Ronnie Milsap - Inside Lyrics
She tries for the honesty but the truth just gets in the way
'Cause I know inside what she can't bring herself to say
There's something dying deep in her heart
I feel it when I touch her hand
So I tell her a lie when I tell her I understand.
But inside I die a little each day
Inside I feel her slipping away
Inside if she knew that I hurt this way
Inside she'd find a reason to stay
And so I must keep this broken heart down deep inside.
She turns to look at me trying to speak her mind
A thousand reasons in search of a single rhyme
And suddenly it occurs to me she's trying to say goodbye
So I give her a smile and tell her that I'll be alright.
But inside I die a little each day
Inside I feel her slipping away
Inside if she knew that I hurt this way
Inside she'd find a reason to stay
And so I must keep this broken heart down deep inside.
Sometimes love will slip away it's hard to say just why
Is it something that's said or is it in-stead
Something that just simply died key change.
But inside I die a little each day
Inside I feel her slipping away
Inside if she knew that I hurt this way
Inside she'd find a reason to stay
And so I must keep this broken heart down deep inside.
Inside
Inside if she knew that I hurt this way
Inside she'd find a reason to stay
And so I must keep this broken heart down deep inside.
Oooooh, inside, inside...

A #1 hit for Ronnie Milsap on the Country & Western charts. It was the 639th #1 C&W song of the Rock Era. I saw Ronnie Milsap on April 30, 1987 at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. He and T. Graham Brown opened for Kenny Rogers.
mkl62 pretty positive the c in country and w in western don't need capitalizing and why not just say country??

@dbelleburr Dody, call me, 'Dave'. I can't stand to be called, David. I KNOW he slew Goliath, but, I always thought that 'David' was too formal.
@dbelleburr Well, Dody, I dunno if it's valuable. I'm just a chart freak. A modern-day Casey Kasem, if you will.

@CORVETTE1982 Funny how songs can do that sometimes isn't it......
This song takes my thoughts back to February 1983 when it was new and on the radio a lot. Mid February me and a friend took a road trip from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the time Me and Gina were in the midst of a wonderful love filled relation. The lyrics reflect nothing about me and Gina then. Strange thing is, one year later, in February 1984, the lyrics absolutely reflect everything as she tried to find the words to tell me goodbye on that cold February night.
CORVETTE1982 I hear ya, this song takes me me back to close to the same time, first I heard it was around January 1983 after my aunt I was real close to passed away. I remember being on a 4 hour road trip back home from my aunt and uncles place in a snow storm. That's what this song brings back memories of
