Ronnie Milsap - Back On My Mind Again Lyrics

Our paths may never cross again
Maybe my heart will never mend
But I'm glad for all the good times
'Cause you brought me so much sunshine
Love was the best it's ever been.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world
Wouldn't have missed loving you girl
You've made my whole life worth while, with your smile
I wouldn't trade one memory,
'Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl
I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

They say that all good things must end
Love comes and goes just like the wind
You've got your dreams to follow
But if I had the chance tomorrow
You know I'd do it all again.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world
Wouldn't have missed loving you girl
You've made my whole life worth while, with your smile
I wouldn't trade one memory,
'Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl
I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Oh I wouldn't trade one memory,
'Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl,
I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I wouldn't have missed it for the world
Wouldn't have missed loving you girl
You've made my whole life worth while, with your smile
I wouldn't trade one memory,
'Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl
I wouldn't have missed it for the world...

  35. T.... M....

I don't like today's country music this music is the best,,,,,,,,

  36. L.... 1....

this is a country song with pop elements....late 70s and all the 80s it was the best season for all kind of music business.Ronnie Milsap was one of them.....one of the best singer of all time.

  37. A.... F....

    Everyday all day Timothy Fuller

  38. B.... F....

I've heard Octopuses' Garden by the Beatles many time's before and Back On My Mind Again doesn't sound anything remotely like Octopuses' Garden what so ever.

  39. M.... R....

Makes more sense than octopusses garden does. All you have to do is change 1 % and it isnot copyright infridgement

  40. E.... ....

if you can't hear The Beatles in this song then you need your ears checked. I can't hear anything but 'Octopuses Garden'. I mean I love country music. always have, and I know lots of artists use chords from other songs...but come on. he used the whole dang song.

    E.... ....

EiriYukisLover he didn't write the song, you know. Charles Quillen and Conrad Pierce did. Besides this song came out the year they started using synthesizers in music...they used the melody written for this song to showcase the new sound. And no they didn't use the whole song...listen to both side by side and you'll notice the differences.

  41. N.... R....

I like Ronnie milsap even know I'm 11 my dad played it all the time

  42. J.... g....

just heard octupuses garden by the Beatles and thought oh damn they stole ronnie music. lol!!!! they are both great but I just love this "back on my mind" so much more.

    J.... g....

Except it's the other way around since the Beatles song is 1969 and this was recorded around 1978 or 79

  43. N.... C....

beautiful music this is country music

    N.... C....

    Nettie Crewell as opposed to

    N.... C....

countrygirl country musiclover the awful shit they play today that not country

  44. G.... M....

Like so many other people, I was really shocked that this song didn't constitute some sort of copyright infringement. From the very first time I heard the thing, all I could think was, "Whoa - somebody's been listening to the Beatles - and they may owe them some money.........". I was a piano player, for a living, for about 25 years - and I did a bit of writing. It's easy to do this sort of thing, but I'm surprised the record company put this out......a blatant ripoff of Octopus's Garden.

    G.... M....

Ronnie milsap didn't get a look at the lyrics of octopuses garden. he would of never seen a law suite coming.

    G.... M....

ya they all do it , stairway to heaven, the beach boys ???? so whats new ???? don't stress yourself with the little things in life.

    G.... M....

A rip off of "Octopus's Garden?"  How?

    G.... M....

I agree with you Guy Merritt, maybe an agreement was reached before hand.

    G.... M....

    maybe he got permission

  45. S.... ....

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus's garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus's garden in the shade..................................

    S.... ....

    Every time! :D

    S.... ....

SlipKnotRicky inferior song to this tune.

    S.... ....

SlipKnotRicky yep, my thoughts went right to the same song.

  46. M.... D....

    great music and artist

  47. N.... M....

if you and yours ever split up and you didn't want it to happen but it did this song is a killer played it over and over

  48. d.... ....

Man these old Ronnie Mildap songs bring back memories of riding around in my dad's truck when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Milsap was one of the few artists who we both liked at the time. Two nights ago my parents saw him in concert! Thanks Dad!

    d.... ....

This particular one takes me back to the early 80s when I was 8-9 years old. My mom had this song on an 8 track. I'd take the 8 track player out in the sunroom of our house with a pile of books and listen to this song and others on that old 8 track player. I'm going to see him in concert next weekend.

    d.... ....

For Me it was Me & My stepdad. We didn't get along well at all, but the summers I spent with Him driving all over the country as a salesman, the music was about the only the We could both agree on.. I was also @ 10 or so when this came out.

  49. D.... K....

This song has always bothered me because it seems to have been borrowed from the Beatles' Octopuses Garden.

  50. J.... T....

don't think bad of not a county music fan,but anything ronnie mmilsap ia awesome, you just know that it comes from his heart, not just singing for the money and fame, but because he loves the music, thanks for the post

  51. B.... S....

THIS IS MUSIC. PEOPLE HAVE NO APPRECIATION FOR REAL TALENT ANYMORE

    B.... S....

Brian Spicher I sadly have to agree...

    B.... S....

Brian Spicher YES THEY DO APPRECIATE REAL TALENT. CHECK OUT LITERALLY 95-97% OF TODAY'S COUNTRY NOT NAMED CHRIS SHITPELTON RASCAL FLATS KEITH URBAN FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE AND JOHN PARTY

    B.... S....

countrygirl country musiclover they all suck today ronnie needs to be on be radio now days

    B.... S....

No one is like Ronnie milsap He is so great love this man

    B.... S....

Peoples appreciation on a whole lot of things have diminished in today's world. It's gone to Hell in a handbasket.

  52. R.... R....

The words are so much better than Octopus Garden

  53. d.... b....

I saw Ronnie Milsap at Six Flags over Texas at the music mill in the summer of 1980,and he put on one more GREAT show. The only bad part about the whole thing, was when the show came 2 a end.

    d.... b....

I see need to it's Six Flags I was with my favorite sister-in-law yes I know

    d.... b....

darrla bosworth I saw him in '86 as part of a triple concert...Dwight Yoakam was the opening act..then Ronnie Milsap and T.G. Sheppard were the last two acts. Was a real great show!

  54. M.... 7....

My favorite song of his(and yes I hear the Octopus' garden similarities)...

    M.... 7....

Not to mention the similarities of Teresa Brewer's hit Put Another Nickel In The Nickelodeon song!

  55. J.... A....

There are some obvious similarities to Octopus' Garden.

    J.... A....

LOL!! Ya know ur right I did not grow up listening to the Beatles believe it or not lol even tho I'm old enough for that...but when I heard that song at an Imax theater sung by Leah Erbe, on a sea movie I knew it reminded me of some song ( meaning this Ronnie Milsap one lol )  thanks for connecting those dots!! LOL too funny...

    J.... A....

Don't forget another similarity to Teresa Brewers-Music Music Music (Put another nickel in the Nickelodeon)

    J.... A....

Jess-Avery Affentranger this song is much better though...but there are songs by the Beatles that are better than this Milsap classic.

    J.... A....

Guys come on it's A total different song they might have a slight similarity but totaly different song.

  56. k.... ....

this always takes me back to the 4th grade and KSPL radio in dibol, texas......1978.....

  57. A.... K....

I've heard quite a few people say that, Trey.

  58. S.... ....

0:13 I'd like to be... under the sea....

  59. T.... F....

    nice song

  60. M.... T....

Octopuses garden!!!! And he thought we wouldn't notice.. Ha!

  61. S.... ....

Cont. If the surviving Beatles would've tried to sue him, it would've been out of jealousy, because they could never have come up w/ anything better than this gem. What we have here is a sound briefly bringing to mind 21c country, showing why the King of Country-Pop is the most influential singer on contemporary country and its stars! That he's still not in the CMHOF shows his controversy still lingers on, or that the board can't decide whether to put him pre- or post-1980 (I'd say the latter).

  62. S.... ....

This is my least favorite on "Greatest Hits" (the cassette), but that's actually a compliment when talking about a track by one of my favorite and most talented artists ever from what is his best secular release ever. The other tracks were either heartfelt ballads ("Smoky Mountain Rain," "It Was Almost Like a Song," "What a Difference...") or more country-sounding greats ("Pure Love," Daydreams About Night Things"). This was psychedelic in sound, sounding like "Octopus's Garden," but WAY better!

  63. S.... ....

This song is better, this should've been #1 instead; not speaking for or against "The Gambler," I just think it doesn't hold a candle to this.

  64. E.... ....

Anyone else start singing Octopus's Garden when this song started XD lol I just heard it on tv so I had to look it up an get a second listen. Totally The Beatles -3 nice song but come on...can't anyone actually use their own music

  65. T.... ....

I can visualize myself driving an 80's MACK big rig 18 wheeler driving on the country and dirt roads playing this song.

  66. Q.... A....

yes ! ur back on my mind ....

  67. h.... ....

    A true oldie but goodie

  68. G.... ....

    In an octopusses garden...

  69. S.... O....

This song is perfect. There is not one wasted word or beat. I don't know of any other song that is so resonant.

  70. p.... ....

But I have loved others as much. It's great to be alive.. Thanks for that Ronnie.

  71. p.... ....

Been back many times in the last 3 months. Great song, great singer...... Ah, yes, 'that' wife. Never loved anyone more than her.

  72. q.... ....

    lovely and divine.....great song......thanks.....

  73. p.... ....

Yeah, great song. Always reminds me of one of my wives, she introduced me to Ronnie's music.

  74. T.... E....

@DeeMarks1980 what are you talking about it sounds exactly like it not to take any thing away from millsap i really think this is a great song i just think it sounds alot like ouctupus graden

  75. T.... E....

    @jamarks612 yes

  76. T.... G....

well if the beatles are infringed upon I think Ronnie will have to pay the Michael Jackson estate damages

  77. T.... G....

Ronnie is THE MAN and that's the way it is. Singing about life and love. I've been living it for 52 years and can relate in my life to his songs and that is what makes country music so enduring...

  78. l.... ....

Holy Crow this song is absolutely a plagiarized version of Ringo Starr's "Octopus's Garden"!!!

  79. J.... C....

I think Ringo hummed the basic tune of the
Beatles song, but it was basically written
    by Lennon/McCartney, OR Harrison and
    Starr. Just my opinion.

  80. T.... ....

I hope he's paying royalties to Ringo because this is a real steal of his tune "Octopus's Garden".

    T.... ....

Ronnie Milsap didn't write the song or the rhythm dude. He just performed the hell out of it.

  81. S.... ....

thx for all the ronnie milsap song u've uploaded, he's a great romantic soft singer, i like him so much. and thx for posting the lyrics for each song!

  82. s.... l....

Remember playing the crap out of this song in my '03 Cobra. I suggest getting his 40 #1 hits. It's a 2-cd set with a ton of great songs-especially the late 70's and early 80's tunes.

  83. R.... P....

    gosh a wonderfull song

  84. j.... ....

Does anyone notice the resemblance to Ringo Starr's Octopus' Garden?

    j.... ....

jamarks612 this guy's a better singer than any of the Beatles

  85. R.... N....

some of the most heartfelt songs i have ever heard in my life. Ronnie inst country he isn't pop. he transcends all genres and you cant deny something when its real and from the heart. amazing songwriting.

  86. b.... ....

what a liar!!! he never saw those lovers...

    b.... ....

boats752 same as that stranger in his house

  87. T.... C....

Also one of mine..even though I was 4 when this came out I love Ronnie Milsap.

  88. B.... ....

Mellow, laid back country music from the late 70's. Not one of Ronnie's greatest tunes, but a solid song that sounds better than anything on country radio right now.
