Ronstadt, Linda - It Never Entered My Mind Lyrics

I don't care if there's powder on my nose
I don't care if my hair-do is in place
I've lost the very meaning of repose
I never put a mudpack on my face
Oh who'd have thought that I walk in a daze now
I never go to shows at night but just to matinees now
I see the show, and home I go

Once I laughed when I heard you saying
That I'd be playing solitaire
Uneasy in my easy chair
It never entered my mind

Once you told me I was mistaken
That I'd awaken with the sun
And order orange juice for one
It never entered my mind

You have what I lack myself
And now I even have to scratch my back myself

Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd sing the maiden's prayer again
And wish that you were there again
To get into my hair again
It never entered my mind

Once you warned me that if you scorned me
I'd sing the maiden's prayer again
And wish that you were there again
To get into my hair again
It never entered my mind
It never entered my mind

Ronstadt, Linda It Never Entered My Mind Comments
  1. B.... B....

Young Linda Ronstadt, would've made me lose no nut November...

  2. R.... B....

One of the top voices of a generation

  3. M.... R....

I never realized how intertesting music videos are!! Linda makes it look and sound soo good, with Nelson in the background. Wonderful!! How lucky can we get? Margaret Romaine

  4. C.... S....

    song feels so magical...

  5. G.... D....

    Beautiful version with Nelson Riddle.

  6. G.... K....

Divine pipes. A doe-eyed doll. Great singer.

  7. D.... ....

That voice...smooth as butter. Every note, right on the mark...NO AUTO TUNE. Put's 'em all to shame in today's pop music world, all to shame.

  8. R.... S....

My baby, Linda Ronstadt sings this song with more feeling than any singer I've ever heard...For all of you naysayers...just listen...this woman...just emotes...

    R.... S....

Rick Sanchez wait, she's MY baby!😁

    R.... S....

Apparently you've never heard this version:

Bless Linds for actually singing the verse, the only singer whom I've ever heard sing it, but she gets just a little to...theatrical. Perhaps, now that she's older, and has had her heart broken (by Gov. Moonbeam), she should record a simpler, shorter and more purely heartfelt version. (With the verse).

  9. J.... W....

Luv her voice no matter what she wraps it around.

  10. H.... ....

Rosemary Clooney's version is far superior and has an extraordinary Nelson Riddle arrangement to boot.

    H.... ....

That's your opinion only...My opinion is that I prefer Linda Ronstadt's version. The reason is I don't particularly like the arrangement. Secondly I don't like Clooney's phrasing in the song..

    H.... ....

They were friends and did concerts together. Linda's one of the few who acknowledged that generations music before they passed on.

  11. P.... S....

I love Linda , great voice. BUT I don't believe a word she's saying. Listen to Sarah Vaughn sing this and you can feel the heartache and loss. Never take love for granted. Of course Frank Sinatra has a super version.

    P.... S....

Actually Linda has a voice like a diamond and other times as soft as velvet. She also is able to emote easily within the notes she sings...Her vibrato is controlled and not excessive unlike Vaughn's which is excessive and guttural at times. I like Linda's version is more believable to me. Absolutely beautiful rendition of this song. My favorite so far. Next to her I like Stacey Kent and then Chet Baker.

Palmer Short to each his own! Apples and oranges, cus I hear in Linda what you hear in Sarah....Divine!

    P.... S....

    Palmer Short.

Every vocalist brings something new and unique to the performance of any piece of music. One may prefer one artist over another, but it in no way diminishes the work of other performers. The three albums Ronstadt recorded with the great arranger Nelson Riddle, stand on their own merits.

  12. K.... D....

    What a lovely voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. m.... m....

    Linda is the greatest.

  14. A.... B....

Nelson Riddle is the best thing that happened to Linda Ronstadt.

    A.... B....

Linda can sing with anyone..Check out her Mariachi and Ranchero music...or check out Frenesi.

    A.... B....

The reverse could be true too. She got him out of retirement for this. He died soon after their third album was released.

    A.... B....

    One of many.....

  15. K.... D....

Used to have this album. Sold all my records when I moved in May 2009. Used to play this when ever I was upset. Was better than going to a shrink. Thank you for posting this lovely song.  She is perfection!!!!!! You go Linda. And a big thanks to Mr. Nelson Riddle, of course.

  16. z.... ....

Such a lovely song, so well sung.

  17. A.... K....

does anyone know in witch key Ann Burton sings? it seems to me it's lower than others, and i'm looking so much for a lower key sheet music... I found the sheet in Fmajor, but it's high for me to sing it ... and Linda? in wich key is she singing?

  18. D.... G....

The great Nelson Riddle was Maestro di Maestri.

  19. S.... ....

I enjoyed your video. Linda Ronstadt is one of my favorites.

  20. V.... ....

There's no one like Linda Ronstadt. Sublime.

  21. c.... ....

@56Packman He was one of the greatest arrangers and conductors of the 20th Century. His work with Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole has never been surpassed.

  22. J.... L....

I am so grateful that Linda thought to do these records, and that she gave Nelson Riddle the last hurrah he so richly deserved. If only he had lived to see how important his life's work is to a new generation.

    J.... L....

I host a internet Standards show Sunday morns and play from Lush Life tune in sometime: kabl960
