.
